Such awesome news!!! Gonna try my very hardest to make this. Here's an article I found from Consequence of Sound: http://consequenceofsound.net/2012/07/the-who-announces-north-american-tour/

"The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Peter Townshend have announced plans for a massive North American tour, which will see them perform their classic 1973 album, Quadrophenia, in its entirety. The 36-date trek is broken into two legs: the band will hit cities along the East coast and in the Midwest from November 1st through early December. Then, following the holidays, they’ll tackle cities out west before wrapping up back east at the end of February.

Joining Daltrey and Peter Townshend on the tour will be Zak Starkey (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), Simon Townshend
(guitar/backing vocals), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Loren Gold (keyboards/backing vocals), and Frank Simes (musical director, keyboards/backing vocals).

An American Express pre-sale for the U.S. dates runs July 23rd-26th and July 23rd-25th in Canada before the general public on sales beginning on Friday, July 27th at 10:00 A.M local time. Click here for more information, as well as ticket details for members of the band’s fan-club.

As previously reported, The Who had planned to tour North America following their halftime performance at the 2010 Super Bowl. However, due to hearing problems experienced by Townshend, the band was forced to postpone those plans. While recovering, Townshend was heavily involved in the creation of the band’s Quadrophenia box set, which was released last fall.

“Prior to the tour, the band will host a special one-night in-theater screening of their new documentary, The Who: Quadrophenia -Can You See The Real Me? The Story Behind The Album. The screening will take place on Tuesday, July 24th and will feature “never-before-seen stories, including the well-known onstage collapse of drummer Keith Moon during the tour’s first show, the evening will also feature additional performances of songs from Quadrophenia, including the classic, ‘Love Reign O’er Me’,” according to a press release. Click here for tickets and screening information, and check out the film’s trailer below.

4 shows in close proximity to me... seems a little much. Honestly my favorite two members are dead and Quadrophenia is not the same without them.

Seems a bit ambitious to do so many huge arenas, but it will be amazing to see Quadrophenia in its entirety!

In 1997, the played Quadrophenia at the Forum in Los Angeles. It was first billed as "Quadrophenia, performed by Townshend, Daltrey and Entwhistle"....ticket sales were a bit slow, so they changed it to "The Who perform Quadrophenia, and finally, it was billed as "The Who perform Quadrophenia, plus the hits!"

Moon is the best drummer of all time IMO. Pete was a beast and he is definitely ahead of Roger for me, and well, okay he is tied with Pete :D. I will go to this if I can get decently priced tix, but that probably wont be the case.

In 2006, the last time they played the Pepsi Center in Denver, they had lots of empty seats in the rafters. I don't see that improving, unless they lower prices or get a good co-headliner.

Calling Pearl Jam- don't you all want to tour with The Who before they pack it in? (I don't see them doing this due to the ticket prices The Who charge- PJ would not tolerate it)

I'm definitely in! TM had prices listed as $36-$124 plus fees. Seems reasonable to me or at least not any worse than any other show I've been to lately. I checked into the fan club but you can't sign up. Does anybody know if their club works the same way PJ's does? Meaning did I need to already be in the club to participate in the pre-sale on Friday?
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

i love moon, there is no doubt about that, certainly up there in rank with the best of the best
i also thought zak starkey did/does a credible job and am excited pete & roger have included him on this tour
THE WHO SuperBowl XLIV Half-Time Show (TRUE HD)

besides my excitement, all i can think about is how fired up ed and jeff etc must be
they are all the same ages as me. quadrophenia has a special meaning for all of us
this one album was always on my turntable. it followed me around as i grew up from a punk kid to an adult
it was always a major reference point in my life and the film also goes along with the album. WOW

for me personally this is the biggest concert news in over 10 years

the 1996 tour was incredible. i'm so lucky to have another chance to witness it go down live

No, you can still join the fan club tomorrow or even Friday and get a presale code. They've been revamping the site for the last week or so, obviously in preparation for the tour, and it's a mess. Lots of members haven't been able to log in and people who are trying to join haven't been able to. I'd wait till tomorrow to try joining.

It says you can join now and still be eligible but the fan club site doesn't seem to have anywhere to join.

Like many fan clubs, The Who's fan club has been a rip off in the past with no better seats guaranteed for the $50 membership than the public onsale. And they might have VIP seating for the front rows, don't know yet.

Most of the hard-core travelers are on a private Who list and don't even belong to The Who fan club and we still get the best seats. There are some very skilled travelers in this group that manage front rows at many shows. Its a lot of work though, and I hardly have the energy for it any more.

No, it's $50 to join. I've been a paid member in the past and bought tickets through the fan club but I'm told if you have an AmEx card you can get better tickets through their pre-sales.

After they made the web site free I didn't re-up my membership. I'm on the fence about doing it now. Even if I do, I don't think I'd buy my tickets through the presale. You can get seats just as good or better if you wait for ticket drops.

Since there isn't a show anywhere near me, I'm still trying to decide which one I'll go to. I doubt I'll have made up my mind by the time of the presale.

    Yes.

For some reason Denver isn't on Ticketbastard yet, so I hope to find out if the fan club seats are worthwhile in the other cities first.

Word is TM won't be handling sales for all the shows. For instance there's a Philly show.

I hear you on that sentiment! One of the most memorable moments of my life so far was seeing The Who in 2008 with my dad. My dad introduced me to The Who when I was 2 years old, his favorite band from his youth. Saw them twice in the late '60s, one of those times being Woodstock. 39 years later, brought his daughter :) Pretty awesome stuff. Show was beyond incredible, as well!
