London is a pipe dream by Roger Goodell. That team would be at such a disadvantage it wouldn't be funny. They would have to overpay has-been free agents to come play for them. And London is a very expensive city to live in.

Toronto and L.A. seem like the obvious spots for expansion. The Norfolk, Virginia area may be the only other spot that could support an NFL team in NA. I think Vancouver is too stoned to have the attention span to watch live NFL games.

THe whole London thing is such a load of shit. Every time Goodell talks about it, I want to puke. Like you said, that team would be at a giant disadvantage with all the travel. It's ridiculous that they are even having regular season games in London.

Would anybody even be interested? I know the English in general don't give two shits about American Football, but is there even a niche market or enough expatriates to make it work? One game a year might pull in some novelty attendance, but seasons? I don't know. NFL Europe didn't work, and it's worth pointing out that the first of the teams to fold was the London Monarchs.

The first London game I remember was Dallas playing there early 90's. I remember Aikman trying to keep a straight face answering some of the questions from the media, who were basically there for the novelty of it and knew nothing about football. He seemed especially amused when a reporter asked him if he was "the thrower".

On top of all the logistical and competitive nightmares this would create, there isn't even interest. Sure, maybe they sell out a game or 2 per year. But to support a team all year?? Highly doubt it. I just wish all this talk about go away. It's beyond ridiculous and just makes me hate Goodell more and more.

Imagine if the London team hosts a home playoff game or even host the Super Bowl. The London team will win a SB before my Eagles.

  • Sooooo, who is the best left tackle in college this year? Taylor Lewan at UM? Hopes he likes playing in Pittsburgh next year. Been a long time since we had a top 5 pick.

After watching the Jaguars play 60 minutes of football yesterday, I can see no reason on why they would not sign Tim Tebow before noon today. It can't get any worse.

Who would you want as your QB if forced to choose ... Blain Gabbert or Tim Tebow?

Yeah it is getting as bad as the old MNF booth used to be.
We played a drinking game in college called 'Dickdorf' --- anytime Dan Dierdorf said something stupid (what we called a 'Dickdorf') you had to drink. There was a LOT of drinking going on.
Now it should be that you drink anytime Al & Chris say something that they think is clever and got by most of the audience. This could include the innuendos, the snarky comments about people/teams they dont like and of course the Al Michaels mainstay of gambling references. He is the only announcer who consistently can be counted on to point out spread busts, over/under hits or near misses and things like that.
On Super Bowl calls he nuts all over himself trying to work in the many different prop bets and pool totals.

I like Al & Chris, but they do find themselves very smart/amusing.
Wow, did I hate it when Dierdorf was calling MNF games. Worst announcer ever.

I agree. I cant stand Dierdorf.

I hate the whole macho football act (which is why I didnt care for Madden as well). Dierdorf is also a complete dumbass.

    Good Bills game yesterday

I would buy NFL Sunday Ticket if they offered an option to sync the local radio broadcast with the video. That's how I used to watch and listen to games before Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction.

I wonder if Browns upper management is happy or nervous? Two weeks ago they went into tankapalooza and had to be thinking Bridgewater or Clowney would be a lock. Now they are tied for the lead in the AFC North and the Colts pick seems to be climbing further back.

Go figure that the Browns would somehow find a way to screw up a tank job ...

You must work for ESPN. I can see many reasons. Mainly that he's no good and isn't a good fit. Replacing a shitty QB with another shitty QB isn't going to do anything, Tebow would just be a gimmick for attendance. Tebow needs protection to play his game (though his game has pretty much been figured out), like he had in Denver, and the Jaguars have none. They need to fix their O-line before they go replacing their quarterback. Bringing in Tebow just means a more recognizable name is going to get his ass kicked.

    Classic picture.
I was one of the fools who picked MJD to have a bounce-back year as their only option. They really have no options with that O-line.

I do tend to talk out of my ass alot. Maybe there is a future for me at EPSN. At the very least, I could take a leak in the NFL Sunday crew's coffee pot and set Skip Bayless' car on fire.

    Tebow's record: 9 - 7 Gabberts record: 5-21

They are averaging 7 points a game and have not scored a 1st half TD in 1,573 quarters.

I would estimate that 20% of the Jaguar's stadiums seats were covered in sponsered tarps. And I bet they still had a local black-out.

The O-line isn't getting fixed this year. Throw the fans a bone and release The Tebow!

