I'm a huge fan. I'm so psyched that Aaron Sorkin is back on TV.

yeah that last 10 minutes of last night's episode was the most riveting thing i have watched on tv in quite some time.

i remember where i was when the networks were saying that giffords had died. i was on an eliptical machine at the gym and i stayed on it for an extra 30 min to watch cnn, who had reported that she passed while i was still on the machine, and then they changed the story....it really struck me when the guy in the control room had typed her birth year - 2011, and then he deleted it.

the coldplay song was a nice touch. i think it heightened my emotions for sure...

    good stuff hbo!

I really hope this show starts getting the attention it deserves. It's really some of the best writing/acting on TV. Glad to hear they have been renewed for a second season. Hopefully HBO is smart enough to give it a better lead in than True Blood. I know the show is popular, but I can't imagine much of that audience is staying tuned in for The Newsroom.

I'm still watching but i don't think it is that good. It has good moments but it has plenty of moments that are trying to be funny but just fail. The Bigfoot thing...... i see what they are tryign to do but it didn't work.

I like it enough i'll watch the entire first season to see if the writers catch stride because when they are good its nice drama, but I have a feeling they may not pull it together for an entire episode the entire season.

yeah the bigfoot thing was forced but that's one of sorkins plot devices for character development and in this case to get everyone in on a saturday so they would all be there for the giffords shooting...it reminded me of big block of cheese day from the west wing...just some nonsense that furthers the plot

I've been watching the past couple of weeks and I really enjoy the show. Thought it might be in trouble because of the some of the early negative reviews, but I think HBO has already picked it up for a second season.

I knew the woman who plays Mack sounded familiar...she voiced "Holly Shiftwell" in Cars 2. After having to watch that 15 times, you tend to pick out voices.

You have to be an HBO subscriber, but it's actually pretty cool. Damn near everything HBO has ever done is up there. Sorry FrankieG

I keep saying to myself, "I'm gonna go on demand and start watching it so I can catch up and watch it when the episodes air." I have yet to do this. This is what happens when I have 2 seasons worth of "Cheers" and the first season of "The Larry Sanders Show" on the DVR. Way behind on my show watching.

I will eventually start watching "The Newsroom".

    hmmm...
Aaron Sorkin has been doing press all week defending his critically-panned HBO show, “The Newsroom,” but behind the scenes he's cleaning house.

Most of the writers on the cable drama about a Keith Olbermann-type television news demagogue have been fired, sources with knowledge of the show told The Daily. "They're not coming back, except for Sorkin's ex-girlfriend [Corinne Kinsbury]," one source said. [Sorkin is currently dating "Sex and the City" actress Kristin Davis.]

The show was renewed early for a second season and it's unclear how many writers will replace the departing staff.

In the mostly collaborative world of TV, Sorkin is famously known for penning most the scripts himself, and "The Newsroom" had a smaller writers' room than most TV shows with less than 10 credited writers. It's not uncommon on other TV series run by powerful showrunners to turn over staff.

"Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner is known to replace scripters every season, sometimes right after they turn in an episode.

“I create these shows so that I can write them,” Sorkin told Vanity Fair in the May issue. “I’m not an empire builder. I’m not interested in just producing. All I want to do is write. I came up as a playwright — writing is something you do by yourself in a room."

“That said, I couldn’t possibly write the show without that room full of people. I go in there, and we kick around ideas. I’m writing about all kinds of things I don’t know anything about. So they do research for me,” the Oscar-winner added.

A rep for HBO told The Daily, "Every year each show reassesses the needs of its writing staffs. This process is nothing out of the ordinary."

So far I love this show. Hope they keep the pace the same. I like how it rolls right along. I can see last weeks horrific shooting in CO as a plot in the show in the next season or two like the gulf oil spill and the AZ shooting has been.
