The Newsroom

The romantic BS between Maggie/Jim & Don was nonsense and stupid (IMO)...
There were SUPER moments to this show throughout the season and I am so glad its being picked up for another year...
Loved Charlie - last nights episode in particular there were quite a few great moments:
Charlie finding out Hancock committed suicide -(powerful reaction and acting job)
Jane Fonda's character realizing she had been had -
Will unplugging the IV and getting back to work -
The girl from the first episode audience coming to work for Will -
DISLIKED the Sex and the City stuff, Sloan revealing a crush on Don..., wanted to see Reese get arrested or something too (he got off way too easy for such a hideous crime) I felt like I was robbed of a good 20 mins last night - now we gotta wait a year
I read today the whole season was in the can before the 1st episode even aired - Sorkin couldn't adjust, re-edit anything. Hopefully he continues on the powerful messaging and leaves the romance crap out of it...
Great show with room for improvement
I could write a review but i would just say pretty much everythink you said
I think the romance bs has put a fork in it for me. I don't mind romance and love interest stuff but not when its done like this.
The sex in the city scene.....no comment :fp:
charlie had the best lines

I really wish more people would see this point.
I loved the final episode. I really didn't have any expectations going in and I can definitely say that it was one of the best episodes. I got so into it and excited when they played Baba O'riley and Will was getting back to work.
I love how they are hiring the girl that asked the first question at the university. I think Will is really going to make her great.
Jim is too nice of a guy... Alot of people are hating on this storyline but I like it.
I thought the telephone hacking meeting was cleverly setup and Charlie is such a great actor.
I wish NewsNight 2.0 with Will was a real show. If they actually wrote a real news show the same way as the one in the show then I would watch it everyday. No garbage. Been away from the board for a while, came back to see this thread.
Glad y'all have pretty much summed up my feelings on this show.
When it's about the news, incorporating fictional drama into real life past events, sprinkling in some sobering facts all within a newsroom setting ... show was fantastic.
All the romantic bullshit surrounding it ... complete, vomit inducing nonsense. A little would have been fine, but it was a non-stop series of Three's Company-esque misunderstandings, all season long.

During the finale, I was more aware than usual of just how similar "Jim Harper" is to "Jim Halpert."
Jim and Maggie of "The Newsroom" are NOT Jim and Pam of "The Office."0 -

Love this show. Cant wait til the new season starts. The opening scene was AMAZING. He basically took everything I think but couldnt put into words and articulated it perfectly.
Also having Olivia Munn on the show ensures that I will watch every week regardless.Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

Sweet!
Somehow I missed this last summer, but the 1st episode was on the other night on DISH network and I was impressed. If HBO does as usual, I'll be able to get caught up in the weeks leading up to the season premiere."Then the Spirit of God hovered over the water, and God said, Let there be music, and there was Pearl Jam."
Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?0 -

Look on line. You should be able to find it somewhere. I am sure they will run another marathon leading up to the new episode. They always do.Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

Wow, this show is fucking phenomenal. Got my wisdom teeth out today and looks like I will be spending this weekend getting up to date.
Outstanding stuff0 -
Just watched the entire 1st season on demand over the past few days. Pretty damn good. It can be a bit preachy at times and some of the dialogue can be a bit crazy but that is to be expected w/ Sorkin. Also, great song selections for some of the montages. "Fix You" by Coldplay was just awesome. "High and Dry" by Radiohead was great and of course "Baba O'Riley".
I was never a huge fan of Olivia Munn. Now she's one of my favorites.0 -
Cannot wait. Occupy Wall Street stuff should be good.
I also look forward to Breaking Bad, final episodes...What's your part, who you are?

Looking forward to season 2 kicking off on Sunday night. It looks like Will's "American Taliban" comment about the Tea Party caused a real shitstorm. I'm also looking forward to some more Olivia Munn.0
