We sat in section 123 and during Betterman we were able to see the lights on the scaffolding behind the stage going up and down and the wires securing them snapping. Thought for sure something was going to break.......awesome show and loud crowd, was a big sing along all night to every song!
I don't normally care what people wear, I just thought it was a case of Manhattanites being pretentious and too cool for the room. Never seen the dress clothes at a PJ show before. My bad.
Just an observation from a local: not everyone in NYC is a "Manhattanite." I would venture a guess that the majority of people who work in Manhattan are commuters. After all, if you lived in Manhattan, you'd have stopped home and gotten changed, because who wants to go to a concert in your work clothes? Especially with the beer and pee splashing potential?
Anyway, it's to your credit that you accepted the correction. Word.

I first felt the bouncing a lot during Corduroy. I was behind the stage and it shakes back there, too. I never felt it again as much as during that song. Once those drums came in during the intro, it felt like a trampoline.
Yeah...recall that the Live from at the Garden DVD was shot on night one from July 8, 2003, and that's the show where the band realized for the first time that when they play MSG, the cement floors actually bounce. From a review of that show:
In the encore break, unbelievably, the crowd kept getting louder and louder and louder…the entire building was roaring with the screams of fans rabid for more. There is no way to fully describe it unless you were witness to it. Ed came back onstage with an MSG staffer in tow and told the crowd that they had been “scared shitless” because the arena floor (made of concrete, I might add) had been shaking through Evolution and the encore break. The staffer informed him that it had only happened three times before: for Iron Maiden, The Grateful Dead, and Bruce Springsteen. Pretty good company to be in, if you ask me.
And if you listen to the boot from July 9, 2003 (MSG 2), when the band starts playing "Corduroy," you can hear Ed say, "...and I can feel it, again! YEAH!"
They love it too. Just another reason why the Garden is the best indoor place in the world to see a show.

I don't know where you were sitting, but I was behind the stage, up 2 decks, I think. And it was bouncing up and down. It is a bit unnerving when a concrete floor is doing that.
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
awesome, awesome show! having been in attendance for both nights, have to say MSG I probably *just* edges out MSG II for me....but both just soooooooo good! pearl jam at MSG = perfection and amazement, ALWAYS!!!
Night 2 was probably the better of the two shows for me, but it's close. The energy of night 2 was just insane -- from the band and the crowd. The band just seemed to be having a great time up there and I love me some SOLAT, Lukin and Rats!!! Hmm... but then we got Leash, STBC and Porch for MSG 1 --damn, decisions, decisions. (But really my fave this go round was probably You Are in DC - friggin' awesome!)
Loved the floor bouncing. Felt it night 1 too... but it was way more pronounced night 2. I first felt it during GTF. I was jumping around like a maniac, stopped for just a second... but the floor kept moving. Then it was even stronger during Better Man. Fun!!
Can't wait to do it again.

both my wife and I clearly remember the seats behind and above the band bouncing like crazy 9/11/98 (facing the stage, we were on the right over their shoulders). maybe the whole place wasn't shaking? but that section sure as shit was.
definitely shaking during this show. felt the same. we were on the floor this time (worse seats, would you believe?) and it's an eerie feeling...

just listening to the audience bootleg now... have reached Corduroy and the floor in my office is bouncing!
Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?
I'd just like to post a big thank you message to the lady who sold me her two spare tickets for MSG II. I'd travelled from Wales and only had tickets for MSG I, what a plonker!! Obviously, couldn't miss second night and ended up in cancellation queue for five hours when my saviour came along!! so thank you whoever you were - I know you were at Wembley last year and in Cardiff in 2000 - I was the girl with the red hair who's boyfriend had just about reached the end of his tether cos he was queuing when, whilst he likes Pearl Jam, he didn't like them enough to queue that long!! I'd already dragged him over the Atlantic Ocean to see them and he nearly cracked!! So thanks to you, I wish I'd got your name and thanks to Soloman, the guys from Bostom and New York(sorry didn't get your names) and the die hard family of four who were in the queue with us (sorry also - you know what I mean :-) hope you all got tickets, I'm sure you did - nice meeting you all - Trudi
Got to see Camden 1, then it was MSG 2 the following week.
What can I say? except, Holy Shit!
It was an amazing show, I can't even remember the last band I saw at the Garden, ...it's been that long since I've walked into the place. It hasn't changed a bit. Makes me miss living in NY and having all of that wonderful music at your doorstep.
First off, I met the friends I would be spending the afternoon, night and next morning with,......panthergirl, GroovN, Green Disease (heheheh), and pgirl's hub who flew up that day for the show.
So right there, being with those wonderful people, meant the whole adventure was already perfect.
Went to the Wishlist pre-party on 9th for supper and a Guinness. Nice little Irish bar.
GroovN sat with me, we went to the ticket window to pick up our seats.
8th row, section 2, seats 10 & 11 in front of Stone.
HOLY CRAP! NEVER IN MY DREAMS WAS I EXPECTING TO HAVE SUCH KICK ASS SEATS, I KNOW MY NUMBER IS LOW, BUT DAMN! IT'S THE GARDEN, I FIGURED WE WOULD BE WAY FURTHER BACK OR UP ON THE SIDES.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TEN CLUB....AMAZING.
(sorry, had to yell that....)
The show was great from start to finish, Release as the opener? Are you shitting me? I actually had tears streaming down my face for that, it had happened the week before in Camden hearing Love, Reign O'er Me.
Not too often that happens to me.
Anyway, everyone here has summed up what a fantastic show it was very well.
by the way, we saw some AMAZING rats at the corner of 8th and 33rd street at about 2:30 a.m.
NEVER EAT AT THE TGIFRIDAY'S OR MCDONALD'S IN THOSE LOCATIONS.
HOLY SHIT, IT WAS SURREAL, HUNDREDS OF THE SCOUNDRELS WERE RUNNING IN AND OUT OF THE SEWER, ALL OVER THE TRASH, HOLY SHIT!
Thank you once again Pearl Jam for kicking so much friggen' ass!

