Those aren't the only 2 categories they keep track of. The guy eats innings. Which helps a horrible cub bull pen. Over 200 innings pitched in every year except his rookie year. Less than 100 earned runs in every year except 2 in the bigs (117 and 101). He's never walked more than 68 batter in any season. I'd take my chances with him in the playoffs.

I don't even know why I am arguing with you on this one. As a Giants fan I would say please Cubs trade for him. I think the Giants would be more than happy to see him again in that atmosphere. When the Cubs signed Edwin Jackson it was because he is an innings eater. Keep going after those guys instead of just getting a better bullpen.

You just compared Edwin Jackson to James shields? Good one.

I'm not sure why you're arguing this either. You should love the idea of him leaving the west. If he was that bad, you'd think you'd want him to stay and face the Giants 8-10 times a year.

The Giants are 2-1 against him this season. I like him just fine in the West.

Cubs...2.5 games back in the Wild Card
White Sox...2.5 games back in the Wild Card

White Sox started the 2nd half EXACTLY how we needed the Cubs to start the 2nd half.

Instead the Cubs play like crap against the White Sox, Phillies, and Rockies.

Big 4 game series against the Brewers this weekend.

Big 4 game sweep & 5 game win streak going! 7 games against the Pirates & Giants coming up; a chance to gain some ground! (But I'm sure we'll go 4-3 or 3-4 at best... can't quite get over the hump yet.)

Glad you were wrong, huge 4 game sweep of SF. 10 of the last 11. Long way to go but sitting good today. Gotta keep it going. Been wayyyy too long since we've had meaningful games in mid August.

Long way to go, but if it ends up being stl chi and ny la in the nlds who gets the primetime slot? Typically for the 2 days there could be 4 lds games they have a 5pm ct and 830pm ct game. Hoping cubs cards would get 1 of those and alds games would be during the day (if tor gets in thats a lock for day games). Will not be happy if any nlds games during the week would be midday. If they would get to the lcs i know 1 game during the week will start at 3pm ct.

I remember this happening to Rizzo about a year or two ago. He caught a foul ball and flipped into the dugout. This allowed the runner on third to score. Technically, the ball does go out of play. I understand the rule.

I bailed after getting swept by the phillies at home.
I can't be a hypocrite and come back, can I?
I'm older now, I can't place so much emotion on each win or loss as when I was eight.
I am happy for those of you who never gave up,
somewhere deep inside this muddled brain of mine I am excited for the cubs.
    Pessimistic for ever though :heartbreak:

I almost bailed after the Phillies sweep, but Len Kasper reminded me there was a lot of season left. I'm glad I listened to him! Come on back, Malroth!

I still don't expect a deep playoff run if the cubs do get in. I have thought all season that we are still a starter, closer, and one more hitter away from making a deep run. This is a good season for all of the cubs to get playoff experience for next year. Because next year, the pressure will be on them.
  • Last-12-ExitLast-12-Exit Posts: 8,661
But could you imagine where the cubs would be if castro hit this year? Or we actually had a good bull pen?
  • HesCalledDyerHesCalledDyer Posts: 16,433
Just saw another article talking about a potential Samardzija return to the Cubs. When will it ever fucking end? He can take his career sub-.500 W-L and over 4.00 ERA and shove it.

I agree. He had one good year. And his record was still under .500 when they traded him. Don't want it, don't need it.

Best part is all the core guys are under control through at least 2020. Gives us a nice 5-6 yr window.
