time to be less civil and more demanding of our leaders!
not sure Romney was the best choice for that though ...

where's the wife cheatin liar when you need him

As a nation, have we been civil with our leaders or just plain apathetic? And have we been less than honest about the realities of the world around us? I think so. The fact that peak oil and its effect on our economy, for example, is seldom discussed by either the general populous or our leaders is a good example of this. I don't see enthusiasm of the sort Mr. Nugent has to offer as taking us anywhere useful.

Ted is outspoken, passionate, loyal to his roots ie ... the constitution.
This sneaky ass crap our government is doing taking our personal rights and freedoms away in the guise of "protecting" us is bullcrap. :nono: this both reds and blues
It would be the height of ignorance to allow that to continue to happen.
Pandi, political beliefs aside, Ted wrote a song about putting a woman in a "stranglehold" and "smashing" her face.
In my eyes, that alone makes him a colossal prick.
Fuck Teddy and his peanut sized manhood.
Just my opinion.
Peace, Love.

I'm very glad you responded to this, Hedonist. No, this was not directed at you. I mostly don't agree with your comment but I certainly do respect it because your statement is a reflection of your honest feelings on the subject and not an attempt to bate. I apologize if it appeared that my comment was directed toward you.
My comment was a reaction to another post and I don't want to get personal here so I'll just say more generically that having to deal with bating, trolling posts on AMT is always a drag. There are people here who like to try to bate others. That's not the same as stating an opinion. You can state a controversial opinion or one you know others will disagree with in such a way as to not be baiting. Hedonists post is a good example of doing just that- one persons true thoughts stated with forthright honesty in civil manner. That's not the same as trying to bait others. Baiters know who I'm talking about and you know what I mean.
Thanks Hedonist.
Thank you back
And pandora, thanks for the view on Stranglehold; I always thought the riffs kicked ass but hadn't considered the lyrics from the perspective you mentioned. Makes sense.

this comes to mind but I have a feeling anything anyone would list for you
you would view not as a loss but a gain in national security ...
the basis I disagree with.
This one can tell from the fact you see no evidence and are perhaps trusting of those in power.

Nugent's a blowhard and says stupid, over-the-top, self-aggrandizing things but I really don't see how anyone took what he said as a threat unless they only heard the 30-second soundbite. His whole speech was about the government taking away rights and his point was that he thinks he'll either wind up being killed because he won't be allowed to arm/defend himself or he'll wind up in jail for breaking one of the laws he thinks will be passed to take away our rights (like gun ownership). I think his point was absurd (I don't think you'll see people forced to give up their guns, let alone by this time next year), but it was hardly threatening (although it was worded in an awkward way--I guess he just assumed people would know what he was implying and God knows that the media is far too dumb and/or unwilling to pick up on subtlety).
His whole "if you disagree with me then you're not a patriot" schtick is tiresome and seems like t's geared more towards stroking his own ego than anything else.
Ted gets attention ... maybe in the years to come he'll run for office
with Hank Jr as his running mate  just kiddin

the Patriot Act has given the governement more rights and freedoms, it hasn't really taken away any of your freedoms at least as i define freedom. how is YOUR life different today because of the Patriot Act? is there one thing in YOUR life that you can't do today that you did before the Patriot Act?
not saying the Patriot Act is right, fair or just...but it really has had very little affect on the average american.
so again what can't you do today that you could say 5-10 years ago?

Didn't think this was gonna be an anti-Ted-thread!
Yes, he entertains. Good for Ted, and good for us. His music, I dig...have done so since I was a kid.
And, to me, I see some sense and a refreshing lack of bullshit and PC-ness to counter his off-the-wall comments.
(much like myself and many I know)
Anyway, yeah. I like him.
So there
Hedonist, I have to say this that not many times in my life I would comfortably use the word HATE but in the case of this idiot Ted Nugent I will say so with peace. This is based soley on something he did at one of his concerts that hurt a friend of mine. I can say i hate this guy and to me he's a fucking idiot...he finds ways to bring out the worst in me. I can tell you what he did in a pm tired of putting it on this board.

Oh Boy, basically he told HIS fans to rape my friend as he stood above the first 15 rows. He urged to crowd to do so "rape her rape her" who then ripped he clothes and bra. I got seperated from her....If i didn't bust through a bunch of people to get to her then fight them off to get her out of there...who knows what that idiot would have continued to let HIS FANS continue to do.
What so called musician allows HIS FANS to do this to another fan of his or just another human being. Basically that's why I think he's a piece of shit never ever have I seen an incident like that in the 700+ concerts I've seen in various genres of musical concerts.
She was lucky to drag me along to go, he wasn't an interest of mine only that it was my friend and a rock concert. I'm done :(

nugent loses any credibility he may have as a constitutionalist by supporting romney ... if there was a candidate totally entrenched within the establishment ... it's romney ... the guy does what most ignorant people do ... they don't think critically ... they rationalize the world around them to suit their beliefs ...

I don't have the privacy I used to have. Or at least thought I had. Not saying I can compare it to very much.. I'm only 19.
people need to differentiate between perceived and actual freedom ... it used to be that one was free to live their lives without fear of invasion of privacy ... these days - you could be monitored in your internet usage, phone, etc without consent ... also, you can be renditioned to another country for torture without consequence ... sure, it so happens you haven't been but many have ... most people that were held in guantanamo were innocent of any crimes ... also, people like maher arar who has never done anything wrong got put on a plane and sent to syria to be tortured without cause nor compensation ...
