It's really not that hard to understand why Arrieta didn't go game 1. If Lester starts game 2 that would've put him on 9 days rest. Again, that's wayyyyyy too far out of rhythm. 8 days rest was too long (obviously).

If we really want to call into question any decisions made about Lester, let's call out that fucking contract that gave every Cubs fan visions of Alfonso Soriano. Who should've started game 1 is small potatoes in comparison. (And to his credit, Sori actually turned out to be a decent ball player his last 2 seasons)

    Heyward in the offseason?

Yeah, don't celebrate until its done. As soon as the email came across my phone about the shirts, my exact words were "Welp, so much for fuckin winning now."

Ok now that I got that somewhat out of my system...
Let me talk like the typical, dunce cap wearing, idiot fucking Cubs fan, that I am.

Well, if we can somehow win tonight, then we have both Lester and Arrieta going in games 5 and 6. Anything can happen in a game 7. If we can just win tonight, I like are chances of forcing a game 7.

hell, yeah! just like when the cubs had prior and wood lined up!

    wait.....what?

On the bright side, the St. Louis Cardinals have never beat the Cubs in a postseason series.

You are our good luck charm, pureoc! Today IS Back to the Future Day, so who knows... maybe the rally begins tonight!

But no, seriously... 33 times in MLB history has a 7-game series started 3-0. In those 33 times:

1 - team has come back to win 4-3 ('04 Red Sox)
1 - team has ever even forced a game 7 ('04 Red Sox)
    3 - teams have forced only a game 6 ('04 Red Sox, '99 Mets, '98 Braves)
    5 - teams have forced only a game 5 ('04 Red Sox, '99 Mets, '98 Braves, '37 Giants, 1910 Cubs)
28 - teams have been swept

My thought was who the hell thinks they should sell a Cubs style shirt with their name on the back? What is the thought process? "The Cubs are winning! I as a musician living in Hawaii and Seattle should design a Cubs themed shirt to sell because the people need me to."

I don't get the hate for Lester in this series. He did about as good as anyone else. Arietta would have lost Game 1 too. Harvey was that good.

Ugh well that sucked. Finally got home. Hoping he's not on the team next yr but if he is i will not go to any game hammel starts, even if it means i eat my tickets. Best part was the pleasant surprise of Eddie doing the stretch. Great season, disappointing finish. Here's hoping we add the few missing pieces in the off season. That was a rough series.

The Mets were clearly the better team but it kills me how poorly we played in the series. Our bats were terrible -we never had the lead once in the series and could never get the leadoff man on base to start an inning. Montero, Rizzo and Bryant were all awful at the plate.

This series really highlighted our weaknesses. We need at least one more starter. As much as I like the flexibility of our players, we need to find a spot for Bryant and Schwarber in the field and get them more big league experience in those positions. For as awesome as Schwarber was at the plate, he looked lost in LF.

The good news is that this experience can only help the youngsters and we should have a solid team for a number of years.

Hopefully this is a good learning experience. Sometimes when things come too easily or quickly you tend not to work as hard. Hopefully they'll all work hard over the winter and build a dynasty.

Dont forget about Fowler, Schwarber, Castro, Ross, Baez, and any pinch hitter to come to the plate. Soler only player at .250 in the series. Ill give Schwarbs a break for his efforts the rest of the post season. Hopefully he can get rid of his newly aquired left field yips now. WTF?? How many balls are going to go all the way to the wall??

What a fucking disaster. Im with Speedy he said it best. I dont care if they have young talent, a great manager, and front office staff. Ive heard this all before many times. This series was the same as the previous two playoff series vs the dodgers and dbacks..cubs get swept so what has changed??? The sad part about all this is that these young kids expect to be back to this spot next year and the years to come..well they better ask to get delt since it wont be with the cubs. History shows that doesn't happen.

Listening to all these optimistic fans make me want to vomit. F the cubs, F the yupee fans, and F all the other idiots who are fine with "there's always next year" you are all a bunch of fools!!

Sometimes when things come quickly you should play free and without a care and perform well without pressure. Next year they will favorites and the pressure will mount.

question for the Cubs fans. Better to get swept and not have it be a heart broken loss or would you have preferred 2 or 3 Wins with great moments but then get beat in game 6 or 7 and have your heart broken more harshly? obviously you'd like some great memories but would it be worth it to be crushed at the end? love to hear some of your thoughts.

I would rather lose a game 6 or 7. Getting swept was embarrassing. For entertainment value alone I would prefer 6 or 7 games versus knowing the series was over after game 2.

This is why I choose concerts over sporting events these days.
Spend alot of money on tickets, just to feel bad.
