I would like to see interested family members of vicitims run a firing sqaud on the murderer. Make it a Pay Per View event with proceeds to victims families. Now we're talking.
This is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen.
How would more people armed in that theater have helped? A gun in a dark theater filled with tear gas would've ended in more deaths.

yea yea yea...real funny but guess what..they did it because they can, this is America and we have the 2nd ammendment we haven't given up our right to protect ourselfs.
BTW
I believe that the first sign of that tear gas container and a few people would have had guns drawn and quite possibly smoked that punk if there were armed citizens in that theater, you all can keep making up reasons to ban guns and make jokes about it but look at the bottom line here..,.we still got em.
Has the subway scene from Predator 2 taught us nothing when groups of armed citizens face of with criminals in a dark chaotic atmosphere?
:fp:
My advice is, instead of using the money on a gun, why not use it on a nice home theater system instead. The popcorn is cheaper, strangers cell phones wont go off, and you can fast-forward through the ads.

Godfather.
ok, i have stayed out of these 2 treads but I have to say something now. to begin, do you really believe that having the 2nd amendment protects you. lets say that i am a good shot and from a roof top i starting shooting down at people. yes maybe at some point someone might kill or injure me but by the time that is done many people can be killed. what if one of those people is you? are you protected? NO!
now as for Gun control. the main issue that I see is not just the amount of guns that are open for people to buy but the state of mind that comes from a person saying I need to shoot someone for whatever reason.
so while you can yes say "we still have them" do you feel safe? in many rough areas many people have guns and yet people are still killed there.

sorry fife but I can't see your point being valid, life if full of what if's so we all we can do is protect ourselfs and our familys as best we can and if a gun is needed then so be it.

Wait, wait, even better...what if you're in a glass bubble on the bottom of the ocean with nothing but an old western six-shooter. A shark comes along and asks you for directions, but you know he's just setting you up, so you send him the wrong way. Meanwhile, Captain Ahab drives by in a self-propelled submarine and points his torpedo at you. What to do, what to do? You can maybe shoot him but can you get him before the torpedo is set loose? Even worse, when your bullet breaks your glass bubble, can you hold your breath long enough to get to the surface?? Oh no my pistola is useless!

the flashes coming from the murderers barrel would lead you in the right direction. trust me.
While the gunman was armed... With other people running around screaming. The last thing I'd want if I was in this situation is some asshole thinking he's dirty harry trying to 'Save the day'...

asked the victims of the DC sniper if having a gun made them feel safer? the reality is that having guns on the streets is not safe and having more people with guns is not safe.

but the point is that gun doesn't protect yourself or your family in a situation like this. its put more people and other people families at risk of being shot. I have been shot at (not hit but shot at) in my work life and the truth is that while we are comfortable sitting infront of a computer is that when you hear guns being shot at you your first reaction is not to shot back but to try not getting hit.
fife=o.k I understand that, but me personally if heard shots or someone breaking into my house or I was in a rough neighborhood I would feel a lot safer knowing I had a loaded weapon on me.
btw I don't normally carry a weapon.

when someone want to do bad, isnt easy to stop him..
when u hear shotgun u run to hide..normal reaction
thats why police officers trained for have more calm reaction and hadle the situation..
even in police force there are different squads for different jobs
having a gun doesnt mean u can protect your self..
if u have bricks and cement ,doesnt mean u can build a house...

One of the unfortunate events in US history where someone with legally obtained guns was bat shit crazy. 12 people killed and that is a tragedy. :( However how many people were killed in this country from illgeally obtained weapons? How about just today? The legal gun owners aren't the people to target here. I mean, shit, I could leave my office right now, walk out to my car and run over 50 people right now if I wanted to.

you said a gun does not protect myself or my family and I understand what you are saying
so then could we also say that guns don't kill people and that people kill people ?

I can understand this and that why i said that we also have to look at the causes that make a person feel that its ok to use a gun to shot people. simple gun control is not going to end gun violence.

The reality is that your examples are so deep into outlier territory that my attempt at humor seemed the most appropriate way to make the point. The University of Texas sniper? The DC sniper? Those aren't really the risks that most gun owners are trying to mitigate by carrying.

I'm just guessing here but it seems you have had enough experiance/knowledge in this area with guns
in your work life, your opinion has my respect.

I think that people kill people but a gun in the hands of a person is an extension of that person. I don't know if it is a either/or situation here to be honest.

Right, as long as you're immune to the effects of tear gas it's an easy shot.
Cool, sounds like a plan, until the cops show up and see the flashes coming from your barrel? :corn:
