He needed that game! Big confidence builder and shows he can still pitch well when it matters most. Hope he carries that out the rest of the season and into the playoff(s).
Travis Wood with the 2 inning save! Don't see those very often. 3 out of 4 on the road against another playoff team heading into a 10-game home stand. Let's keep rolling against the Cards this weekend!
Huge confidence booster for this young team taking 2/3 in stl and 3/4 in pit as we will prob have to go to one or each in October.

Castro got HOT last year, the last 3-4 weeks of his season. Then an injury put him down. He has gotten HOT again this year. The last 3 weeks or so, he is hitting the ball with authority.
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
Nice win. Typical ahole cards throwing at rizzo. Matheny is an ahole just like larussa was.

Anthony Rizzo is quickly turning into one of my favorite cubs of all time. He may top Sandberg if he stay with them his entire career.
He should be NL MVP.
I don't think he should be mvp. Bryce harper will be the mvp unless he goes into a historic slump the rest of the way. Rizzo should and will receive votes based on the weather the cubs make the playoffs. Which is looking more and more likely.
Harper still leads the league in 3 of 4 major hitting categories. I think nationally, he's more known than rizzo. Which ultimately will lead to him getting the mvp. Even if rizzo is more deserving.
Harper is having a phenomenal year, so it's hard to argue against him. But when I think of the true meaning of MVP, Rizzo means more to the Cubs this season than Harper does to the Nats.
MLB should have 2 awards, MVP and Player of the Year.

Then you can't forget about Cespedes for the mets. Since the trade, they have went from 2 games behind the Nats to 8 games up.

Valuable to the Mets, yes. But only 43 games with them. The Tigers haven't really gotten any worse without him than they already were.

I agree. But voters look at that shit. And I agree on the 2 awards.
Yeah, it's good that they look at stuff like that. I'd rather Cespedes get it based on the Mets success with him than have writers justify their votes by theoretical "stats" like WAR, which seems to be coming more and more common.
Hammell has been absolute shit the 2nd half. Id rather Harren be our 4th starter if we get to the NLDS.

Jesus fucking Christ. I know we're up 9-5 but bases loaded nobody out and can't score a single fucking run. Ridiculous. No lead is safe with our bullpen. Get a fucking ball in the outfield and score at least one ffs!
