Wish they'd throw Edwards more and Strop and Rodney less. The slim chance we had to win the div is gone.

Manager of the year? What a laugh. I'm sure Matheny will still get ignored, but now it should be a 2 man race between him and Collins.

I agree with Speedy that taking 2 of 3 in St Louis is awesome but I do think any chance that we had for the division title died today.

Really nice to see another great outing for Lester.
  • We'd probably have 90 wins right now if not for the fucking bullpen.
  • I love this fucking team. And I love that for the first time in a long time Cubs September baseball matters. I don't even know what to do with myself!!!
    I lost a bet...

Yes, the bullpen does suck monkey balls!!!! They need to get that sorted out, but damn...this season has been so much fun!!

I wonder if Kerry wood could pitch a few 9th innings for us.

Most over-rated pitcher in the history of baseball.
He had a 15 year career based on 1 game vs. the Astros.
Though I admit, had he never developed the arm issues, he could have been special.

2 doubleheaders in 5 days. Not an easy task. Fridge will be stocked for a long night.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. He had an amazing arm and yes, had he been healthy, he would have been an all time great. And he was a great closer. I think the guy you're referring is Mark prior.

    14 years
    86-75 with 63 saves.
He made a 14 year career based on 1 game against the Astros, and potential.
Now don't get me wrong, Kerry Wood COULD have been a hell of a pitcher. But the fact is, he got hurt when he was young, and NEVER reached his potential. Not even close. He was basically a career .500 pitcher, who as a kid had plenty of potential. And as far as that goes? In MLB those type of athletes are a dime a dozen.

Hes an above .500 pitcher for his career with 63 saves. Dont forget about the 3.67 era, the almost 1400 innings pitched, and the almost 1600 strikeouts. That makes him the most over rated pitcher of all time?
  • The most overrated pitcher of all-time has to be another former Cub, Edwin Jackson. How that guy continues to get on Major League rosters just blows my fucking mind. He should be a Double-A journeyman at best.

The may be one of my favorite Cubs teams of all time. I like their hustle and approach to the game (Castro excluded). The team seems like it buys into Maddon's "Do Simple Better" and "Respect 90".

Obviously, a Cubs team is more fun to watch when they are winning but if I think back to the last playoff teams (2007 & 2008), I really did not like guys how guys like Soriano, and Ramirez played the game.

Yup 4 back in L column. Would be 2 if strop didnt shit the bed. Id love if we could somehow win the div, but if we dont i hope pit does. Id rather face stl in a 1 game wc game with arrieta on the hill than a 5 game series with Arrieta only being able to go once.

I just LOVE the fact that ST. LOUHY is finally getting some pressure put on them. And how are they responding? 2-8 in their last 10? Getting their asses handed to them by the Cubs and the Reds.

How perfect was that twin bill yesterday?
    Arietta goes 8
    Hendricks goes 7
    We don't kill the bullpen.
    JUST FUCKING PERFECT!!!

Yeah only blemish was Rodney pitched, but in the positive he may have pitched himself out of ever pitching again!
