I'm still shaking , what a great show !
Only thing i missed was Black , my all time favorite song , but the list made up for that , RVM was great , i loved the beginning with Release me , i loved the way he talked to the crowd , he stopped singing with a song , can't remember what song it was , but the crowd (and me lol )took over , that felt great , they really need to come back more often and not wait another 6 yrs, i couldn't sit either , although everyone around me was glued to the chairs to , except when Alive started , i danced the whole show , how can anybody sit with this kinda energy ! The world needs more Eddie's , what a beautiful person
the only thing i can say. you hit the spot dude, i danced and sing and now my voice is gone haha
I keep logging in here to read al the reactions,i can,t stop talking about it....only there's no one around to talk too(or no one that understands what i am talking about)....so i guess i will be "bothering"you guys some more today!!!Did anyone also felt personally touched when Ed did that trick with the reflection on his guitar....
I am really hoping they will putt last night's show out on a dvd.....?!
I can,t wait for the bootleg....just too experience the feeling again....and again...and again.

It was once again an awesome performance - but one thing mentioned earlier bugged me a bit. I was not up front, but behind the second barrier, about 20 metres away, in front of Mike.
Now get me right, I'm no bully and in 2000 I made my exit to go further back after like six songs because people were pushing so much.
But how come theses days people don't even dance or jump no more?
I did that all the time, but whenever some people right behind me started to pogue a little, the security guys started yelling at them. Nobody wants shit to happen, but security (who stil did a good job) yelling at fans - that's what creates bad blood!
C'mon, with the big barriers and Eddie telling us to take care of each other (which they/we did!), what's the big deal. It used to be A LOT more aggressive than last night.
So let'em dance!
The band is showing no sign of getting older, why must the crowd?
BOTTOM LINE: NO BAD BLOOD HERE, I LOVED IT AND HOPE YOU HAD JUST AS MUCH FUN AS I DID!

Ive to say ive been waiting to see pearl jam live for ten years, since i was 15. Last night was awesome!
I was in the front row at the stadium seats, and rather far away, but it was better than being in the middle of the field, im only 1.55, i know i wouldnt have been able to see anything!
Lucky the people in the front which were able to touch eddie!

Well, after 6 years PJ finally made it back to Holland. And it was worth waiting: they played an incredible show. We saw a band in great spirits and they seem to have great fun. It was a special and memorable night indeed! They played at the Gelredome in Arnhem. A nice venue with great acoustics. With 32.000 tickets to sell this seemed to be a sold-out show. Wolvemother was an ass-kicking support.
The audiance was outstanding. Defeaning cheers during the encorebreaks too! Lots of clapping and singing as well. It looked like everything was in the right place tonight.
Eddie reminded us that it was years ago they played Holland and he appriciates we came out that many to see them play. He also excused himself for speaking only English, although he managed to say something in Dutch at the end like 'thanks very much'.
They opened the show with 'Release' followed by 'Why go' and 'Save you'. De first part of the setlist totally rocked! No slow songs. Here are some highlights:
Rocking in a free world: The place went mad! Eddie jumped into the crowded. Total madness!
Alive: Great crowd response
Leash: Great to hear that song live. Although not everyone seem to know the song.
Even flow: Mike did a great solo, Matt also did an awesome drumsolo as well.
Better man: Great sing along. Before the song Eddie played a snipped of 'No women no cry'.
Well, I've seen many many concerts in my life so it takes a lot to impress me. But I was totally thrilled by this one. 100% pure rock, this is what I like!

