Arrietta and Grienke will battle it out for the NL cy young award. I thunk if grienke struggles down the stretch and arrietta continues to dominate, Arrietta can win it.
Remember when Ryno & Barney went 123 & 142 consecutive games respectively without an error at 2nd base?
And now we have Castro.
Thankfully Baez is a Sept callup.

I'm not sold on him. I know he did better in the minors this year...but that's the minors. Hopefully he produces at the plate in this time around. It really doesn't matter. We don't have the pitching to compete in the playoffs this year. Arrieta is our only good starter. Lester was a giant waste of a whooooole lotta cash (I never did want them to sign him). Hendricks doesn't have it this year. Hammel can't past 5 innings. Dan Haren flat out sucks. And the entire bullpen blows ass. Then again, Madison Bumgarner pretty much single-handedly won the entire playoffs last year, so who knows!
I just find it hard to believe we don't have one single arm in the minors that's ready for a shot.
Thankfully SF keeps losing cause I feel like we are doing everything possible to blow this.

Yeah, it was good to see that the Giants decided to tank right when we did.
I tell ya, IF(and that's a BIG IF), if the Cubs can somehow manage to win that Wild card game, I have no problem with Arrieta, Lester, and whoever as our playoff starters.
Just WIN the damned Wild Card Game. And lets see what happens.

Going into this yr I expected about a .500 team. Based on where we currently are I expect to be in the WC game, not getting there would be a disappointment. They win that and move on its exceeding expectations for me.

I hear ya. I would just hate for this 162 game season to end in a Wild Card game loss. The fact that both Wild card teams, entire season, goes down to a 1 game playoff is kind of silly, in my eyes. I wonder if they would ever change that to a 3 game series?

I personally think it should be a 3-gamer. No travel. The WC1 gets home all 3 games, just like a standard regular season series. I also think they should seed the playoff teams based on record. It's sad that the 2nd & 3rd best teams in the NL will have to try to eliminate each other for a chance to go on the road against STL, while the inferior Mets & Dodgers get a free pass.

Im fine with it. You should get an advantage for winning your div and the #1 seed should get an advantage playing the wc. As far as a 3 game series, i doubt it since the ws already could end in November. Unless they shorten the reg season, which id be ok with to lengthen the playoffs, but they won't cause of the record books.

After Arrieta got snubbed for All-Star game, he better damn well be the front runner for Cy Young. I can only see Greinke as a serious challenger at this point but Arrieta is leading the majors in wins, complete games, shutouts, and has more K's than Greinke.
