First hit Chapman gives up to a LH batter all fucking year. Our bullpen is just fucking cursed. Already blown as many saves with us as he did NYY.

I'm also getting real fucking tired of our offense making the worst pitchers in baseball look like god damn Cy Young contenders. Wade fucking Miley? Dude's ERA was 5.23 before today's game and get 2 fucking hits in 7 innings against him?! Time to grow the hell up, Cubs!

I realize its only 1 game.
I realize Chapman is one of the best in the game.

But why does it feel that EVERY time the Cubs sign a big name player, the player instantly must get fitted for a "Dunce Cap"? Hahahaha

Alfonso Soriano comes to mind. The guy was a 40-40 guy when we signed him. The minute he got off the plane in Chicago? They fitted him with the " Dunce Cap" and he soon became a very overpaid, slightly above average player.

What angered me about this loss was that we specifically made this trade to avoid situations like this. Lead come the 8th or 9th inning was supposed to be automatic. I realize it's not going to be 100%, but im hoping this doesn't become the norm. Also not happy about Hendricks getting scratched tomorrow to insert a 6th starter.

So this bum coulda walked had we not brought him up. We shoulda let him walk. Not a fan of this 6th starter nonsense. These starting pitchers need to toughen up. Its disgusting how much they get coddled. You are getting paid how much to work every 5th day? Get your ass out there and pitch!

I think the thought was that maybe he would have had a really good outing tonight and the Cubs could have potentially flipped him. That obviously will not be the case.

Feel asleep after Hayward's K in the 7th, I think. Woke up to the crowd signing go cubs go! What a game. We really needed a signature comeback like that. How about Travis Wood? The guy is a ball player!

I'd seriously consider starting him game 1 in the playoffs.

Not sure about that, but that talk of this kid being like Maddox is proving true, for right now. He's progressing very nicely. This was our #5 at the beginning of the year. Let that sink in.

Baez with two really nice plays in the 9th! And how about that snag from Cogs in the 7th?!
  • bflynn1bflynn1 Posts: 1,394
Great win last night. It's nice to see us be able to win with small ball where we score fewer than 5 runs. Fowler was on point last night. Would've been nice if Strop and Rondon were a little more solid. Rondon wasn't terrible, but he and Strop did give up 5 hits over 2 innings and of course the 2 runs. Big props to Baez on those two plays in the 9th. Those were beautiful.

By next season, Zobrist is going to be forced back into a super utility position again...he's already slowly playing more and more outfield. Baez has been making a lot of offensive improvements this season.

This week so far with the comeback win Sunday night, the CG by Hendricks on Monday when the bullpen needed a rest, and last night battling it out with good base running and defense... that's the kind of baseball that wins in October!

Can't say enough about what Baez brings to the table defensively. I remember hearing all about his bat in the minors, and it's nearly as advertised, but he's as smooth a fielder as I think I've ever seen. He makes tough plays look like Sunday hops.

I think I'm busting out, for the first time in 5 years, the It's Gonna Happen/3quarter sleeve shirt for Wrigley.

I think when it's all said and done, keeping Baez, Soler, and Schwarber is going to be the key to multiple trips to the WS.

I love scwarber. I like baez better than soler. The reason he's (soler) still a cub is because he holds little value.