I've seen rats before in the city, you know, 1 or 2 down in the subway tracks occasionally, but the sheer volume of them running all over the place between the sewer grate, and making their way from TGIFriday's garbage bags, shuffling in and out of the broken down boxes in front of Payless, then lounging around on McDonald's wall of trash was utterly, disgustingly, amazing.
Would have been a good special on Animal Planet, or the Discovery Channel.
Ok, I don't usually post on here much, but I feel the need to address this because I'm sick and tired of whiny fans. You're one of them, so here goes...
I've been to MANY shows (over 25), including some of the more legendary shows (Randalls Island I and II, State College, MSG I and II 1998, etc, etc.) and last night's show is in my personal top 5.
Amazing show. The crowd was fantastic (this is coming from a Philly guy who can't stand New Yorkers in general). The people around me were rocking out and were cool as sh*t. I don't need to hear Brother or Dirty Frank at a show to make it a memorable experience. For me, it is all about the energy from the band and the crowd. With the number of shows that I've been to, I've already heard most of the old and new songs live anyway. With that said, Pearl Jam brought the house down last night.
If you're never been to a PJ show at MSG, you're seriously missing out. It is most definitely "relevant" and PJ brings it "A" game every time.
I agree. Iv'e been to hundreds of shows (all different kinds of music) and it is not about set lists it is about vibe. MSG has a really great vibe to begin with and when PJ is there it gets even better. We brought some family members that have not seen them before and they were blown away. Bootlegs and set lists are great but it is nothing like feeling an gigantic concrete building shake under your feet. I have the boots of the shows that we were at and it brings back the best memories and feelings regardless of what songs they played that night.
The band can feel the love that we give them and that's why we get great shows in return. Eddie even says it in MSG II this time. There were no slow downs the entire show. Even when Eddie threatened a "campfire sing along" to take it easy on his voice we ended up with Lukin.
Every one should enjoy the show that they were able to get to. They always put on a great experience for the fans!!
As a side note: This was the first time that I was able to understand what Eddie was saying when he wasn't singing. Way to go sound guys!!!!

I agree. The guy is actually thanking people for hitting on his wife. That's great.
Well my wife is hitting the big 4-0 this year so getting hit on is a treat! Trust me, if I was 27 and my wife was behind them on line, I would hit on her too.
BTW, forgot to thank her for waiting on line so I did not miss the opener. Considering it was Release, I am truly thankful!
I Travel From Greece For Msgi ,ii And Was Amazing,,,,special In Msgii I Was More Close To The Stage And Was Awesome,,,have The Best Time,,the Jammer From Usa Was Cool And Very Good Persons, and Have Alot Of Fun!!!!!!the Best Of All Was That The Morning I Was Going Around New York City And People See Me With My Ten Club Greece Pearl Jam T-shirt Say Hello To Me And Talk To Me,,,i Meet People From Scotland ,italy, aystria, germany ,ireland, poland, denmark, mexico, brazil!!!!!was The Best!!

