I saw a quick teaser about this show where Jeff Daniels said that rather than shoot in an existing TV station/studio, they basically built their own custom made, fully functional TV station. He said with the exception of a satellite, they could almost broadcast from it. As someone in video production, I can't twait to see this. (although sadly, it won't replace Jonah :( )

Every time I want to cancel HBO for a few months, another show comes along. By the time this is over, Boardwalk Empire will be back....looks like I'm HBO all year round.

I thought it had soem really great moments and some clunky moments. Good enough that i'll be back again next week. hoping they tighten up some.

The first 10 minutes and the last 30 or so were great. Some of the development felt awkward to me.

I did love the station manager (the one that was drinking OBAN at the end. nice scotch choice!) line to Don (i think his name was done the producer that left)
    something to the effect:
If you don't shut your mouth i'm going to kick your ass i don't care how many energy bars you eat I'm a Marine!:lol:

    That was brilliant sir!
Methinks I smell the makings of a drinking game
    for this new series.

That was great. It could have also included every character on The West Wing saying a dismissive "ok" over and over again.

I'm not sure what show the critics were watching, but I thought it was outstanding. Sure it's idealistic, a little over-dramatic, and it's certainly a fantastical view of the world of live news, but I was thoroughly entertained and engaged. Outside of sports, I'm to the point where the only networks I need are HBO, AMC, and Comedy Central.

I think it has a lot of potential, good first episode, I thought the Sam Waterston guy from Law & Order was really funny, like his character a lot so far.
