The National Football League

You take any NFL fan from the south and tell them they have to give up the SB for their college team to win the National Title and they would line up for that deal.CantKeepmedown said:
I would bet a huge a large portion of Falcons/Georgia Bulldog would willingly take that Falcons SB loss if you told them Georgia would win a National Championship next season. College football is like religion in the south.Ledbetterman10 said:
That's good to hear for your own sanity. But the Crimson Tide is, as the great Bobby "The Brain" Heenan would say, Amateur Punk Stuff. No college championship can compare to the Super Bowl (to me, it's like comparing a triple-A baseball crown to the World Series). You guys had the SUPER BOWL won. Again, I'm happy to hear you're not out on a ledge like some of your friends might be. But if my team (the long-suffering Miami Dolphins) took that exact same loss in the Super Bowl, I'd be like "Move over, I need some room on this ledge too!"lolobugg said:
thanks, if this would've happened 4 years ago then I would've been destroyed. since then I have learned to separate my fandom to some degree. I am also a Crimson Tide fan so after the "KICK 6" game, nothing can ever compare to that feeling. I do have a few Falcons fan friends who I am worried about though.Ledbetterman10 said:
While I have no sympathy for Dan Quinn, Arthur Blank, or any member of the Atlanta Falcons, my heart fucking breaks for you fans. That is as bad a loss as there ever has been in sports. Up 25 points with like 20 minutes to play. Unbelievable. I don't know how the Falcons will be able to live with themselves. They'll never again play as well as they did in the first 35 minutes of that Super Bowl.lolobugg said:as a miserable Falcons fan..... I can only take solace in that we were beat by the Greatest of All Time. (coach and QB)
Well except for Scoot but he's challenged so we let it slide. Also technically not from the south.Anything you lose from being honest
You never really had to begin with.

I gotta say out of all theIr Super Bowl victories, this one was definitely the sweetest!
There's a whole lot of other guys who were great regular season quarterbacks, won a couple championships, could put up stats...but there's only one Tom Brady. He's in a class of his own now.
The scary thing is that he's still got a lot of football left in him. He'll never lose that drive to be the best which has always separated him from everybody else. His drive is what has made the others look pedestrian for so long.

Red and Bill's accomplishments have been ignored here as well. 'Never' is only time relevant- it serves the now. A few decades will pass and their will be a hot shot quarterback and coach racking up super bowl wins... and people of that era will dismiss Brady and the Pats- citing, among other things, different time different era.JK_Livin said:Boy, never is a strong word.

I've experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows. 2003 Game 7 of the ALCS and being at game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. And being a broncos fan during Elway's first three Super Bowls. No sore winner at all. Did they stream for the exits? Stick around for the celebration? Break shit? Stunned silence? I wasn't in the stadium and the tv broadcast focused on the celebration. The really great thing was goodell being booed of stage.Amongst the Ani said:

I grew up a New England fan during their long 2-12 season after season, couldn't even watch them on tv due to the blackout rule. Moved to Colorado in 82 and became a broncos fan when Elway started. Still rooted for the Pats, particularly their surprise run to the SB in 85 but then they got blown out and the broncos started competing. Moved back to New England in 88 and I rooted for both teams. Went to Sullivan stadium and saw elway's broncos beat the pats 9-6 after having seen a shoot out at mile high prior to moving back. If it's Pats/broncos, I'm a pats fan first. Broncos any other time. I know most people have an NFC/AFC favorite but I have both in the AFC. Also, I was born in Aspen and I remember the Broncos and the Orange Crush as a 12 year old. So when I moved to Colorado, as a returning native, rooting for the broncos seemed okay. Being in Colorado for the 85 pats loss and 86 sox loss hurt just as bad as what falcons fans are feeling now, I imagine. And I saw Springsteen at mile high, the dead at red rocks and U2 at McNichols during those years so it wasn't all bad. And I skied my ass off.The Juggler said:
