It did go to an extended outro but can't remember what Ed was singing.

Noteworthy as well, tagged Modern Girl to Not For You but didn't sing it.

    Yep!

Hearing the Modern Girl tag made me start tearing up. I was also a hot cathartic mess all through Down + Amongst the Waves, then cranked out the waterworks again for Inside Job + Off He Goes. Just Breathe eased those emotions into a space of gratitude and joy.

Both shows were excellent in my world.

No disrespect to people with real problems, but who needs a shrink if you have live PJ?

On to Amsterdam, Werchter and Arras. I have 5 spare Arras tix and a hotel room... but will be scrounging outside the Zeppo Dome. It has a way of working itself out.

    Went both nights
On the floor Wednesday - fantastic, allowed me to "sing my lungs out"

Last night (fucking amazing ) in block 203 with two friends that I was trying to turn on to this amazing experience - one never moved except to go to the bathroom, the other asked me what that song was after Evenfow - I feel like a failure.

But Mrs Milan had a ball both nights (10c seats wednesday and in block 203 with me last night). She bought a pirate £5 t shirt outside with the Christchurch poster image on the front, but horror of horrors, the Hyde Park 2010 gig details on the back - readers can see her Hyde Park reviews in the archive.

It's our 28th Wedding Anniversary today - celebrating with Bruce.

Nice one...I was solo and apshit on the floor for Weds, and up in 216 with a bunch of mates Thurs. It's like we're twinsies! ;-)
I figured I wouldn't be drenched with sweat if I were up in the stands... wrong again!
Love thinking of the 2 gigs as halves of whole.

Nothing but positive interactions too. I know it's already been sung ;-) Maybe a few jerks, but even the guy who sprayed a raspberry all over my neck and the guy who compared shirtless me to Schwarzennegger both ended up with laughs and high-fives :-)

I know it's already been sung, but it can't be said enoug!

Waited a couple of days for the euphoria to settle before posting, just so I can be sure of what I witnessed.

Had tickets to both nights, TC seats first night, seats second night - would you believe it block 102 both nights, about 5 rows difference!!! Awesome view even got a wave/thumbs up/wave response from Mike night one!!!!!!
So anyway, I've read all the posts to gather everyone elses opinions, and I don't think I'm alone in saying they were two absolutely kick-ass shows, but as others have already mentioned, it definitely now feels like I've listened to a double album - like the whole PJ experience was over the two gigs, and anyone who only went to one of them will probably now feel as though they missed out on something.

I took my 11 yr old son to both nights, he has now been fully converted to the PJ way, he was just astounded at the amount of love and adoration in the place. His favourite is 'Why Go', and kept asking whether they'll play it. I told him maybe, but as soon as that drum beat kicked in he recognised it as quickly as anyone, and was out in the aisle bouncing up & down for the whole song!!!!

Thought the setlists were both excellent, so pleased to hear Inside Job, shame about the forgotten lyrics in Hitchhiker as that is a real good Lost Dog!! The bands energy was top notch, considering there ages, and the fact they've not played live for 7 months - though I thought Jeff looked a bit tired on night 2 ( Yes, I'm a bass player!!!) but he was still leaping around like a trooper!! Ed's voice just gets better with age, Mike is the true showman, they all just looked like they were loving playing to a crowd, and with each other!!!

Now the dust has settled I'm actually feeling a bit depressed, because I really think that was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the GREATEST band in the world two nights running right on my doorstep ( Night 2 they came off stage at 23:10, I was sat on the sofa with a cold, cold beer at 23:45!!!!). Real jealous of all you others following them round Europe, if I could, I would!!!!!!

This was my second ever Pearl Jam show and I was absolutely blown away!
I was seating the night before but standing the second night and what a set list to be moshing too especially the first few songs!
I just let go and had the time of my fucking life...I jumped, I danced, I sang, I screamed, I cried!
I was still buzzing on my way home, getting quite emotional just thinking about what I had experienced, the people I met, grateful for being in the presence of something really really special.
I was speaking to a friend after getting home and they told me that people have an expectation of what the shows will be like but until you experience it for real...
I felt sad that it was all over...until next time.

Incredible Night. It edged night one but I agree with a previous poster who felt they were two parts of one experience. I think that is a great way summing it up. With regards to the temperature the Arena was a LOT cooler than 2009 and made for a better experience for fans and the band alike. The crowd was wilder tonight helped by the blistering start.

Setlist was killer. 'Off He Goes' - I couldn't believe they played it and an awesome version. 'Present Tense' was magic. 'Hitchhiker' was fun. 'RVM' - Crown went bananas when it came back in after the Jam. I loved 'Inside Job'. 'Great finish with 'Ledbetter'.

I have spent about £90 on merch over the two nights. Poster Night Two was better. It was an AMES design(also a pound more expensive?) I think I will leave the merch alone in Berlin! The tour t-shirts didn't grab me as much this time although the Shut and Listen t-shirt is fun.

