One thing strange was that Eddie thought he was being booed. I sounded like "hoo hoo hoo..." to me. Didn't seem to effect him later though.

I think it's the best gig I've been to.

He was joking about people cheering for BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

  • em... I believe Eddie was joking with the "boo.." comment.. It was obvious people were shouting "BOOooooom" (for Boom Gasper on the organ)

    How was "EDUCATION"?

for me it was a massive highlight, its one of my favourite songs off lost dogs.

but i gotta say when ed said that they were going to do a b-side i was thinking that it was gonna be off the new record.

BUT WHO FUCKING CARES I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO SEE 2 SONGS LIVE!!!!!!!

I've wondered how Inside Job would work as an opener. I kinda think it might be too powerful to open with and is better suited for a set closer. but i'm probably over analyzing things. that song is INCREDIBLE live, and that's all that matters.

The opened with it in Vegas as well, and I will say that it was an amazing opener. It really sets the tone for a greta night imho. I really thought it worked!

  • I don't think I can put into words how incredible this gig was. After meeting Jeff and Mike yesterday, I didn't think I could get much happier...

Try Mike recognising me (3rd row from front pretty much right in front of him) and making eye contact with me and gesturing to me throughout the ENTIRE gig! I got one of Mike's plecs (thanks to a very nice girl named Ruth - a true PJ fanatic) and he seemed to like my sign: "McCready - 1/2 man, 1/2 guitar solo."

Overall, an absolutely superlative-defying show - Inside Job as opener, Daughter/It's Okay, Education, and a show-stopping performance of Black (you know what I'm talkin about TotalEdHead:D)...

I need to gather my thoughts. Thanks to Pam, Ciara, KIRK!!! and Ruth for making it a very special pit, and EXTRA thanks to Mike for making my first PJ show an experience to remember for the rest of my life...
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

The crowd was orgasmic and the opener was a surprise to be honest but it sounded much better live than on cd which is sayin something. The Boys are back in town was a nice touch.Shame about Paddy Casey though!Ah well, what a night!
What about Paddy Casey??? Please clue me in... thanks!

And sounds like a fantastic show!! Whoo-hoo, I got chills. More fanviews, please :)

It sounds like the show was wonderful for all of you. We, in the states, have more chances to see them; therefore, some of us, get spoiled. Glad to see you had a great time and are still buzzing from the show. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
I am sure once the boot is released all the spoiled fuckers will be like, "man, that was wasnt that impressive." But dont mind them...:)

I got a plec off Ed, he pointed at me and told security to make sure I got it! :D:D:D

And then I found Jeffs plec on the ground, got a smile from Stone and a good few points and devil horns from Mike... what a nice band they are!!!

Paddy Casey knew that nobody wanted to see him... but he had a sense of humour about it, and he actually wasn't that bad!

  • Nice. It was great in Vegas, they should open with it a little more instead of Severed Hand so much.

I agree. "Severed Hand" shouldn't be played until the crowd is in full attendance and thoroughly warmed up. When they've done it that way there's more "YEAHS!!!!!!!!!" emanating from the audience.

Eduction IS a mediocre song, but not to take anything away from being the first show to ever get it. Very very cool. Now that its been played though, its not one of the top songs that I NEED to hear or anything.

Wow. Went to the gig last night. I was in the pit with 6 friends, we had an unbelievable time. This crowd was WAY louder than in 2000. I loved how we all knew what to do on certain songs without being shown how by Eddie, (i.e. people singing 'it's ok' before he started it, the 'Yeah!'-with-a-fist-in-the-air during the outro of Alive, etc.

My voice was gone afterwards, what a night.

My head is still reeling from this. What a show. From Inside Job to Fuckin Up and everything in between it was absolutely flawless.Highlights for me were Indifference, Inside Job & DTE.Just class!!We were in the balcony in block D.Cheers to the people behind us for letting us stand up and dance.Couldnt sit through a Pearl Jam show like i was at the cinema like so many others up there.I think us and the folks behind us were the only ones dancing in our section.Everyone to their own i suppose!!!!

Not particularly. The point only had one queue which was dumb. We had to push our way through everyone to get to the 10c line. The Point people are always thick though. It was to be expected.

Fucking amazing show. I couldn't believe it when they did education. It's one of my favourites from Lost Dogs.
Whole show was just....words cannot describe it :)
It's Ok, Boys are back, Insise Job, Indifferrence...... I can't beleive I witnessed it.

I got there around 3:30, as that was when the 10c window was supposed to open. I hooked up with a couple of other clubbers and we managed to push our way through. It took about half an hour. The queue began to fill up pretty soon after that so it could have been a lot worse.

And once you got in you were right at the front hey! Lucky thing!!