**wanted to post this story last night but was having login problems**
First of all: Man! i felt so lucky. Thank you so much PJ! The greatest band in the world is finally visiting europe again after that black day in R. Thank you PJ for finding the courage and strength to move on and not forgetting the rest of us here in europe who were yearning for you guys to return.
around 40.000 people in gelredome arnhem last night and i got to be one of the lucky few standing 5 meters from Ed&Co. The show started very typical dutch. exactly 19:30 lights were off and wolfmother started rocking the stage. great performance, especially from the keyboard/bass (Chris Ross, i believe?). and later, again on time, exactly 20:45, PJ mesmerized the crowd with Release. I have to say, PJ still got the jam after all these years absent from europe. The stage is still polite and typical PJ. black, no fancy stuff, just enough lights. Mike's rig is surprisingly neat though. usually his rig is the most crazy one, with vintage combo-amps from all sizes known to man stacked up in a pile of chaos. But he still run around and play with the crowd. tossing Sir-Mike-pick every few minutes. Nice to know that Mike is all well. Stone had constant disagreements with his guitars, i don't know what/why exactly, but his assistant was always standing there every now and then tweaking some stuffs, replacing the guitar, etc. Sound was nice the whole time though, i didn't notice anything unusual, although he did manage to break a string right after Spin the Black Circle ended, pheww. Matt and Jeff concentrated on the music almost the whole show. Jeff didn't do backup vocal as much as Matt though, too busy jumping around. Boom stayed the whole time behind Stone's rig. Too bad he didn't had the chance to show off a lick or two.
after Save You, Ed was very attentive and took the time to remind the crowd to play nice with each other ("take care of your neighbours" were his words actually) --especially for those at the rear side of the arena, he added.
I got to stand at Stone's side of the stage, the crowd there were somewhat calm & mild (indeed, maybe suited more for Stone's personality, although after Do The Evolution, there's not much of a difference anymore between Stone's/Mike's side). the crowd at Mike's side were clearly more wild from the beginning till end, jumping around and stuffs. A couple of my buddies were at Ed's side, and there the people are more of those "2-hours-long-hands-in-the-air" types.
Ed slipped this warm, relaxing, guitar+vocal only No Woman No Cry chorus as an intro for Better Man. Simple gesture but brilliantly done. and of course, once it hit off, all the girls were dancing around wildly. Always fun to see Ed still got the charisma to bring out the mood.
I think PJ's always have this need to feel alittle nostalgic when it's Holland they play in. So many songs from Ten & VS so early in the tour? Couldn't be more perfect. There's even Lukin! Ed told this little story about dedicating Lukin to a girl from Utrecht (i think Manon is the name?, married one of Mudhoney's members?).
Man Of The Hour was very majestic. Perfect for opening the 1st encore. Porch's intro was totally different from the original. I thought at first Ed was trying to remember how he should play it exactly (fast, agressive riffs) but after a few strums ending up sounding totally different from what he had in mind, he settled with that more 'simple-to-the-point' version and let his voice do the crowd-burning.
Bushleaguer was once again Ed's playground. He entered the stage with shiny-glittery-silver jacket and 'Bush's rubbermask, and started dancing around. the rubbermask had a smiley-happy-face and it was a perfect irony slam for the song. He did try to explain a bit about his intentions with the act afterwards and compared his "evil" gestures with Bush's. I thought it was nice but unnecessary--the crowd were already backing Ed's perspective afterall.
Ed was happy with his wine bottle, seems to enjoyed it during the 2nd encore. His sigarette was loyally waiting for him at Boom's ashtray the whole time.
Alive was the peak moment for everybody. Nobody stayed still, nobody. Everybody was singing along screaming. After Alive the main stadium lights were turned back on, but PJ stayed and continued with Rockin' In The Free World (Ed switched to wireless mic and kindly went down and visited the crowd, me included! thanks, man!)
Again, perfect closing the evening with Yellow Ledbetter. Ed and Mike took the time to visit every corner of the stage and were smiling gratefully to everybody and were showing this face like they were so glad that everything went fine. I felt very honoured seeing Mike approached my crowd, stayed there for a while, and whispering 'thank you' numerous times.
No, i thank YOU, PJ. For a rocking evening. Be well and stay well, guys!
I have more then ones found myself staring at a picture of Eddie thinking that he looked so cool. Seeing him on stage had that same effect. He really has a presence about him. Man what a personality.
the eyes. it's all about the eyes. I was fifth row, in front of Mike, and was mesmerized by his presence. During Alive, at some point, I just stopped moving, dancing and just stood there, watching him. I've seen every great frontman in music today, I like and respect many bands, but there's nothing like Eddie, and Pearl Jam. Wolfmother were right. They're the best band in the world, period. This is something I will cherish for me forever, probably the second best night of my life (cos nothing will ever beat the birth of my son).
Also, what's rather funny, is that when I see the PJ setlist of the gig before, I sometimes say "yea, nice, but nothing really unusual". Yesterday setlist (at least before the encores) was nothing really special, but it completely changes when you're there.

it's not just his eyes , it's his whole being , his soul , i could feel it , without even looking .That's the reason why we all are so touched , his energy

