Tori Amos. I'm sure she is great if you are (a) about fifteen and a bit precious, or (b) mad. If you are rational and like songs that are not necessarily all about Tori Amos, then you might find that the plaudits bestowed upon this creature are somewhat generous.

They're pretty overrated, especially around this neck of the woods.

I agree with him. Their albums all pretty well sound the same, and I heard they were amazing live but they turned out to be one of the worst live bands I've seen. If you've read reviews for their new album you should be able to see pretty clearly that they're overrated. To me the new one sounds like a dumbed down version of their already pretty simple music.

Probably one of the most underrated and underappreciated bands of all time. Don't think you could be more wrong. You were much closer when you put the Keys.
  • Brothers was a 4 outta 5 star album coming from their 2-3 star catalogue. Now they're filling the void for all the White Stripes fans.

well firstly... i dont read reviews.. i listen to the music myself.. which ive been doing with this band for almost a decade. and i have seen them live and theyve blown me away every time. its one of the thrills of my life to be able to see patrick drum. i guess i dont tend to raise bands up on a pedestal to begin with and so when peeps say this or that band is over rated i get confused and wonder whos rating them in the first place and by what criteria. and on that note im off to listen to chulahoma. 8-)

cate, i am sure i have never heard every song ever composed. rem has a few good tunes but i don't get the hype. stevie ray vaughn...makes me vomit. i dislike his guitar sound and i dislike his voice.

    things like this.

the black crowes? wear me out fast.
the black keys? only heard on the radio and wasn't impressed enough to care

see theres the problem.. you allowed radio to make your mind up for you... they rarely play the best songs and they decide what you hear. but i fully admit the black keys arent for everyone and thats alright.

Ah, now. Johnny Cash. There's someone who is overrated. A bloke who has to wear black all the time to emphasise that he's a bit dark and angsty, and who sings one note out of the side of his mouth that sets rabid dogs off whining from about fifty miles away, is proclaimed to be some kind of genius and icon of western popular culture? Bollocks. Folsom Prison Blues? Flotsam Scrotum Pubes, more like. [/rant.com] 8-)
