Just listened to the boot as well and was pleasantly surprised to hear Boom. Didn't hear a note he played that evening, but it's nice to hear he really was plugged in ;)

    :) same here.
as I wrote, I didn't get his sound during the concert at all,
but now, when listen to the boot I just wanna scream: boom boom boom.

really great tunes he adds to the songs. fantastic so to say :)

During the concert my friend turns to me and said: "This is one of the best shows I’ve seen!"
and we have seen lots, I mean lots of bands and shows!

I don't think you are my friend, but the same happend to me.

and yesterday were both commuting to work, by train, in different counties and he texted me to say he was listening to the boot and wiping a tear away from his eyes. Which I was doing at the same time too.

and p.s.2 poison, you picked my faves (so great and fabulous solos from matt and the guitar players)... I just would like to add save you and I got id.

Agreed - I Got Shit was amazing - love that song.

You should download the Toronto show (if you haven't already) to hear the plagiaristic origin of that song.

I wanna live with The Cinnamon Girl...

:) yeah, another smilie cause since Arnhem I guess I smile all the time.

yup, I have the Toronto show already and it is just a great perfection when you consider the cinnamon girl.

but nevertheless, this song means also something personal to me, so it was my blast of the concert to hear it live.
...well, but not only this song was overwhelming... the whole show was something special in perfection, I am convinced now...

and p.s. ellroy: check your pm, maybe I found an solution.

  • Hi everybody!

I'm a bi-continental woman, meaning I currently live and attend grad school in Seattle, but I also live part-time in the Netherlands with my schatje when I'm able to. When I'm done with my degree next year, I'll expat to Zuid-Holland, where I truly belong. The States suck.

Anyhoo, having lived in Seattle way back since dirt was invented, I've seen PJ perform more times than I have fingers and toes to count on. Even back when they were still a bar band. (I'm seriously dating myself here.) Lots and lots of shows. Always good, 'cause, hey, they're professional musicians and all that.

The show in Arnhem was absolutely the tightest, best performance I've ever seen them put together. Great musicianship, nice banter and interaction with the crowd, and the guys are all obviously happy to be where they are in Life. It was a joy for me to see and hear.

And, many thanks to the Dutch fans, who know the words to every song by heart, and who all enjoyed the Bush-bashing by Ed. It sure gave me the giggles!

    Ik hou van PJ.
  • I Scot ID wrote:
Haha, sorry i was naked but that was the gig that i put one of neils sock on my thingy then i threw it on stage!

And yes, i really f*cked my knee that time!
    That blows dude..

I thought I saw something else..
    a) this guy is hung with a childs arm
    b) he has something else there
    your light's reflected now
  • Hi Guys,

    First Post on Message Pit.

Been a fan of PJ since '92, have grown older and wiser with them. :) Helped me out when I've needed it.

Myself and a mate came over from England for the Arnhem concert. Have seen PJ live before and heard and seen lots of other shows on CD and DVD. But WOW!!!!! This show was just awesome and blew me away.

Was a bit worried after watching some of the Reading show on TV over here, and thought it wasn't that good. Seemed a bit underwhelmed.

But I can only think of one major problem throughout the whole evening. It had to end! :)

At first I am so proud that I was there in Arnhem's Gelredome. After TEN(!!!) fuckin' years of waiting finally I managed to see the best band on the planet again (Budapest show in 2000 was scheduled to Katowice (2nd show!!!!) dammit...what a setlist we could have had)...and oh my God, what a fantastic show Arnhem was!!!
"It was well worth the waiting..." that's what first came to my mind after the show.

I bought a pair of 10 club tickets to Arnhem (Antwerpen and Vienna as well:)) on strong purpose because I knew the Netherlands is an absolutely special country for the band plus Antwerp is quite close (the band themselves had never been to Belgium before). So both seemed perfect decision!!!

It was a wise choice...although we arrived relatively late at the venue we managed to get to the first row - in front of Stone (and Boom...he is a genius, too)!
Maybe you remember us: we were that crazy Hungarian couple who wanted that experience to be as perfect as it gets!!! And oh my God, we had an extraordinary and amazing time I will never ever be able to forget!

