Marcus, it's a shame you swallowed everything the NFL fed you in determining that Tom Brady's not worthy of your respect. What would Si Newhouse think?

Of course, as previously stated, your opinion is yours and you will share it for as long as you are paid to do so.

Alas, nothing changes the fact that Brady's accomplishments are truly singular.

In fact, you acknowledge as much, no? Why else would you dedicate at least 4 columns to Brady and the Pats over the past 7+ months (today, July 28, May 7, Feb. 1.)

Your obsession makes me wonder - what is it about Tom Brady and the Patriots that fascinates you to the point where you spill buckets of ink in sharing your thoughts about them? Aren't the Iggles interesting enough?

Here's a thought. Why don't you interview Jeff Lurier about his take on the Brady/Pats saga? That way you can keep sharing your undeniably uninformed opinion about the Pats and Brady in the context of something that matters to your readers. Given that Lurier and Kraft have a relationship that extends back over decades, you'd break some news as well.

i'm not sure i would take so much time and effort or number of paragraphs to defend a family member. fact is Brady is a cheater in life (ask Michelle Monaghan) and cheater in football. awesome QB, and arguably the greatest of all time, let still has to cheat. hard to have much respect for him anymore.

All those stats will always be called into question, thanks to the patriots' shady history of cheating. If they don't like it they shouldn't cheat. Pretty easy.

If brady 'wins' based on procedural crossing t's and dotting lower case j's it doesn't matter. The average person with half a brain sees it's fairly obvious and the nfl had no motivation to attack new england and brady. It's silly

This thing could have been handled by brady and kraft a lot better and easier and it would be ancient history by now. Instead they need to be arrogant.

Also how well the team does without him? They did well when he was out for the season with an injury.

Lots of hype here in Australia about Jarryd Hayne and how impressive pre season has been for the 49rs and how he has been the talk of the league. Has the average Football fan in America heard much about him and if you've seen his first couple of games what do you think. Cheers

He has been pretty good but it is hard to judge for real since most of his time is against scrubs that wont be on the field come the regular season. That said, they should give him some looks in the 3rd preseason game...which works as a dress rehearsal. Working against him is depth at RB for the Niners. I hope they find a way to keep him, seems like an exciting player so far.
Lots of teams need RB/Special Teams warriors so even if he gets cut I bet he signs somewhere at least for Practice Squad and continues to learn.

The love he receives is the love that is saved

They won't try to add him to a practice squad. He would get scooped up. I think he makes it as the 4th RB and special teams guy. I don't know he can make it long term as a RB but as a returner I think he could be great. I would much rather have him return kicks than a washed up Reggie Bush.

If brady 'wins' based on procedural crossing t's and dotting lower case j's it doesn't matter. The average person with half a brain sees it's fairly obvious and the nfl had no motivation to attack new england and brady. It's silly

Juggler makes an absolute valid point. I'm not a Patriots fan and I agree whole-heartedly. This story is still completely ridiculous and the fact that they've dragged it along for 7 months makes it even more so. I mean honestly, if it wasn't 4-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady, would anyone care as much? Answer to that is no. If it was Wilson, Manning, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, Alex Smith, or anyone else... nobody would be so vehemently against them as they are with Brady. Again, how this became a 7-month saga and the Cris Carter thing just gets swept under the rug like it's no big deal is just simply shocking! Air pressure in footballs being slightly under vs. a guy telling draftees how to break the law and get away with it. Come on, now! Roger Goodell is a fucking joke. He abuses his "power" whatever that is, he is inconsistent in his penalties, and makes stupid non-stories into stories to keep the real issues hidden away. He is a fucking joke and his entire league is a fucking joke. End of story.

it's only dragged on for 7 months because Brady won't let it go and accept his punishment. the Pats and Brady could have ended it back in February but their arrogance won't let that happen.

haha, I don't really give a shit. Juggler was just all up on the Pats nuts last year, so I was just busting his balls.

    That said, fuck Brady.

I'd fight it too. The penalties given out are ridiculous and way over the top. Ray Rice (initially) got 2 games for KO'ing his fiancee. Use that for a benchmark and Brady should only be suspended for one 4th down play.

I wonder if RG3 would have stood a chance if drafted by a team like Jacksonville?

Probably not. He's not a good qb. He was over hyped and Washington fell for it. The read option was a gimmick play that lasted one year in the nfl. Just like the wildcat. When NFL defenses figure it out, it's over. So when the league said it was ok to hit the qb even if they handed the ball off, the read option was dead in the nfl.

the injury killed him and then he came back too soon the next year. he's never been the same since and now it has just gone totally sour in Washington. i wouldn't say it was all scheme. he has(had) some skills.

Hmmm. Probably right about it being a gimmick. The Colts avoided making two very bad picks (although I think Manning and Luck were no-brainers and the debate was just media hype on RG3 and what's his name)

Yep...it was good for a year then every team figured out that you just need to keep him in the pocket. Keep him in the pocket and he's just not that good. The Redskins are a mess.

If I'm RG3, I'm doing this move at the very next practice to collect $16M next year ...
