Who did it? I saw McCoy go down like somebody had shot him in the kneecap, rolling around and stuff. Then he got up and walked off then came back later. I thought he was definitely putting on a big show, but I didn't hear anybody mention it on the broadcast. Later on I missed something about a possible faked injury by a Chief and just sort of heard them talking about in the background. They didn't seem to think it was faked though.

For the 3rd consecutive week the Chiefs have screwed me. How are they this good? Was Romeo really that bad of a coach or did upper management command him to go into tankopalooza last year?
I need to adjust my gambling logic on the Eagles. I just watched the 1st half of the first game ... apparantly they don't play that way all the time ... :(

The Chiefs players. At least 2 players were standing after the Eagles got a 1st down. Then they just dropped from a standing position without contact. They're were a couple legit injuries but 2-3 that were obvious fakes.
Alright, alright, alright!

On one of them the commentators thought it was legit, they were saying he pulled up with a cramp. Don't know about the other ones though, or even that one, you can fake a cramp. I just sort of had the game on in the background and watched whenever things would get interesting.

Ryan braun's failed test and appeal was the end of modern civilization. What Von miller did is much worse and I get the feeling no one is going to give a shit

I think it's because we as a people like football players more than we like baseball players.

at least 2-3 of those chiefs players were blatantly faking. not touched during the play. after play ended, they just fell to the ground. after 30 seconds or so they walked back to the sidelines. missed a play then came right back. mccoy missed a bit of time. he was definitely nicked up.
this is going to happen more and more as these uptempo offenses spread throughout the league. not sure what can be done about this. maybe charge the team with an injury timeout or something?

What?
why do you always want to compare the 2 sports cliff? the von miller thing is just as bad or worse. i don't really know.
more people care about the integrity and sanctity of baseball records/stats than they do football related stuff. i guess that's why there's always a bigger outrage when this happens in baseball.

Because the double standard is such bullshit
well one's a more cerebral game and the other is defined by brute force. total opposites. i think it's obvious why there is a perceived double standard when it comes to this stuff.

People just like football more. We don't want to tear down football players as much as we want to tear down baseball players. And when I say "we" I mean the American media. It's more fun for them to vilify a Braun or A-Rod than it is a Von Miller or a Brian Cushing. It probably has something to do with records/stats like Juggler said.
Plus, baseball's the sport where most established media members made their names. The old school media members covering baseball also made their names during the time of the cold war (russia and east germans invented steroids so they were/are always considered a bad thing), they care about records that almost everyone can agree don't translate generationally, and think that integrity actually has something to do with professional sports. Football media members tend to be more new school and care more about the spectacle and preserving "the shield" by not offering real criticism and/or feigning outrage when things like this happen. Eventually, as the NFL begins to lose its foothold as America's favorite sport (could be 10 years could be 100 but it will happen), media members will start tearing down the league more incisively than they do now. People will look back and shake their heads that Von Miller is allowed to play, or they will shake their heads that people of our generation actually pretended to care about steroids when it's pretty obvious that layers in all sports are on performance enhancers.

Football players who been implicated in steroid use have tended to be more sympathetic as well. And usually came out on their own, where baseball players have been busted and forced to go to court, where they continued to BS. The big face of steroids in the NFL, the person most associated with it historically, is Lyle Alzado. Who made his confession while dying from an inoperable brain tumor he attributed to steroids. Hard to hate that. Meanwhile the face of steroids of baseball are guys like Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa. People who are dragged into court, lied, refuse to cooperate, pretended to not speak English, etc. I think that's one of the reasons baseball players are more vilified for steroids than football. Then of course you have the other reason mentioned, how baseball is so much about personal stats and records. Baseball is ALL about the numbers, football is all about W/L. NFL records, try as the commentators might to get us interested, are generally met with a "whoopty-doo", it's kind of neat, but no big deal. I couldn't tell you hardly any NFL record holder the same way I could give you for MLB or NHL.

and it doesn't help baseball that the players associated with steriods were/are considered the best players of their generation/all time. vonn miller's a beast, but he wasn't the mvp of the league.
That's why I said "he attributed to steroids" instead of saying steroids caused it. But the point was, when he came out he was dying, and dying of something he said was caused by steroids, so he didn't receive much backlash. He was treated as a tragic figure.
I'm not sure what Aldon Smith wrecking his car under the influence has to do with steroids. I never said people were more sympathetic towards football players regardless of what they do (though some can commit murder), I was just talking about the "double standard" that was being discussed about football players and baseball players with steroids. Of course I'm not very sympathetic for the guy who got pilled and liquored up then wrecked his car, that's nothing to do with what I was talking about though.
"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"
I remember Alzado being treated as a tragic figure and just never understanding it...other rumors had it that it was no brain tumor at all but rather he had HIV. Whatever that means.
Also I think I combined two posts leddbetter said be liked football players better and you said whatever I quoted of yours. Sorry. Point being, I would guess 95-99% of 49er fans everywhere are screaming and yelling for Aldon Smith to sack Andrew Luck as I type this. Same for Texans fans and Brian Cushing. Next year when Ryan Braun steps foot in the batters box Brewer fans will be mixed in their response to him. That's weird to me...and it's gotta be more complex than some of the stuff we've already talked about.

That can probably be said about any city or any sport. Bonds was treated like a hero in SF even when the rest of the country hated him, Canucks fans didn't have a problem with Bertuzzi coming back after he almost killed a guy, and Rangers fans will cheer for Nelson Cruz when he gets back from his suspension, doubtful they'll bring out the giant syringes like they did when Bonds would come to town. Regardless of how sports fans in general hold athletes accountable and to what degree, hometown fans don't always do so. Usually if they do, it's because they already wanted that person out of town anyway. I don't know how they'll react to Ryan Braun, but if he plays well I bet they forget.

Anybody notice that after an 0-3 start "RG3" is just "Griffin" to the media now?
That's the way it always should have been. What did RG1 and RG2 ever do to warrant him billing himself as RG3? Same with Ted Ginn Sr. and Mel Kiper Sr.

I know. I couldn't be happier. Let's just say game-winning drives that cover the length of the field were NOT Chad Henne's specialty. I couldn't have been more impressed with Tannehill down the stretch today.
