Going to see them in London in October...and get to go to sound check thanks to ilockyer

I saw them last month in AC with Cage the Elephant and I was honestly blown away by the crowd and Fallon's performance. Really digging them now but is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling he will be going solo in a few years? I haven't been following the band that long or too closely, but he seems to be the most talented member by a longshot. The other guys just kind of stand there and didn't seem to bring anything that a backing band wouldn't be able to.

You can probably say this about tons of bands. I hate the idea of going "solo". So all you really do is replace your old band with a band of people who don't seem to care that you're marketing yourself under your own name and the fact that they get little to no credit for helping you.
I don't know so much about going solo properly, but I think it's likely the Horrible Crowes project will yield another album, and maybe he'll do a solo album. That said, he had a solo myspace thing for a while (and posted a couple of things on it) but got a bit overwhelmed by the interest and got rid of it so...
They've done 4 albums and an EP in just under 6 years which is very rapid output by anyone's standards, so I wouldn't be surprised to see another album end 2013/early 2014 and then maybe a break for a couple of years.
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

I dont know about the solo thing. And who knows how their process works in the studio....I doubt it is just Fallon doing everything himself. From some interviews I have read, it sounds like it's a collaborative process with the whole band.

I don't know about the whole solo thing. I see them growing as a band. In the early days of Pearl Jam ED did a lot of the lyrics. Now it is more of a band effort. I see Brian becoming one of the great front mans
True. Again, I don't really follow them too closely so they probably get along just fine...just kind of stood out to me from the concert that he was just a natural born entertainer. And that's awesome to see they are coming back so soon!

Why did I have to move away from MD? I miss the 9:30 Club and all the amazing shows it gets.

I read an article/Interview recently on them in Oz Rolling Stone and Brian has said he has ambitions for the band to be one of the great American bands of all time.. This doesn't sound like someone who wants a solo career. Of course things can change, but I believe he loves The Gaslight Anthem and anything else he does will just be side projects (Horrible Crowes - Awesome album too) or maybe a solo project in a break, ala EV Uke songs.
I love this band and with the strength of Handwritten, I think they are on the right path for a brilliant, long career,
I'll ride the wave where it takes me

Although the ticket process was smooth both NYC shows sold out by 10:02 AM. General on sale is Friday for a string of shows in the Northeast in November.
Also, am I not the only one who thinks this was not a fan club only sale?
POP POP!
and yes new record is absolutely incredible. Here's hoping for a Pearl Jam/Gaslight Anthem tour in the spring/summer!

I was able to get tix for Philly and NY #1. I grabbed NY first because I assumed it would be tougher. I was correct.
I am not a fan club member but my buddy is. He forwarded me the link because he was in a meeting. That link would have worked for anyone. The registration for the ticket site was not linked to anything related to the fan club.
The site was a bit sluggish for the Philly purchase. Kept on timing out for me. Had visions of F5 but not even close to that nightmare!

Yeah they're still working out the fan club. There's not even a fan club website that you can go to and log in to yet.
I guess we'll have to exercise a bit of patience with the 45C. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like too many where shut out of the presale. Anyone get their fan club package yet? Mine is in transit and I'm curious to see what my number is.
Just joined the 45 club yesterday, so I missed out on the presale... and I don't know if I will be able to swing tickets to Philly or NY.... Why mid-week shows? I got class! ugh..

As dottles mentioned earlier in the thread, seeing them in London after winning a freebie from HMV. Really looking forward to it, more so now that Dave Hause (of The Loved Ones) is opening. May actually be looking forward to Dave more than them...
Handwritten has taken a while to grow on me, I'm not a fan of Brendan O'Brien's production on anything over the last few years, and this is no exception. Having got beyond that, 45, Handwritten, Desire, Mae and National Anthem are great. Biloxi Parish sounds like it's had the life sucked out of it though, but I'm so used to the live version it probably never stood a chance!
