props to the jury for not being swayed by the emotion of it all.
I don't know gimme... a jury of 6 women (apparently 5 white and 1 possibly hispanic). I'm sure the defense played on some 'fears' a number of women may have ref their safety and emotion played a good part in the verdict.
But, not having been at the trial and heard everything the defense team said, it's just a 'feeling' but I wouldn't put it past them....
I read that the Philly pigs were caught robbing drug dealers, and even robbing and beating up innocent civilians and throwing them in jail if they complained.
Then again, maybe I've just seen too many Spike Lee movies?
Geezuz Byrnzie... don't rile people up too much. Pretty soon they'll start on the teachers and paint us with a big broad brush as well. Have you read some of the sick school teacher headlines lately?
Not saying all cops are bad. But sounds like the Philly cops have a lot to answer for.

don't it sound a little odd there were only 6 members of the jury ? and all women ?? shit even John Gottie got 12 jurrers
it just seemed to me that the state did everything they could (and unfairly) to stack the odds aginst zimmerman and withholding evidense as well ? I am suprised zimmerman walked on this one.
The Justice Department has responded to appeals to probe whether George Zimmerman committed any civil rights violations in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin -- but previously filed FBI documents are already challenging the narrative that the shooting was racially motivated.
Sanford police detective Chris Serino told FBI agents last year that after examining the case, it appeared Zimmerman was suspicious of Martin because of his "attire, the total circumstances of the encounter and the previous burglary suspects in the community."
Something a lawyer friend posted somewhere that I thought was a good read. I actually don't agree with it totally, but thought it was well reasoned.
"Just like Casey Anthony, there wasn't enough evidence in the George Zimmerman trial to overcome the reasonable doubt that the defense instilled in the jury. The system worked EXACTLY how it was supposed to based on the laws in Florida. A "murderer" didn't go free in EITHER case - both accused were found not guilty by a jury of their peers.
The system worked perfectly. It's designed to make it difficult for the government to restrict your liberty, and rightfully so. The state has to meet the highest burden of proof we have to ensure citizens' liberty. It's just that, based on the laws of Florida and the facts of the situation, the prosecution wasn't able to meet that standard...so the presumption of innocence stands. This isn't the court of public opinion, which doesn't care about logic, facts, laws, or evidence - emotion reigns supreme in that "court" and it has already sanctioned Zimmerman.
If you're upset that Zimmerman has gotten off "scot-free", don't be upset for too long. He hasn't. His reputation is destroyed. The life he knew before this incident is no more. It will be hell for him to get a job. He'll probably have to move across country and change his name to avoid the stigma attached to him by the aforementioned court of public opinion. He'll still have to defend himself against a wrongful death suit that will be filed by Martin's family...and in civil court the burden of proof is "preponderance of the evidence". All the family will have to show is it was more likely than not that Zimmerman caused a wrongful death and they'll get a financial judgment against Zimmerman that will destroy whatever life he could possibly have left.
I don't have an issue with people being upset because their perception of the case didn't match the hours and hours of testimony heard by the jury - that's perfectly understandable. I do have an issue with people calling Zimmerman a "murderer"; those people are completely ignoring the fundamental basic of our justice system - a defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Zimmerman was found not guilty in a court of law, therefore he is not a "murderer". Do not call him that if you're an American."

I knew there was a race issue here somewhere.....zimmerman is mexican/white ? but now it's a white issue :fp:
jesse jackson should be arrested for insiting a riot
I still don't enough about this to make my own judgement 100%.
But it seems as though there is some serious reasonable doubt with the laws we currently have. So it makes sense to me.
The thing I think everyone of us should be upset about are the laws in place that can allow/encourage this to happen and the thug life attitude that encourages this to happen as well.
We don't live in a video game, it's real and people will die when shot. We need to stop glorifying the thug life, mostly in the inner city and minority communities. We also need to stop the nonsense with guns. There is no reason to take the gun out of your house to go follow and check on someone.
Things arent black and white my friend. Or they are if you need to meet quota. Cops see blacks as criminals. plain and simple.
Cops are brutal by nature. How can someone walk around with mace, batons, guns, handcuffs tazers and not be going on a power trip and just itching to use that stuff?
I think you may need to consider using the word "some." I'd hate to see you get too lost in your own propaganda.
See, cops are not brutal by nature. That is just preposterous.
But perhaps some cops are brutal by nature.
Cops dont see blacks as criminals. Quite a bold statement.
But perhaps some cops see blacks as criminals.
You are aware that there are black cops too, right?

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I know, insane right?
So, according to musicmylife's logic since there are black cops, and cops think all blacks are criminals, then they see themselves as criminals too. Got that?
Obama holder jackson sharpton media - made this about race.
If you think i am incorrect.
Ask yourself ..."where is the outrage of blacks killing blacks on a daily basis in America? Where are the above mentioned voices for these killings?"
....becaues there are no monies to be gained.
BOOOYAHHH !!!

This case did seem to gather a lot of media attention given the variables it had to work with and story lines it could spin. This was definitely a tragedy, but on a daily basis... there are seemingly dozens of even more disturbing and equally tragic killings that nobody outside of the local area hears about.

People comparing this case to any other cases of black on black murder or black killing white murder etc are missing the point. In most those cases there is a quick arrest and people go to jail for life so it was not comparable to this case.
This case was about the Stand Your Ground Law and how it applies to an armed man vs an unarmed minor. When there was no arrest for two months and those sound bites started to leak it did look bad at thet time and I could see why the black leaders started to push for an arrest. I mean an unarmed 17 year old was dead and it seeemed like no one cared. And it was in the south so people were suspicious.
After the arrest the only reason why there should have been any racial discussion is that the Procescution had to prove that Zimmerman was stalking Martin and to do that they went with his racial profiling past and how Zimmerman said "THEY" always get away with it etc.
What makes this case interesting to me was the fact that it was so UNLIKE any story I've heard in a long time. I learned a lot about the Stand Your Ground law and how it can easily be manipulated to help get away with murder. I mean leave no witnesses and who's to say you weren't being attacked or feared for your life. People should be protesting this stupid law and not the verdict in the trial.

"There will be protests, but they must be carried out with dignity and discipline," he told CNN's "New Day."
