I would start with The Best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. That's how I became OBSESSED. Tender Prey and Kicking Against The Pricks are good starting points too, but KATP is a covers album. Many people would probably say to start with The Birthday Party, who are very cool, but a bit too hardcore for me at times. I prefer the Bad Seeds myself...
Fine, I've bumped him up on my list and am acquiring a solid collection of his music right now.
I'm a bad influence, sorry. I hope you have a dark sense of humor; Did I mention Nick Cave's bloody, and dark sense of humor?

Just remember it's all on you if I end up hating the music.
He was already on your list of people to check out, so I'm not taking any blame...

Alright, fine. Truce. So which album am I starting with when my download finishes?
Murder ballads and abattoir blues/lyre of Orpheus
Really? I think you need to be kind of an established fan already to enjoy especially, Murder Ballads. Just my opinion; It took me a while to get into it. Dig! Lazarus, Dig! would be a good place to start too, and it's the latest from the Bad Seeds.

I honestly think their really isn't a user friendly 'start' album to delve into nick cave.. it's all to some degree a little weird and obscure.. I just think the albums I mentioned showcase his diverse range nicely.
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

'Let Love in' might be a slightly more 'user friendly' place to start? Maybe?
Let Love In yes, definitely to start with.
I forgot about Let Love In! good one. I think some of Henry's Dream is strangely catchy; i.e. I had a Dream, Joe and Jack the Ripper.

I started with half an album yesterday, and I plan on getting through a few more throughout my work day. So far I've liked what I've heard. Stagger Lee is probably my favourite of the bunch so far.

I was about to enqueue Dig! Lazarus, Dig! in my playlist, but I doubt the album is only two tracks long. I guess I'll have to acquire it when I get home.

I love it, I think DLD and Moonland are two of their best songs. And yes, Stagger Lee is amazing; they encored it when I saw them on the DLD tour, and the crowd went NUTS

Hmmm, Stagger Lee vid blocked but the other one was cool. It reminded me, with the shot of Warren Ellis in the background at the beginning, how fab he(Warren Ellis) & The Dirty Three are as well. Any of you know of them? Amazing band!! All instruments, no vocals, with Warren on violin. They're crazy live! Amazing drummer too. No vocals but in between songs Warren raves about everything under the sun. Check them out: http://vimeo.com/15419848
Indian Love Song is just the best song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYoUL15ZFpA