We had our Hungarian flag with a simple HUNGARY text fixed on the barrier...During Save You Mike pointed at and asked us by his gestures to show it to him 'cos he hardly could read the text from the other side of the stage...finally he smiled and show his thumbs up towards us during a complicated solo:) bloody hell, who's this guy to do such things, eh?:)
Eddie just stared at our flag and us a couple of times but his face turned into smile only ONCE in spite of the fact that we tried to catch his glimpse and provocated him every time we could:)...
Stone had his poker face, too...but at the beginning of the second encore he finally laughed at us and took a little bow what meant his own appreciation as we acted like totally enthiusiastic retarded persons for not less than 2,5 hours!!!
The biggest surprise was Jeff who absolutely didn't give a damn about our two-person-Hungarian community during the show but at the very end of Yellow Ledbetter he came and stopped in front of us, stared at me and said:
"sorry guys, not this time, maybe next year!!!" WOW, it felt like a cold shower for the both of us after a brilliant set of songs...Plese please come and visit Budapest again!!!

reading other reviews saying "our show had the best setlist...bla-bla" who the hell cares? To tell the truth I wouldn't trade THAT setlist to any other because
1.it's Pearl Jam...enough said...there is no shitty songs in their catalogue, only strong and unforgettable ones so they could have played songs only from Binaural and Riot Act...we still would have been totally satisfied!!!
    2. these songs were what they played that certain night for 40,000 people including me and my girlfriend...and I honestly felt then that it's flawless...it got better and better (although many favourite of mine was played the other night as well!!!)

from the beginning till the end...what to say? RELEASE is my personal favourite song ever written by any fuckers since the birth of Earth IMHO you know?...and this alone was so uplifting my tears rolled down my face!!! Man, if you were not there or still have not heard it live 5 meters away from the Singer himself..you have to upgrade your to do list and set its priority to "the highest".

WHY GO??? No other song that would have been a better choice to let the show go on!!! The beauty of all my sexual pleasure got together and was concentrated in my mind I think after only 7-8 minutes!!!
    .
.lost my consciousness? got into a time trap till the end of the show? i'll never know but my delirium then is totally undescribable now!!! songs came by, we roared by instincts every time we got our songdrugs...:) Man, these guys really DO love Holland!!!!!!

    .

BUSHLEAGUER was the song that could just circulated in my head, Eddie's brilliant, smooth but funny performance was maybe the other highlight of the entire show...and the song sounded as worthy and precious like any other hit of theirs - believe me, it was outsatnding even musically, too!!!

ALIVE gave me 7minute goosebumps, chills everything ...it sounded so powerful like Alive(live) on the European edition Ten...the mood was like on its original muic video......this song alone had more power, kraft and intensity than Etna on fire!!!

KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD...what can I say??? I never really loved this song, it had been OK for me but nothing special...and it was the third biggest suprise: It was badass!!!! and kicked everyone's butt...Eddie was jumping off the stage right before us and was running around like a fool...We could not see what happened to Eddie and the crowd at the back (where he tried to make close friends I guess) for minutes but before he disappeared he stared at the eyes of each and and every person of the first row on our side...we were mesmerized, my girlfriend could not even say a word for minutes just stared at the ground for minutes:) Eddie is a God...that was her first sentence:)

Not want to be too sentimental but I must type these lines: the energy of the band and the power of their music was easy to sense in all type of meaning in that attractive stadium!!! No other band could match them on the level of albums IMHO but!!! performing is what they do best - no one can come close (not even U2!!!)!!!

ARNHEM was the concert of my life for an entire day...unbelievable but ANTWERP was even more frenetic if you ask me!!!

THANK YOU PEARL JAM, THANK YOU FAITHFUL HOLLAND!!!
    Peace and adore

  • That was pretty much everything I needed. I'm from Colombia, I went to Europe and had the chance to see them alive and it was beyond heaven. I just love them. Thank you Pearl Jam for "I Got Shit", for "Rockin' in the free world" and for everything else.

Eventhough I was pretty far from the stage, it was close enough to reach the stars!!! I was expecting to hear Red Mosquito, but still, it was the best thing ever