Got a feeling its gonna be harder at Reading but im Ten clubbing for Marseilles and Barca! Pissed I missed out on Dublin tho - sounds like u guys had a blast!
  • Truly a great show. More than made up for the wait. Highs for me were Given To Fly, Leash, Animal, Better Man, Black, Indifference, Daughter.

When RVM started, I got all excited, but personally I didn't get a vibe from it till the jam bit toward the end. Still loved it.

Great to see a Matt solo. GREAT sound from his kick & toms!

Paddy Casey? He's lucky he has a sense of humuor - IMO, that's all he has. When he talks, he sounds like Daft Dave from the Right Price Tiles ads on the radio. "And I want a monkey! In a red jacket!" Yeah, okay Daft Paddy.... He has some very good songs, but I personally don't like his voice.

I wasn't overly impressed with Education, but there are songs I love that other mates don't get.

To really blow me away, I'd love to have seen them do History Never Repeats (Neil Finn's 7 Worlds Collide DVD) & The Who's I'm One. Ed REALLY makes every song his own.

Had a brief chat with a couple of English guys before PJ came on about the empty seat spaces in the balconies - after all the shit about tickets when the went on sale, there still seemed to be empty seats. Till it kicked off... Packed!

Loved watching the crowd surfers & stander-up-on-shoulderers. Great fun.

Guys I work with don't get rock. They think if someone falls down at a rock gig, they'll either get trampled on or deliberately kicked to bits. Not so, eh? If you fall, the crowd will open up and help you back on your feet and get rockin again. Just like when it happened to my then girlfriend/now wife at a Megadeth gig many years ago. Yay rock fans!

Fantastic gig. They are still a truly great band.

I was so soaked with sweat, I had to wear my sister's size 'M' Strokes t-shirt driving home. The shame... And my neck hurts from trying to look over the heads & shoulders of the seemingly blurgeoning population of 6'2"+ Irish males and my calves ache from jumping.

Can't wait for Saturday night for my band's gig - we play Alive and I'm going to enjoy it so much!

To Pearl Jam: THANK YOU! You keep making this 38 year-old mortgage & 3 (wonderful) kids man feel more like a responsibility-less 24 year-old. THANK YOU. Like he said on Jool's show - the music keeps us feeling young.

Some GREAT pics posted guys - thanks!

Well I'm starting to collect my thoughts now. It was an amazing show as everyone has said. I've seen PJ 3 times before and this was definitely the best. The band seemed really up for it and the crowd were superb. In the pit there was a great atmosphere among the fans....everyone getting on and just enjoying the night (not like in 2000 with fucking moaning yanks giving out about not having a personal parameter around them....its a fucking gig, you're at the front what the fuck toy you expect  ).

The whole day was amazing...meeting up in the Temple Bar for a few scoops and making our way over to the gig......a big THANKS to those I spent the day with you were a great laugh and I hope you enjoyed it as much as me.

Paddy Casey...not the right place for him. I got the impression that it was a last minute thing getting him in.

I said to my bro during the week that if the started with Inside Job I might just cry.....well I managed to fight back the tears to just be immersed in that song....still the stand out on Avocado for me and after last night it hasn't diminished.

WWS and Severed Hand were excellent...well placed in the set to get the crowd jumpin.

Animal and DTE were 2 of the stand outs for me. The last just ripped the place up. Eddie's vocals were/are probably better than ever!

GTF, Corduroy, gone and Marker were great (marker is really growing on me the more I hear it live).

Daughter and Betterman.....well done fans....made these songs take flight and soar above the Dublin skies.

Why Go.......fucking classic....no more to be said :D

Education...my favourite tune of lost dogs and I'm one of the first people to hear it live....Thanks Pearl Jam.

Never though I'd say this but Even Flow = Matt Cameron....he fucking nailed the drum solo...for me (and I hate to admit this but) he outshone Mike's solo (drops to avoid bullets from Mike fans). Mike is my favourite guitarist and his Even Flow solos leave me speechless every time and I have never been to pushed on Matts solos but last night I got it ;)
    Still my favourite PJ tune

Life Wasted and RVM...Eddie was superb.

Was delighted and amazed when they played Indifference....fucking love this tune....got a clip on my camera...will try and upload it later,

Black followed and again I was nearly in tears....just beautiful.

Crazy Mary and Alive were great at pushing the crowd onwards and upwards.

The Boys Are Back in Town.....fucking class...didn't matter that they fucked it up, made it even more special. The whole band laughed and you could see how much they were enjoying the night.

    Leash....what a privilage to hear live...loved it.

    Fuckin Up....Amazing closer...

All in all, up there as one of the most special days/nights of my life. Thanks you to Pearl Jam and to all of you.....Keep on Rocking in the Free World.

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Thank you for this Phaedrus; when i read the comments here seems that most of the people just enjoy to collect rare songs at the gigs. You showed instead to enjoy crowd surfing, like in a real rock concert should be. Keep on rockin'!
