I know if you jailbreak an iPhone it voids the warranty so I would assume the same with Android. However you could usually just restore an iPhone to original settings if something happens and I would assume the Android is the same way so I think it's a non factor.0 -

wow. this is everything I hate... on a phone. I loathe government control. I dont need a phone logging in every little thing I do. Fuck that.
Call me a fanboy I dont care, but it said in the article, that steve jobs said "google phones log everything and iphones dont". well, he was right and thats the truth. Yet another thing he was right about.5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10

The iOS is alot less intrusive and actually when I went to the Apple store to have my phone updated the guy there set my phone to diagnostics off for me. He pretty much told me the reason to turn that feature off was it really hurt battery performance. Personally I don't give a shit if someone reads my texts. I have nothing to hide...except that I love Mich Ultra and ketchup on my steak!0 -

I'll fool around with my phone and see if I can find it. The guy turned mine off at the Apple Store so you could always go there. I believe it's default is off and a user has to "opt in" in order to actually have the feature on.

Rooting is definitely the way to go, it opens up so many more possibilities for your android phone. And this is why I'll be buying the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Its a stock os (no bloatware, etc) and can be rooted in just 2 steps.9/3/11 PJ20 Alpine Valley

looks like I may be swinging slightly toward iphone for two simple reasons,
the deal the place is offering for the iphone 4 is "decent", and I like itunes...
I do appreciate the Galaxy and android OS, but I'm just a bit scared of new shit, or shit I haven't messed with. Its not them, its me "...would you like some forks?" EV 12-02-060 -

I don't think you will be disappointed especially if you are already familiar with how Apple does some things.0 -

Microsoft chief executive Steven Ballmer joined Nokia boss Stephen Elop to unveil the new Lumia 900 smartphone, which would run on Windows mobile software and tapped into a growing trove of popular mini-applications.
The two firms did not disclose the price or release date for the Lumia 900, but said it would be offered exclusively on the latest generation 4G long term evolution (LTE) network of US telecom giant AT&T.

“The reviews have been fantastic,” Ballmer said of Windows-powered phones, which had been late-comers to a booming market increasingly dominated by Apple and Android handsets.
Lumia 900 had front and rear facing cameras with Carl Zeiss photo technology and 4.3-inch high-definition displays.
“I think Nokia is going to be back in the US in a very big way,” AT&T president of mobility Ralph de la Vega said at a press conference.
“We are big fans of Windows phones.” Nokia showed off an array of applications made just for Lumia 900, including 20 videogames made by console industry colossus Electronic Arts.
Elop said Nokia planned to price Lumia 900 ‘aggressively’ to establish a strong beachhead on the US smartphone battlefield.
He said that Lumia would then land in China and Latin America to fight for market share.

Nokia hardware tends to be pretty solid, I really like the N9/Lumia look feel. I'm on the fence with Nokia and windows teaming up. I really think Nokia had something special with it's open source MeeGo/Harmattan which is what the N9 runs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MeeGo_%28operating_system%29
Nevertheless, I'm a fan of Nokia and prefer them over the competition. Nokia is also suppose to start making tablets to take on the ipad and Galaxy Tabs.
Can't wait for that!0 -
I'm eligible for an upgrade and I was thinking about upgrading to the Droid Razr Maxx from the Droid X. Can anyone who has this comment on it? It's supposed to have great battery life, and overall the reviews I've read have been positive. Only thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger on the purchase is all the reviews on the lackluster camera I've read. I may just wait to see what comes out in the next few months.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0
