Haven't seen anyone mention this -- after Black Diamond, Ed drank some wine and spit it into the crowd just before Alive. Then I saw Mike and Jeff talking to each other and were like "WTF"? and shaking their heads. At the time I thought Ed was jealous of Mike stealing the spotlight for one song, but then I was thinking it was KISS tribute. Any thoughts on this?
Hello All, I just wanted to share, I got some pretty good pictures at MSG last night and since I was kinda behind the stage so for those of you that were in the first few rows, I might have gotten a picture of you rockin out to Pearl Jam. There are two places you can find the pictures: either at my myspace page:
myspace.com/annypooh3
and since I know not everyone has myspace:
2005: Montreal, Ottawa, Pittsburgh
2006: Camden I & II, Continental II (NJ)
2008: Camden I & II, DC, MSG I & II (NYC), & EV: NYC II
2009: Spectrum last 2 nights
2012: EV: Orlando I & II, Ft. Lauderdale I
2013: Brooklyn I & II
2016: Ft. Lauderdale & Miami

Still waiting for MSG to be relevant, were a long way from 98..... Where's the introduction of a rare/new tune. Both setlists average
Interesting comment from somebody that's never been to an MSG show (as seen in your sig). I guess you don't see the relevance in a band releasing a show on DVD because it was so good.
Keep enjoying those Camden shows...
(no offense to Camden btw, I've been there and enjoyed it. but comparing it to MSG is well...no comparison.)
Buffalo '96, Merriweather '98, VFC (D.C.) '98, Jones Beach III '00, Buffalo '03, Camden I '03, MSG I & II '03, Albany '06, East Rutherford II '06, MSG II '08, MSG I '10
oh wait-I'm one of those people singing the words I love that aspect of the concert, that the place is filled to the rafters and everyone in the place knows every single word and sings along in unison. It gives me goose bumps.
Esp. when everyone sings Alive.
And last night when everyone was singing RVM.
I think not everyone knows the words to Black Diamond or they'd be singing that too
That's great that you love that and that's your opinion and I have mine, I personally like to hear the singer sing and not the crowd, if that's what you want to do after paying your hard earned money to see a band then more power to you. To me it would be like going to a play and shouting out the lines that you know, I sing along also, but silently or at a very low level, mostly out of respect for the people around me.
But I'm OK with it, it's just like Grateful Dead, I saw them 169 times, a lot on the east coast and it was the same thing, everyone sang the whole time, the energy level was higher than the west shows, but I enjoyed myself more out west as the whole seen was more mellow. I guess it's a trade off, the last time I was in NYC was in 1994 and man I had a GREAT time the past few days, all the New Yorkers could not have been nicer if they tried and the shows were great and I still have Hartford and Mansfield to go!!!! Oh and there is a girl that works at Local across the street from MSG named Laura, MAN I fell in love with this girl, she's from Alabama and was the best and nicest person I have met as well as hot, if I wasn't married already I would have asked her to marry me. Like the shirt says I LOVE NY.....
also thanks for the great seats 10 club, sec. 71 yesterday and 70 today, 4 rows directly to the side of the stage right behind vip, and to think i was disappointed when i saw i wasnt getting floor yesterday!! ps- one of the olson twins was sitting about 10 seats away both nights. . .who would guess they are fans? one dude i was talking to from vip who knows the band said they are very cool, so i'll take his word for it. . .
Dude! Were you the guy sitting in front of me last night in section 70? We were row G, seats 1 and 2...
Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"
Still waiting for MSG to be relevant, were a long way from 98..... Where's the introduction of a rare/new tune. Both setlists average
oh so this is what people are talking about when they mention a "pearl jam snob", is this sour grapes or just overall apathy? i know, i know, its just your opinion, well this was my opinion of your post.
Can't find the words to describe what last night meant to me...but I loved every last second of it. And I got seats in row K - with a 10C number in the 400,000s, I never dared think I could be so lucky.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Try to tell me that you love me, throw your little punches at me...
