For the record, I'll take the under as well. He's had a great spring training and he crushed it in the minors last year, but he'll be facing much better pitchers on a daily basis in the big show than either of those levels of play.

I am gonna say: slightly over 30 HRs for Bryant.
Saw him play with the Smokies... guy is a beast.
I have been "boycotting" the Cubs and focusing on the minor leaguers.
Maybe I am just optimistic but I think they are just a year away from doing some damage.

Edwin Jackson misses start because he drove to the wrong ball park. Then lets up 8 runs on 9 hits in 1 2/3 innings when he finally gets to the right place. Smgdh.

    Great

I would really like to see him turn it around and even hit near .240. At second base his power is special even with his low average but it can't be around .100! He just needs to work on his plate discipline and take a few more walks, also not swing at anything that leaves the pitchers hand!

Yeah, seeing him Iowa last year it seemed like he struck out every at bat that I saw. I like his power but if you can't hit the ball the power doesn't really matter...

The one guy I would LOVE to see just bust out this year?
Castro! I want to see this kid finally mature, off the field, and just have a BUST OUT YEAR!
I realize he is a 3 time all star, but we all know he is a head case.

I wanna see him hit .320, with 25 dingers.

That would be great if he could finally put it all together and have a season like that. I think he and Rizzo are key pieces to the long term success of the Cubs because they are now the "veterans" of the core players for this season and the near future. If you can get great seasons out of Rizzo and Castro I think it takes some pressure off of the young players that will be coming up this season. The Cubs have a very nice group of young hitters under control for a while and they should be fun to watch for many years!

Castro turned 25 yesterday. If he were to actually mature and get his head out of his ass, he could have close to 1800 hits by the time he turns 30.
Last year, the last 6 weeks, he was tearing it up! Then of course he got injured. He finished at .292, and had he played that last month, I think he would have hit .300. He was on fire when he got hurt.

I agree, if he can finally get everything together he will be a key piece for years to come. I like him hitting second in front of Rizzo, Bryant, and Soler where he can get plenty of pitches to hit and get on base for the sluggers behind him.

The one thing I want to see him improve on is his mentality as a defender. The guy always seems to make the most boneheaded plays at exactly the wrong time.

He only committed 15 errors last year.
Which is a GIANT step in the right direction.

But at times, like you said, he can be the biggest BONE HEAD on the field.

Yeah, but it always seemed like those errors were in the worst spots (late in a close game with men on). Just always seems like his head isn't in the game or he's distracted somehow.

    I truly am.
I haven't enjoyed anything about this team for a good 5 years.
    But I will try.

What I'd really like to see out of Castro this year is better base running - trusting his third base coach. It seems like every time the guy rounds second, his head's turned staring back at center or right.

And that's just fundamental baseball, that we all learned in little league.

Don't forget he rapes woman too...that is FACT, trust me on that one. He sure can hit a fastball thou. Anyone who learned how to be a big leaguer from Aramis Ramirez and Alfonso Soriano is suspect to me. Those attitudes are unacceptable in the Joe Madden book of baseball, let's see how Castro Adapts.

Schilling jutlst said that Bryant has 50+ homerun potential. I don't think I disagree.
  • Cubs did an amazing job with Sloan Park. Finally got to go see it yesterday and it was a blast. Bryant didn't play which was a shame but Soler and Coghlan did put one in the lawn right next to us.

Wood homered last night, Arrieta knocked one out (so far) today. Even our rotation is to be feared at the plate!

I definitely think he has high HR potential (stanton-esque) but I would be shocked if he feasted on MLB pitchers immediately. I would imagine every team, especially in the NL, is completely dissecting this kid at the plate to exploit his flaws.

This season if Bryant can hit 25-30 dingers
    Hit .270
    Have 80+ Rbi's
And strikeout less than 120 times

    Cubs fans should be THRILLED

Bryant and Baez got sent down today, not surprised about either. Hopefully they both can come up soon and be productive players at the major league level.
