Danny Carey from Paiste Magazine 2012-13: "...Justin, Adam & I are working on some stuff and Maynard will join us in another month or so, once he finishes up with his 'other band'. We'd like to get into the studio by May or June and hopefully get our new record done by the fall...we'll see how things go. Right now, we're throwing riffs around and seeing what feels good. So far, it's turning out to be a bit more on the heavier side... Adam is really rockin' out, so it's exciting."0

Tool were incredible Saturday night, by far the best band at the Festival. My only complaint is the short setlist, the Flaming Lips got a longer set time and they weren't even a headliner. Here's the setlist, nothing new or rare-
Hooker With a Penis
Jambi
(-) Ions
Stinkfist
Pushit
Schism
Forty-Six and 2
Lateralus
Parabola
Ænema
Went Sunday as well, got back a few hours ago, enjoyed Puscifer a lot and thought they were my fave for the day, Flaming Lips were ok but wasted a lot of time dicking around on stage. Dave Matthews was what I expected, I stuck around for 2 hours of them and then left early to avoid the rush for the O'Gara's shuttle.0 -

Hooker With a Penis and Pushit - nice!
The rest - typical of the sets from the last 6 years
Boy, do they need some new material!!0 -

I have no complaints. Tool has only been playing 10-11 songs during shows for quite a while now. This was a normal set and it was awesome.
Oh yeah, Puscifer was awesome too... I even got a bag of peanuts0 -

I agree, but that'll only mean different great tunes being cut. I love the core tunes and I don't think Tool should play a show w/o Lateralus or Aenima, but I do wish they'd try to cover more of their catalog. I think the length of the average Tool song and the way some of them are constructed with 1 "song" actually being 2 or 3 pieced togther is something that holds them back.0 -

Yes!!! YES!!! YYYYYEEEEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably my favorite tune from 10k Days. Great build throughout the whole song and all the members are doing really cool, pretty unique to Tool stuff.
Can't tell you how many Danny Carey parts I've had to really get down in my head in my pursuit of learning their tunes on guitar, and even without being the one that's charged with playing that stuff it can spin your head just working with it.
I dunno how many have paid attention to past posts but I've always had something driving me to learn about every Tool song and got some friends on board for something a bit more formal. Had some real revelations with it lately. They have quite a few simple tunes, but once Tool really starts to do what makes them Tool, they get to be a real chore when everybody isn't dead on. And even when they are, the way the instruments cross over and weave in and out makes it impossible to keep count. So often, the best way to tell that I'm nailing my part, is b/c it feels wrong.0 -

It's hard as shit to play, I can play a few songs on bass. I think the easiest one to play for me has been Lateralus
Oh and Opiate too0 -
