As one source explained it, there’s a sense that investigators want to make that connection, and a perception that they are showing frustration when unable to tie the video crew to the football employees."

    :D

    And the last line:

"For now, there’s no proof of any such tie — and no reason to currently believe there will be one."

Yet the search lead by lead investigator pjhawks soldiers on, with short breaks for a bowl of Chunky Soup when time allows.

Come on, it's completely believable that Belichick hired freelance camera operators from outside media organizations for his illegal sideline taping scheme, a scheme for which he requested permission from the Cleveland Browns to operate, from the press box, in front of Bengals' staffers by super secret under cover spy camera men wearing... Boston Bruins gear.

    :D

so why did they tape the sidelines for 8 minutes? why did they want to erase the tape as soon as they were caught? give me one good possible reason they were taping the sidelines?

Word from the producer was it was for B roll footage to edit in to interviews with the scout, showing what he looks at from the press box.

Sounds just like something a producer of a television show would say... bet Belichick coached him to say that. :D

no producer in the world would voluntarily erase footage they shot without putting up a hell of a fight. the only reason you would try to erase the footage is because you know you were doing something you weren't supposed to and got caught.  funny how the answer is exactly what the Pats reportedly had told previous tapers to say if they got caught.  mere coincidence i'm sure.

look our minds aren't going to be changed and we can go back and forth for hours on this.  Pats fans are like Trump supporters that would support him if he shot someone on 5th avenue. Pats fans will never admit what the rest of the world knows.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is my betting kryptonite. Any game he's a part of I never win. Yet I never learn. He's the modern day Stoney Case. Of course he screws with the ol' Pats second half line. Should've known better.

As someone who has enjoyed winning money on New England games for such a long time, I am hesitant to say this but.....I think the end is here for them. Don't recall them laying such an egg to such a team with so much on the line. Titans will give them all they can handle.

I heard Fitzdog is the oldest player to lead his team in rushing yards and rushing TD's since Marcus Allen.

Probably the best 5 win season ever.  No one was picking this team to even be close in a game this year, how they were almost a lock to go 0-16, players were actively seeking trades before week 1, etc, etc.

First overall pick would have been nice, very true.  But as long as two NFL teams exist in Ohio, tanking for the #1 pick will always be a risky strategy.

I took the Dolphins moneyline (just had a hunch) and won big yesterday. I’m going to take the Titans next week because they’ve been way better than the Pats over the past month. But I’m not ready to declare the Patriots dynasty dead just yet though. They had a similar week 17 loss to Miami in 2015 that cost them homefield that year (they would go on to lose at Denver in the AFC championship), but they then won the next three AFC titles. Brady didn’t look as washed then though.

I saw that.  Speaking as someone who saw Jim Kelly's last game in Foxboro, I feel those happy go lucky days are OVER.

I read through a Patriots forum last night, and it reminds me a lot of Bills' fans toward the end of 1996 (although the length and success of that 'dynasty' was much smaller).

Lots of fans really want to cast Brady out, are questioning Belichick, and some even want Kraft jailed, and they just think it is easy for their team to just move on and carry the same success into perpetuity, just because.  We kind of ran Jim Kelly into retirement, his last home game was a wild card weekend loss to Jacksonville and people were clamoring to move on to the Todd Collins era.  They have not won a playoff game since.

Lots of Patriots fans are in for a rude awakening when they become a typical NFL team who has to scratch and claw to get into the playoffs, may miss the playoffs, may have very poor seasons, QB uncertainty, actual frustration, etc.  Some fans are in their 20s and know nothing but perpetual division championships and 1st round byes into AFC Championship Games where the season "really starts".

For this season, that loss is so bad.  They have not made a Super Bowl in this run without having a 1st round bye.  That is part of their formula.  Get a bye week and host a team who just played and they should beat.  Win that game, go into the AFCCG either at home or on the road and do a great job coaching, luck, Brady, Gronk, etc to get to the Superbowl with another week off and preparation.  They need that bye week now more than ever, they are older and banged up.
Tennessee is also a nightmare match-up for them at this time.   If they do win, it will take a big toll and they will have to travel to a rested KC or Baltimore for the Divisional Round.

I don't know if it is over.  I have a lot of faith in Belichick to recover and keep the Patriots very competitive... although he has drafted very poorly as of late, and there doesnt seem to be an answer after Brady as of yet.  Brady does look his age now.  He looks visibly frustrated on the field, and has divested himself of a few New England personal obligations.  He seems to want to get paid now with a few year commitment.   If Kraft forces it, I see belichick retiring and the whole thing will blow up.  If they let Brady go, who will be their QB?  I could also see Brady retiring if he doesnt think he could get it back physically (and doesnt want to risk hurting his legacy outside the Patriots' umbrella).

They are also aging and look a bit slow.  They will have a late 1st round pick, and burned their 2nd on Sanu.  Who knows if they will lose additional pick(s) over the videotaping thing.

Also it appears that the Bills and Dolphins are trending toward not being sleeping dead-beat franchises anymore, and the Jets arent too far off either if Darnold is any good.  Next season's schedule is a toughie as well.
