So glad I went to the show last night! Though bittersweet not having my dad by my side, it reminded me of my very favorite memory we ever shared together, seeing The Who, a band we both absolutely love, in 2008 for my birthday. Was a bit emotional, but a ton of fun. It was a fantastic show! Seeing The Who do Quadrophenia was something I never thought I would see, so it was a treat. Band was great, always a special treat to see Pino Palladino on bass- that guy rocks! Roger sounded pretty good, a bit inconsistent- there were some moments where I was like :? that was reeeally off, but other moments I was like  I can't believe he can still sound like that! But overall was fantastic, can't go into a Who show thinking they'll sound just like they did in the '60s! Pete stole the show for me- what energy and I just love his voice, too! Couldn't keep my eyes off of him! Another huge highlight was their tribute to John. That Ox solo was :o:o:o After Quadro it was awesome hearing a few 'greatest hits', too. Finally got the really calm crowd going! All in all a wonderful night. I hope my Dad was with me in spirit to see it too!

Last night's Who show in Montreal was fantastic, though Roger was having trouble hitting some of the notes. Luckily Simon Townsend was there to cover for him. I loved the opening band, Vintage Trouble. They are a must see. I felt like I was watching the new James Brown.

Like I said, there is ALWAYS a ticket.

Yeah, and I sincerely doubt I'm going to let myself miss both of those shows. One maybe, but not both. I mean, this is the FREAKING WHO we're talking about.
...And I couldn't let the date approach without buying a ticket. I'm seeing the Who on Friday!

Chris Stamp, one of The Who's early managers, along with Kit Lambert, has passed away.

No word yet on the cause but apparently he had been very ill for some time. Pete and Rog dedicated "Tea and Theatre" to him a few nights ago in Montreal.

RIP Chris. You and Kit helped create the success of one hell of a band.

    Edit: A little more information.
    Farewell, Chris Stamp

Unfortunate news has reached my desk this morning by way of Matt Kent's Naked Eye News. Chris Stamp died yesterday at Mt. Sinai Hospital where he'd spent the last two weeks. He was 70.

Brother of actor Terence, Chris achieved fame when he and his show-biz partner Kit Lambert went seeking stars for a film that would have tracked the rise of a young, English pop band. Stamp and Lambert settled on a Mod group called The High Numbers that Lambert had seen pumping out a set of Maximum R&B at the Railway Hotel on July 14, 1964. The partners decided to take the group under their managerial wings, first convincing them to revert to their previous name: The Who.

Chris Stamp and Kit Lambert led The Who through their first ten years, a decade in which they released much of their greatest music on Stamp and Lambert's Track Records, which also put out Jimi Hendrix's recordings in the UK. While Bill Curbishley took over management in the mid-seventies, Stamp remained a close associate of the band, and continued singing their praises in the 2007 documentary Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who.

Friday night's show in Toronto was great! I'm not the biggest Quadrophenia fan (I'm more of a Tommy & the Who Sell Out kind of guy), but the album takes on another dimension live. This was my second time seeing the Two live, and they killed it again. For me, the highlight was definitely the Thunderfingers solo/tribute in 5:15; it was a great tribute and a spectacular solo. I wish I could have seen the Ox just once with these guys, this show reminded me how great he really was. Of course the Keith tribute, too, was a highlight, but the Entwistle one got to me more. Aside from those I really felt the Punk and the Godfather, Love Reign O'er Me and Baba. Great show! I'm glad I didn't skip out on it.

It's not sold out, is it? There should be some good ticket drops by now.
