Not getting past the Cardinals this year, or next or the one after that I'm afraid. : )

Probably not this year. But they won't stay on top of the NL central after 2015.
Oh yeah? How so? Their pitching staff is deep. Young talent coming up.
Yup....all year the Cardinals have been winning the division with their young talent. Peralta and Molina are the only guys deep into their career that are consistently in the lineup and you could maybe include Marp in that but he's still fairly young. Guys like Wong, Grichuk and Piscotty are gonna be studs and Martinez and Wacha are the gonna be the best 1-2 punch in the league sooner than later. They have smart management, a great farm system and a new TV deal that kicks in in the next couple years.

Well, the cubs young talent is better than the cardinals young talent. That's how they will win the central in 2016. If you compare rosters, the cubs will have a better offense next year. Pitching will always be an issue for the cubs. But that's where the Theo will have to earn his money in the off season.
  • Good stuff last night!!

Lets win tonight, and officially put the Giants in our rearview mirror.

    8.5 games back on 8/27?

We're something like 24-6 in our last 30 and 4 of those 6 losses have been Dan Haren starts. We replaced Edwin Jackson with a guy that throws like Edwin Jackson.

He actually led the AL in saves last year, and posted 2 decent seasons prior to that at Tampa under Maddon. He had one or two good years at Detroit in the 8 or so seasons prior. He's been blowing a lot of saves this year though. If Maddon & Bosio can get him back to his Tampa form, he'll be a decent addition. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

I'm not a fan of Rodney at all. He is another guy that will make us all hold our breath in the 9th inning. He's definitely not the long term answer for the 9th inning.
  • Anyone in Chicago watch the game last night?
Pretty cool how they let us listen to Vin Scully for a half inning.
Also very cool to hear what Scully had to say about Lester.

He was a waste of money!