Second time I saw the guys at work. And I can say, it was a blast. It was everything I expected it to be, times 10!!
Unfortunately I had a seated place but luckily everybody stood up after the first few songs. My seat was very close to the stage so I had a great view. I really enjoyed myself and I didn’t stop smiling since. Even my alarm clock couldn’t get that smile off this morning.
What more to say…It was worth the traffic jams before and after the show.
Hope to see them again real soon.
But what was the crowd like near the front? The upcoming Lisbon shows are my first ever big arena shows and i have 10c tickets, but i'm just worried about the crowd. Does it get really really rough and squashed up front?
"This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."
But what was the crowd like near the front? The upcoming Lisbon shows are my first ever big arena shows and i have 10c tickets, but i'm just worried about the crowd. Does it get really really rough and squashed up front?
no need to worry, in reality it's not as rough as you see on videos or dvds. in arnhem, the security was pretty tight and alert all the time, and the frontmost zone (nearest the stage) is actually a "closed" arena. more people can't get in anymore after a certain amount of crowd has been reached. after the barrier is closed, everybody inside got a special tag bracelet so that they may go outside later and come back in without trouble. there's enough room to move around inside the barrier, and there's always spare room at the back if you need to catch a breath or relax to the sound of PJ.
one thing though: you have to get in as early as you can. stand in line as early as you can. the barrier closes doors as soon as it reaches max capacity. once you're inside, it's heaven. have fun!
just came home (...and it was/ is a long drive to this small town)... but I wanna scream out my thanks to the best band ever on this planet.
(- as wolfmother said so fine... uhh they were a great surprise and lots of fun, too, but this one is sent out to thank)
thank you Pearl Jam, just thank you so much.
and of course I know too they don't read it, but wow... I needed to let this big one out somewhere.
maybe it is the Netherlands that just let spread such great vibes
...(with those coffee shops around and all those lovely, caring and healthy looking people everywhere)...
or they just greeted the European content in a magic manner,
dunno, but the atmosphere in the arena was not to describe in any ways.
and hey, some poeple danced... they just danced all way long
(standing in the way back of the center area, where the ugly people were )
the setlist couldn't have any better to me, after all that happened.
save you, I got id, solat, spin the black circle, PORCH (that was a bummer).
and I liked it so much that they chose very political songs in a row... like wws, insignificance (we all forgive your home town ) jeremy, evolution,
and bushluager
(I always wanted to see that one played life - and it is that great of a release... yelling at this mask ).
Leash was so great too ... and considering Eddies words about corporations and stupid politicians... I just screamed my lungs out: drop the leash, get out of my fuckin face
great statements, soooo much energy, an unbelievable audience, and
great organization of the whole event, (thanks great great netherlands !!! indeed the greatest country around )
only people are sometimes difficult: the bus transfer to town was crazy!
but well... I really seem a lucky one
the good vibes I took withme... keep on rockin (wow, what a solo, what a great version of keep on rocking in a free world - get the boot, its worth it)
happy
thanks again and later...
there is no way to peace, peace is the way!
...the world is come undone, I like to change it everyday but change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.

Be well and stay well, guys!
thanks man
surreal experience it was indeed
the eyes. it's all about the eyes.
That when all is lost there will be you,...
Cause to the universe I don't mean a thing
And there's just one word I stil believe
And it's Love

Unfortunately I had a seated place but luckily everybody stood up after the first few songs. My seat was very close to the stage so I had a great view. I really enjoyed myself and I didn’t stop smiling since. Even my alarm clock couldn’t get that smile off this morning.
What more to say…It was worth the traffic jams before and after the show.
Hope to see them again real soon.
But what was the crowd like near the front? The upcoming Lisbon shows are my first ever big arena shows and i have 10c tickets, but i'm just worried about the crowd. Does it get really really rough and squashed up front?
no need to worry, in reality it's not as rough as you see on videos or dvds. in arnhem, the security was pretty tight and alert all the time, and the frontmost zone (nearest the stage) is actually a "closed" arena. more people can't get in anymore after a certain amount of crowd has been reached. after the barrier is closed, everybody inside got a special tag bracelet so that they may go outside later and come back in without trouble. there's enough room to move around inside the barrier, and there's always spare room at the back if you need to catch a breath or relax to the sound of PJ.
one thing though: you have to get in as early as you can. stand in line as early as you can. the barrier closes doors as soon as it reaches max capacity. once you're inside, it's heaven. have fun!
just came home (...and it was/ is a long drive to this small town)... but I wanna scream out my thanks to the best band ever on this planet.
I just screamed my lungs out: drop the leash, get out of my fuckin face
great statements, soooo much energy, an unbelievable audience, and
great organization of the whole event, (thanks great great netherlands !!! indeed the greatest country around )
only people are sometimes difficult: the bus transfer to town was crazy!
but well... I really seem a lucky one
the good vibes I took withme... keep on rockin (wow, what a solo, what a great version of keep on rocking in a free world - get the boot, its worth it)
happy
thanks again and later...
...the world is come undone, I like to change it everyday but change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.