One of the most unreal experiences I have ever had. They cemented their spot in my mind as the greatest rock & roll band of the past few generations last night. They put on one HELL of a show and just completely blew the roof off of that place. Some people are saying set list was average - okay, maybe it looks it, but it was one of those "had to be there" type concerts then. Because words cannot DESCRIBE what that place was going through. I could feel the floor bouncing beneath my feet - multiple songs (Release, Corduroy, Garden, SOLAT, Even Flow, Given To Fly, DTE, Go, Betterman, RVM, Last Kiss & Alive) I had to strain my ears just to pick Ed apart from the crowd - sometimes I couldn't even do that.
Not to mention, but if you take a look at the setlist, the only "slow" songs on there up until the 2nd encore were Release & I'm Open (and Wishlight) (Miracles was the punk / hard rock version like the original)...That was one fuckin' tour de force set is all I can say. Eddie & the band didn't let up once Release kicked in and didn't let us catch our breath until we sang along to No More.
Best concert I've ever seen - and ever will see. Amazing crowd, and Eddie proved why shows at the Garden are truly special.
Here's to you, wastoids. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the show behind us. I didnt think 4 guys could smoke a metric ton of weed while holding two full beers in each hand. Your consumption was inspiring. To see and smell that daring a feat executed to perfection was a first for me. bravo. Wearing sunglasses the whole show was also nice touch. Again, another first.
I know you were fans with 10C tickets. Or at least 2 of you were. You guys knew the words to every song and sang them in your slurred stupor with gusto. You deserve your own 10C bootleg series.
The way you rocked out was awesome. Row K could not contain you. Your headbanging during SOLAT and RVM was epic! When you accidentally banged heads with the 10c'er standing in row J in front of you, I knew it was on- The Rocking Would Not Be Denied.
You guys were also thoughtful. When your buddy passed out while standing up and fell on my wife during YL, you saved his beer from spilling! This saved your friend $7! And when your other buddy went to sleep during Last Kiss, screaming expletives at him seemed to perk him up for a few minutes. Did he drive you home?
Hilarious! thanks for sharing You painted a vivid picture...
Ok, first of all... let me thank god for their being no show today I dont even know if Ill be ready for Hartford untill about 830 tomorrow night! haha andMANSFIELD TOO..
These 2 shows were amazing and i really dont think the setlist had much o do with it... the ENERGGY and connection between the guys and the fans was like nothing ive ever seen before... it was just AMAZING And i loved every second of it... I never thought WMA and WHo YOu are would be so good live... Eddie screwin up the beginnnnig of betterman was CLASSIC!!!! Black Diamond was awesome... the intensity for evolution given to fly rearview mirror why go alive wma SOLAT>.. Give me a break.. just awsome. SO SPECIAL!!!
was kind of shocked that for 2 shows got no BLACK JEREMY BABA or ROCKIN..., but hell, thats what the next 3 shows are for i hope! haha... as i declared on 7/8/03 - I WLL NEVER MISS A PEARL JAM SHOW AT MSG AGAIN!!!
oh ya 1 more thing... NO CODE dude... if you rreally are a fan of this band... you would not be saying what you said... ooo we didnt get breath or dirty frank so it wasnt a special SHOW>.. give me a break dude...
Secondly... YOU GUYS, THe other fans like me>>> THANK YOU... THANK YOU For lettin me go to w show with my TEN CLUB seats knowing that i am goin to be sittinnext to a couple of cool dudes or girls when im extra luckey that are ready to rock out and respect the band and the relationship the bands has with us the way i do... that makes the show much more enjoyable

dude, what are you talking about? why are you even posting in this MSG thread if you weren't even there? relevant? relevant to what? we're talking about CONCERTS. and going on your logic, I would say Mike McCready taking a lead vocal for the first time in PJ history with Ace Frehely on guitar is new/rare, and thus "relevant." And also, a long way from '98? well, they deemed the 2003 show to be good enough for a DVD so that doesn't even make sense.
you take way too much pride in just living in Boston. "Pearl Jam played almost their entire cataloge in Boston in 2003!" "Tom Brady won 3 Super Bowls!!" Both of these statements are true. and that's because Pearl Jam and Tom Brady are great at what they do. BUT YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING!!! all you do is post about what THEY DO on the internet.
you won't respond. you never do...you fucking toolbox.

