Congrats to you. Love the throwback Cubs name. I don't have kids nor do I plan on having any, but if I do, Maddux is my first choice. But then again, how often do the fathers get to pick the name.

    Thanks

I'm so excited for the game tonight. I'm kind of glad we didn't clinch in St. Louis just because it'll be nice for the fans at Wrigley to see the guys celebrate at home. Really hoping I don't have to cancel my hotel reservation for October 29th and 30th.

Remember this date in Cubs history.

    Heyward just got a hit!

    Happens about once a week.

You mean he didn't hit two 2 hop grounders to 2nd and k twice???

I think Lester might be the guy to start game 1.
    Why not start Hendricks?

I honestly think who we start in game 1 will come down to match-ups. If it's a lefty heavy lineup, I say we go with Lester. Righty.....would it really matter? Arrieta, Hendricks....pick your poison.

Twins aren't a push over regardless of their record they will play competitive and good lord a 2nd basemen with over 40hrs that is getting zero attention in Dozier???

and did that atmosphere in SF last night remind you of a playoff game?

Congrats to the Cubs...that pains me to say

Realistically, everyone in the playoffs scares me. This will be the 8th Cubs post season I've been through. I'm scared of any team in the playoffs. Baseball, more than any other sport, is such a crap shoot when you get to the post season.

Agreed, though. The Nats will be tough......and Fucking Daniel Murphy.

Not embarrassed to say that I cried myself to sleep in '03... I too don't take any team for granted in the postseason. Anything can and will happen in baseball. That's part of the reason I love the game.

  • Playoff pitching rotation?
    Lester
    Hendricks
    Arietta

    I like the Cubs chances.
And I am going on a limb here and say Heyward hits .350 or better in the playoffs. Just have a feeling.

I was actually more disappointed in 2008. Best record in the NL, most runs in MLB, and we couldn't hit a Backspacer bouncy ball with a tennis racket against a team that finished 6 games over .500!

    1984 was the ULTIMATE DISASTER!
Up 2 games to 0. All they had to do was win 1 game in San Diego.
And they choked it all away.

Yes, 2008 was terrible as well... Between my Cubs and my Arkansas Razorbacks, I've had enough heartbreak in my short lifetime (28 years old, been watching since I was 4). I don't need any more, and I can't imagine the agony of fans who are older than me.

Yeah, the Nats aren't that far behind us. And on top of that they've got the Braves this weekend. We can't afford them picking up 2-3 games on us by Monday.

Immediately after game 7 in '03 I had a "release the demons" ceremonial burning of my Cubs hat on the sidewalk outside of the house I lived at with a couple of buddies. They still give me shit about it.....tell me I'm wacked out of my mind when it comes to the Cubs. Can't help it.