A Big Hello to Leanne - Apologies for the sweaty hug at the end! I didn't really get to talk to the gang but I will hopefully meet you all in Berlin.
:lol: Just read this! Sorry we didn't have a chance to talk, but yep, in Berlin...and I didn't mind the sweaty hug :D

This show was utterly brilliant. It made me, grin, wibble, dance, sing, thank my lucky stars for having such awesome friends, and made me fall back in love with band again (not that I hadn't been loving them, but we'd reached comfy slippers stage).
If you saw a group of fans, Mike's side by the sound engineering desk, link up and form a circle for Alive and YL, or form the 'Ten' hands in the air pose in Better Man, yep that was us.

You wouldn't imagine the love for Down I grew during the past year, never cared for it, but with the boots I have and PJRadio help I got to listen to it a lot, plus with PJ20 movie I grew a new love for Bushleaguer as well, so I scored the 45, play it a lot... many people don't like Backspacer, not my fav, but I like it, a lot, I always liked Just breathe, Amongst the waves not that much, but I'm a PJ fan and love vinyl, so I have those two 45 as well, played them both last year while I waited the Buenos Aires show and grew a new love for Amongst the waves... Inside job, great song, superb, Avocado is my second fav album, and Off he goes, not great fan of No code but I always loved Off he goes, got that 45 too... so, I could say that 45's serve justice to songs...

The first time I had ever seen Pearl Jam, since getting into them quite late about 2/3 years ago when I was about 17. I'm gutted I was still in a pram for their early 90s shows what an amazing experience that would have been.

However, they blew me away on thursday night.... I didn't have tickets until the night before and didn't think I could afford to go but it turned out and I somehow managed the best seats! (standing would have been fun, but I could not argue with my view) Block 115, first row, 3 seats in! :)

I welled up at Better Man and Just Breathe and went mad for Even Flow & ended up badly twisting my knee. Anyways, perfect show, wish I got tickets to the night before in Manchester too, hell, wish I had money to follow them around Europe!

I ended up missing the Merch though which I'm deeply dissapointed at, does anyone know any means of getting my hands on a tee from the night and possibly a flag?!

(Finally just joined the Ten club aswell- always a latecomer!- don't really know what i'm doing but what a beautiful community!)

way to go Camille, congrats on your first show and joining the 10C the following day... have a blast!!!

I've seen PJ a number of times around Europe now, and Manc 2 has just tucked itself up behind Astoria 06 as my 2nd fave of all time, and Astoria is only top because it was my first and will never be beaten :D Manc 2 was a stunner of a show for me, it was amazing in all areas. Fantastic crowd around us in our section (115) and on the floor, band in great spirits and obviously in a very happy place right now, great sound at the MEN, great setlist, just great everything!

I took my parents and they absolutely loved it. The two previous shows they attended were Wembley 07 (a 10c setlist, they hardly knew any songs) and HRC 10 (not the best venue or crowd for two 60+ers!). Manc 2 they had fantastic seats (but stood the whole time!) and many songs they know and love. To top it off Mike threw in Little Wing at the end, both my parents being proper old-school Hendrix gig-goer fans. I think that completed an awesome night for them :D

Every once in a while you come on the forum to follow a setlist thread and spend the whole time wishing that one day you yourself can be a part of one of these stunning shows that you only seem to watch others enjoying. Tonight was my time to experience this, the kind of show that is usually exclusive to cities like Boston, NY or Philly. There are those who will disagree with this but unless you were one of those lucky enough to share the room then you'll never know. This was show 6 for me and I thought I'd seen a few really good ones so far but this one just blew me away.

I could say it was disappointing to hear that Of The Girl was on the setlist but dropping it for a frantic Go was the correct choice tonight. It was like stepping into Boise 2000 from the Touring Band DVD, Ed throwing athletic shapes, Mike tearing through the solos through heavy strobes with Matt firing on all cylinders behind him. Stunning already and the mike stand assisted jump Ed did at the end was evidence of his good recovery. Animal is always welcome to keep the ball rolling and my first Hail Hail made me have an even greater appreciation of the song. Two more firsts followed with I Am Mine, so much better than I imagined it could be and Wishlist with an extended outtro complete with pinhole lights all around the arena mimicking the mirrorball, it was really beautiful!

Even Flow kickstarted things again and I don't remember hearing a better solo, Mike was relentless and he was backed solidly by the rest of the band who were truly very much on fire. A blast through Lukin into Not For You had the whole place swaying and the call and response part before "All that's sacred" was really good fun. I love hearing Down live, it seems to get the whole band in a very up mood, one they kept up for Amongst The Waves, actually my least favourite live PJ song but it was followed by one of my favourites Daughter. I wonder if the band are paying attention to the requests on here now as someone had recently posted how they have never added a tag in Manchester before and W.M.A. is for me the best of all, especially as it was quite extended. It's more probable they tagged this though in light of the recent sad death of Rodney King.