GOD I LOVE US!!!! You are 100% correct and right about uncle tool box over there whatever his name is... BOSTON will be great again tho this year I would assume... but can it be MSG??? Boston o6 was pretty amazing first show eddie called us best crowd since south america... 2nd show was the LEASH show along with PARACHUTEs SOLAT... indifference... man what a show that was also
One negative thing I will say -- I thought it was odd that a lot of guys thought it was cool to go to the shows in their office clothes. I saw guys in the beer line wearing slacks and dress shirts and texting on their Blackberries. Really bizarre for a PJ show. I'm sure these guys didn't know any songs that came out after '95 and just went so they could brag about it the next day. Kind of pisses me off when I think of all the real fans who were practically begging for an extra ticket around the box office.

true... but i think that happens at any show... and i think the rest of us made it clear... very clear to the band what type of crowd was there!
Hey anyone know what hotel the band stayed at??? i just got home, was in town for shows since tue afternoon couldnt find anyone or anything out and i was at the SOHO GRAND

LMAO. Priceless and very well said. Good point about Black Diamond too, I was staring in disbelief when Mike sang and I thought it was probably the first time ever. If that doesn't count as a rarity, I guess some people will never be happy.

I'm sure the Boston show ill be great. All PJ shows are great. but yeah that guy thinks that if Eddie says it's a great show or if they play some rarity, then Boston is on top of the world and thus, so is he.

that was really an odd sight to behold. him playing the opening chords and singing with no other accompaniment. It was the rest of the song that really rocked though.
on the way to my car, I actually walked by Ace while he was coming out of the building and was being led to his ride. I said, "Ace, you're the man." He sort of gave me the "I was sort of hoping to get from the building to the street without being recognized" look because then others noticed it was him. oh well. either way, it was sweet that he played with them.
Amazing show. I just wish they did less doubling up. Although everything they re-played I thought was better tonight. Just imagine how much better the set would have been if they replaced all the repeats with other stuff. I feel like there were some technical problems the first night and they wanted to show they could really rock those songs.
I thought both shows were incredible though. I wish every concert was as good as these two were. Just wonderful.
Guys lets put this in perspective... even flow alive why who you are wma given to fly evolution no more... thats 8 out of 30songs they repeated... you know your gettin no more every show this tour... not my fave it isw hat it is, it has a point...t hey are playin WMA and WHO YOU ARE for first time in years and they have re worked the endf of the each song to make it better for us... Even flow needs no explanation... mike/matt solo's- ALIVE is just crazy at the solo, how cant they play that?? THAT LEAVE Evolution and given to fly... which i agree they could swap those out but both nights EVOLUTION go tthe floor shaking and the crowd response for GTF is amazing... so i cant knowck the repeats... i will say that for me... NO BLACK, BABA or ROCKIN... kind of hurt but thats what hartford and boston are for!
I just feel like if they ended with BABA after Indifference, that may have made it the greatest PJ SHOW ever...

The ironic thing here is that I want to say "this isn't even worth responding to".
If you were there and are saying this; you have no passion. If you were not there and are saying this; you have no clue.

Interesting comment from somebody that's never been to an MSG show (as seen in your sig). I guess you don't see the relevance in a band releasing a show on DVD because it was so good.
Keep enjoying those Camden shows...

LMAO. Priceless and very well said. Good point about Black Diamond too, I was staring in disbelief when Mike sang and I thought it was probably the first time ever. If that doesn't count as a rarity, I guess some people will never be happy.
that ends that. A 1st round knockout. Well done