I tried, it was my 30th bday on june 25th. I was super-pysched to see PJ in the legendary MSG, the 2nd night, after seeing 2 great shows in Camden and hearing how awesome MSG I was.
My boyfriend, who is only 24th and a hard-core death metal grind-head came to both Camden shows with me and enjoyed them despite his aversion to mainstream music and concerts (the shows he goes to cost about $5-12 a ticket!) NJ night one - he sat with me at my fanclub seats (end of 1st section, rowAA way in the back, last row before the 2nd section) NJ night two - he had such a good time night one he got his own ticket for the lawn b/c I had the luck of buying a ticket from a supergreat fan with awesome seats (row 7. ) So he was actually looking forward to the show at MSG.
Anyway, looking forward to MSG II is the whole point with a boyfriend who more than wanted my bday to be great and enjoy another great PJ experience with me. Upon picking up my seats from the fanclub window, I was greatly dismayed to see they were in the very last row of the second section on the floor. Next to the soundbooth.
I knew the seats were going to be horrible as much as I knew it was going to be an awesome show.
The seats were AWFUL!!! The sound was horrible!!! I could see Eddie's forehead and the sound was better out in the concession area. I would have rather been in my car listening to a radio broadcast then in my seats. They were terrible, I wanted to leave, immediately. But I kept thinking the great "legendary" sound at MSG would make up for it. All I heard were other fans, and traces of the band.
To make matters worse, everytime I went to get a beer (and it was about every other song, b/c that was all I could do to keep myself from crying over the money wasted and time wasted on my bday - philly to ny - not a cheap or easy trip, 30th bday - people want to party, at least the people I know!!) - everytime I went to get a beer, the security guard let people stand in our seats since we had the 2 on the end. The one time the guy explained to me that he was friends with the electrians in MSG and they usually get to sit in much better seats up on the sides, way closer to the stage but since it was sold out for PJ they were kinda just wandering around. Great, he was about 6'5" and thought the seats were great. I am 5'4" and paid for my tickets- that was fun to deal with.
We left at Last Kiss. I didn't think the 3rd encore was that great and I was ready to leave NYC, sober up on the train ride back to the NJ Path station (a 30 minute wait plus a 30 minute train ride) I parked in and take a little nap in the car before the long turnpike ride home. It was awesome. I still refuse to look at my bank account for that event - the cost of the tickets, gas, tolls, trains, parking, beer at the garden and we even bought liquor (which was about the most reasonably priced item I have ever purchased in NYC - tanqueray and tonic for $6.50 - almost half gin - felt like i hit the jackpot for the day!)
I feel like I should apologize for hating my seats so much and for having such a miserable time - apologize to myself for not being able to enjoy something so legendary, apologize to the world b/c i used to think NYC was the greatest place on earth and now I just think it is gross, old, outdated, dirty and boring, and even apologize to the rest of the fanclub who totally enjoyed the show even though i didn't.
But, in reality, my seats stunk, NYC is a waste of money and only great on TV and to the foreigners who live and scam there. And that saved me trouble of trying to get fanclub Eddie Vedder tour tickets. Maybe I will get luckier through TM next time, sitting in the last row of the arena at the very top section would have been worlds better than where I sat.

I made all the trip from Madrid to see PJ once again (well, twice again).
So, I've been in the 2 MSG concerts. The 25June was my 10th PJ concert.
I don't read much these threads anymore because after 2 pages all the comments are pretty much the same and I find no criticism at all. When I read that most of the people think in most of the PJ concerts that that was probably their best concert, the people amazing, the band amazing and so on I say: "Well...". I love PJ but this love hasn't removed my critic reasoning so far, I think...
So, IMHO, the 24th concert was OK, good, but the 25th concert was excellent (almost 3 hours, a long and good setlist and a special atmosphere in the Garden...)
I was behind the stage and I was so afraid of how I was going to like the concerts (in Europe they never sell these tickets). anyway, the sound was excellent, and the views of the group, OK, not so good as being on the floor, but OK.
Very good organization. Everything very easy-going (compared to some concerts in Europe): no queues for entering, short queues for getting a beer, no queues for the WC, no crowded spaces, no moshing, no extra-drunk people bothering...
So, in general very good, but next time I'll try to be on the floor again...
Saludos

WOW.. I was up in section 414; up as high as you can go, directly behind the stage. I guarantee that those seats were much worse than yours. The lighting rigging was in the way, we could barely see the band.
But I LOVED the show.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

I think having good seats - like I did for Camden II and other shows ruined me - also, I always have high hopes for NY and it always disappoints.
I downloaded a fan's bootleg, waiting to have time this weekend to download the one I bought from the 10c, I get sick everytime I hear the opening notes to Release and then forget Corduroy. The only consolation is that the audio in my car sounds 100% better than what I heard in MSG from my seats.

Awesome show even for my 400's seats. Lost my voice, hurt my leg but the memories will last forever. My first Pearl Jam show was so amazing words can't describe the feeling that still remains with me weeks after the show. I have tried to get tickets for years but somehow I always missed out. Can't wait until next time.

I'll still assert that Cropduster was by far the most shocked I've ever been at a song during a concert. That came out of nowhere. I mean if they played something like Breath or even No Way, those songs are always in the back of your head as "Tonight might be the night!." For Cropduster, I forgot the damn song existed. Stunned disbelief.
Got the boot yesterday, one of the best evenflows ever (mike solo followed by matt solo followed by crowd singing chorus), Garden and Black Diamond. All in all an awesome night.

Oh my God!!! Even Flow blows my mind!!!! The crowd singing after Matt's solo is unreal!

so how does it compare to the audience boot ?

Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow

It takes balls to put out a UKE album!
I saw those HUGE rats too, discusting!!

:-O
AHHHHHH........
the shows: amazing... the traveling: nutty..
but the friends we shared it with were what made it so special.

(I need to add that A*FallsInMay was with us also!)

It's a group Photobucket account, so feel free to add your own as well
This is my kind of love...