I think they'd be better serving the fans by trying to seriously rebuild that team from the ground up, instead of inviting the Tebow circus to town. Face it, the guy BLOWS. If he had any promise what-so-ever a team would have picked him up by now just for jersey revenue. Jerry would have him backing up Romo just for the media attention and because he's drawn to famous names like a moth to flame. But he won't even go there. Tebow's just a pointless person to have on your roster. He had a lucky run with a good team, defense and kickers won most of those games. As Jesus said on SNL, "Matt Prater, I pray to you brother". He did contribute some, he confused some defenses, but a good QB could have taken that team places Tebow couldn't. You can't put it all on your defense and kicker. Against KC the defense held them to 7 points, but Tebow couldn't even get them a single score. They only got a field goal and lost 7-3 to the Chiefs, when they were still shitty. The defenses of the teams they did beat couldn't really figure him out at first, until Denver got to New England and they put on the "How to shut down Tebow clinic". And Rex wouldn't even put him in over Butt Fumble McGee, that should tell you how bad he is.

Just because it's fun to watch.

There is an up and coming GM there looking to build a team and make a name for himself. Putting any eggs in the Tebow basket isnt something he wants to do and he doesnt see that helping his franchise in any way.

Granted, I know it "cant get worse" than it is now... The main con I see is backlash once they release Tebow after the season.

They are going to draft Bridgewater.

Saw a bit of Jason Garrett's post-game press conference on the news. He looked like his head was about to explode.

Jason's in a no win situation in Dallas ... I have warmed up to Jason, unfortunately he's the only head coach with no real power, lets face it Jerry hired Callahan to run the O and he hired Kiffen to run the D ... these 2 probably answer to Jerry and probably aren't all that concerned with what Jason has to say ... IMO. My guess is that Jason will not be back next year and Lovie Smith might be the next head, just a guess.

I'm thinking Manning will toss for 500 hundred yards against Claiborn alone :o.

I don't know. I don't think Lovie is the type to sign-up to be Jerry's puppet.

i doubt he cares about that ... money talks and the chance to coach a team that spends money can be enticing ... also he's from Texas. If he were to end up in Dallas it's not like that landed the biggest fish in the sea, he did well in Chicago but still didn't win a SB there. Personally I'd like to see them stick with Jason and get rid of Callahan ... this O has no imagination ... Callahan was suppose to fix the O line and it's still not very good, Kiffin got the same problem that Ryan had, doesn't adjust well during the game ... against SD they were not able to get much pressure rushing 4 guys but he was still only bringing 4 guys in the 4th quarter ... the Cowboys suck and 8-8 will probably win the division, heck maybe 7-9 will.

I can see that happening ... the one thing that hasn't changed since their last championship is jerry ... so i'm pretty sure he knows he's the problem, as far as winning on the football field goes ... but as far as winning financially there should be no doubt he's pretty good at that, so until the stadium is half empty on game days nothing will change and if they win a championship it'll be in spite of jerry, not because of jerry.

Yes Dallas spends money, but it' Jerry spending it, and it's not being spent wisely. Dallas is one of the most prestigious teams in the league (not because of any recent success), but it's one of the least prestigious coaching positions, on account of Jerry. As coach of the Cowboys your hands are completely tied, you basically have to do the best you can with what Jerry provides. There's too much interference from Jerry for any coach to do what they want. So you're hands are tied but you're still taking flak from the fans. It's a good place for up-and-comers like Garrett to get their foot in the door, but it's probably hard to lure established coaches these days. They might just take the big pay check, but they'd just be in it for the money. Parcells was lured to Dallas by money and promises of Jerry staying out of his business, the latter promise never being kept of course. He forced T.O. and many others on him.

I don't know if Garrett should stay. He seems like a nice guy, and a smart guy, but sometimes he seems a little overwhelmed. And since being stripped of playcalling he seems a little pissed. But aside from a few moments where he was a little in over his head, I think he's done about as good as anybody in the situation could do. He might be too nice though. I think the Cowboys need a coach who is going to kick them in the ass, a hard-ass disciplinarian to come in and shake up the country club culture that is the Cowboys. And for Jerry to let him do it and not come along and pat the players on the ass and coddle the players while he tries to do so. Jerry's personal attachment and covering for his pet players has undermined several coaches.

  • It's hard to believe that the redskins could be in 1st place in the NFC East 2 weeks from now.

Dallas has Denver next week and will probably lose, which will make them 2-3. Washington is on a bye week, then they play the Cowboys. If they win, they're tied for first after starting 0-3. Unreal.
