kings of leon. they play annoying radio friendly rock of the likes of maroon 5. awful.
arcade fire. I've actually changed my opinion about them a bit, since they were pretty good live at bridge school, but I don't get why everyone thinks they're the saviors of modern music.
    death cab for cutie. booooring.
u2. I can't bear to hear two or more of their songs in a row.

forgot to add björk. I can't stand her voice, and the music's not very good either.

I really try, and they really get on my nerves. A few good songs I guess. I don't get the reverence for Pet Sounds. I've listened to it dozens of times and don't think it's in the same ballpark, league, or sport as Rubber Soul or Revolver. Now THAT is overrated.

His stuff with Cream and Derek & the Dominoes is amazing, but his solo stuff is kind of boring.

    Any Beach Boys defenders?

I can understand Clapton. He's a great player, but not much of a writer. He's written (but mainly co-written) a handful of great songs, but more of his hits are either covers, or written for him by other people.

Most of Cream's songs were written by Jack Bruce, or written by Bruce with Pete Brown. Clapton collaborated with the two on "Sunshine Of Your Love", but who knows how much, or what he contributed. His most famous contribution to Cream (and the song that subsequently became the name of his greatest hits album as well as his music festival) was Crossroads, which is a Robert Johnson cover.

Layla is a great song, but it was co-written with Jim Gordon, and the signature riff was reportedly written (un-credited) by Duane Allman.

His most popular solo recordings are mostly covers (Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, etc) or were written by J.J. Cale. There are a few that Clapton wrote, but usually with the help of others.

Clapton is more a performer and less an artists. I really do like him though. His playing, and his voice are great, but he relies mostly on others for his material.

Yeah, I'd say they're pretty accurately rated. Pretty revolutionary, but always in the shadow of the Beatles, almost by choice. Just the fact that they helped urge the Beatles on says quite a bit to me. There couldn't have been many bands with a resident "creative genius" before Brian Wilson.

The Beatles - can never understand why they are placed so high, The Beach boys are better
Metallica - Same old meat and veggie sound
GnR - don't get the hype
Michael Jackson - the dude didn't even write all his songs, who cares if he can dance

I TOTALLY agree with about the Beatles being overrated even though I do like them individually especially George Harrison. GnR yes overrated however their debut album was the real deal a Ten similar to PJ's ten.

Metallica I disagree with even though their early work was Auber fantastic than their latter.

As for Michael their will be no other entertainer like him ever again whether one likes him or not.