The explanation behind Deep was good to hear and it makes you have a more visual aspect to the song, in my opinion one of the darkest songs they have written. It was a great version and first I believe in Europe since Rotterdam 93! Present Tense is a top 5 song for me and this version made me think of some of the Binaural tour versions, very gentle between Ed and Mike, taking a bit longer to kick in and gaining in intensity towards it's climax. This was the point I thought it couldn't surely get much better but this show just kept it's momentum of highs, subtleties and surprises. Once gave me my usual hope of getting the mamasan trilogy (someday maybe) and the crowd fairly belted out the chorus. Checking the time I thought Save You was going to close the main set but we were treated to a full Betterman/Save It For Later with great crowd singing, the obligatory first verse/chorus and some good call and response and it was a great bouncy finish.

Everyone was speaking during the encore break of how this show had been unexpectedly good and for some already their best yet so the encores were only going to cement that fact if they could even come close to matching the momentum. A few people were expecting Ed to come out with an acoustic and Just Breathe would drop into it's most common spot on the set but when Mike walked out with the Gibson double neck and strummed the intro to Inside Job the atmosphere in the room was amazing. Although I've always rated the song quite highly nothing prepares you for just how good it actually is live. When the acoustic did get strapped on I was also expecting Just Breathe so to get a beautiful, note perfect Off He Goes for my first time was really unexpected and it was a definite high point from all my PJ shows. The version of Just Breathe played was of course lovely but I hope this isn't just going to be an excuse every show to dedicate a slow song to a couple of newlyweds when there are other songs MIA like Thin Air, Parachutes that could occasionally fill that void. There's not a single person in that arena who could ever have guessed Ed's speech about Manchester and some of the innovations that have emerged from it would have led to a first ever Hitchhiker. It was great to hear it, I know it wasn't completely perfect but it was a joy to be among those hearing it for the first time and it's a fun song too. Ed picked up the telecaster to close the set with a version of RVM riddled with lyrical flubs (getting the first and second verses the wrong way around and forgetting a few lines then because he'd confused himself) but the intensity of the jam and the outtro was breathtaking and the reception they received from it was deafening. If they'd called it a night then I'd have gone home happy.

Ed is always very gracious about the support band and the fans and what it all means to them so we got a nice speech over Boom's keys which were obviously going to segue into Wasted Reprise and got me hoping for Life Wasted. I got my wish and it's another song which is better in the flesh with Mike again going for it in the solo. Alive was the usual euphoric rush and had the place jumping in celebration which is always spectacular to be a part of. After no Yellow Ledbetter on night 1 I was hoping deep down that Indifference might even get played in addition to it but I knew it was played here in 09 so wasn't surprised when it wasn't played. I was surprised however by Sonic Reducer, it was one of those songs that I thought I might hear if I attended enough shows but being limited to travelling to as many as some do didn't think it was very likely. YL of course slotted into it's place under full house lights and although Mike wavered on a solo for the first time of the evening but he got it back to what he does best and put the icing on the cake with the gorgeous Little Wing tag.

It's hard to find a fault in a show like this and I hope to see the band back in the UK in the next year or two so I can experience highs like this again. The whole band seem invigorated right now and Ed looks leaner and sounds better than he has for quite a while. Stone and Jeff are the fabric holding it all together and Matt seems to be at his best with a busy schedule and two bands to occupy. It was hard to hear much of Boom on night one but he had his part to play more tonight. Until next time, thanks to the band and the people in the venue for making this experience one to remember. If this is the band getting warmed up then very special things are about to come to those across the North Sea and I believe this will be the year where the requests are fulfilled so I'm expecting setlists with Oceans, Ghost and Strangest Tribe to appear over the coming shows. Fingers crossed for you all I hope you all enjoy what could be a momentous tour!!

but it was followed by one of my favourites Daughter. I wonder if the band are paying attention to the requests on here now as someone had recently posted how they have never added a tag in Manchester before and W.M.A. is for me the best of all, especially as it was quite extended. It's more probable they tagged this though in light of the recent sad death of Rodney King.

That was me. Got quite excited when they started WMA!!! I was videoing it too, so I'm sure my squeals of delight will be heard when I finally re-watch the videos :lol::lol:

    Great review Veddertown :clap::clap::clap::clap:

Really summed up a lot of things i wanted to say but difficult to put into words after the euphoria of such a great gig.

Amazing that after 20 years this band is still determined to keep the levels so high, bring on A/dam and Berlin.

We were fornt row of 203, surprisingly great seats. Anyway, I stood up at the start and a few behind me stayed seated for a while. I think they just got sick of me after a while and stood up, but no way im sitting. Nobody said anything, but really, why would you sit down???

Absolutely spot on!! We were first row of section 202 for night 2 - luckily the entire first row of that section was standing. I was standing in front of the ONLY 3 people in the section who chose not to stand (all 3 were wearing Metallica t-shirts). WTF is up with that?! They luckily didn't say or do anything, but it would not have been pretty if they had.  :o:D

I was in section 115 for night 1 and the entire section was standing, dancing, rocking out. But night 2 it looked like that section was dead - as I rocked and danced in section 202! :?

I was at Manchester 1 and the gig was great etc, I was also at Hard Rock Calling 2012 - similar setlist, so when I see the fantastic setlist for Manchester 2 I feel ripped off! Just saying.....
