  • both great shows. Didn't mind the doubling up, because most people only go to 1 show. I was actually pleasantly surprised they played Alive again. Didn't expect that. I thought one of the coolest things was Stone just sitting down and watching Mike wrap up the set. he was like a fan, with the best 10 Club seat ever. It was also pretty amazing that the rest of the boys were ready to call it a night after Alive, but Mike WAS NOT leaving. He was playing Yellow Ledbetter, even if he had to play it by himself and pay a huge fine afterward.

My only gripe, same as last night.....People----you're cell phone and your digital camera take really, really shitty pictures from halfway up the floor. So you don't need to take 400 pictures, when every single picture you take blocks someone's view. The row in front of me, almost everyone in it was on their cell phone the whole fucking night. One guy even sat down for most of the first set, and was texting thewhole time. Next to him were 2 dopes, who spent the whole show either texting someone and sharing their texts with each other, or taking the absolutely shittiest pictures you'll ever see. I know they're shitty, because every time you took a picture, the camera blocked my view, and I could see how bad the picture came out

Cell phones/texting and digital cameras are really starting to ruin concerts. You're AT the show, you can wait til tomorrow to discuss it with your buddy in the nosebleeds.

    Ramblings part I

Great show again. The crowd was not as energetic as last night, but I think that can be expected since a lot of us went to both shows.

Ted Leo was pretty damn good!

Ace wailing Black Diamond was special. I saw him do that for the first time at MSG with Kiss way back around 1978.

CJ Ramone again, and Ed recognizing Rick "Ramone" was pretty cool.

Tonight I took my 16 year old daughter with me for her 1st PJ show and it was an experience I hope she will never forget. I know I won't.

Mike was on fire, he had a very good night except for Marker, but it is good to see someone other than Ed fuck up once in awhile.

Did I mention that I was able to get Set Lists for both nights? I have a lot of luck with NYC shows.

Anyways, I really think Pearl Jam may be the greatest live band ever. They never, ever disappoint. I feel privileged to be able to see them and share the experience that they so obviously enjoy.
    ~!~ Peace ~!~ Love ~!~ Pearl Jam ~!~

To all of you in sec 93, you guys fucking rocked the house tonight.

And also, I was pretty upset that they played World Wide Suicide tonight. My mother came with me to DC and MSG I and thats all she wanted to hear. It's clearly one of her favorites songs ever. Yesterday waiting in line for posters, some verizon was station was playing it and she nearly leaped for joy when she thought it was being soundchecked. And so, the night she doesn't go, it gets played. I felt pretty horrible about it and she literally cried when I told her that it got played... though a funny moment was when she yelled FUCK YOU EDDIE VEDDER. Ahhh...
    umm... you ok?

Sorry I may be in the minority, but I think night 1 was better......i was a little let down tonight. No way would I ever think any MSG night 2 would have 10 repeats. Other acts maybe not, but i wouldn't see other acts as much as I see this band.

    hah,
so you weren't the one who sent the text message to be posted on the big board that said that West Islip was in the house, or something like that? LOL
I know there was a couple next to me on their Iphones all night, I was wondering if they were texting to each other instead of talking

instead of seeing lighters glowing now you see the blue cell phone lights glowing! It's very strange to me.

RVm was intense, cropduster was a suprise and the return of WWS was awesome. Loved them closing out the 1st set with GO never saw that one coming. Unreal show Philly05 now has company after this gem. nope, not me. Pretty funny though. I just don't get it. maybe I'm just a crotchety old man. I just don't see a point of going to the show, and spending all night on the phone. At one point, in the row in front of me, 5 guys in a row were using their phone for various reasons.

I think we must be 'old school' and remember when people went to concerts to listen to music :)

I noticed a lot of guys on their phones too,

and then they discuss it with their buddies, so I thought maybe it is a guy thing and I do not understand? I don't know?

    I fully agree with you!

For me it seems a lot of people don't live their lives for themselves but for the others - showing them all the time what a great time they have.

At a Pearl Jam Show I listen and enjoy the show and will not disturb that impression by phoning around and sending text messages.

And yes - I could live without live ticker and wait till the end to read what they've played.

but it doesn't make me feel grumpy and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the show as it unfortunately did yours :)
I like the new fangled technology they have today!

what I didn't care for was sitting on an end seat and people kept passing me by and the whole time I'm thinking, "God, please don't let anyone spill beer on me!"
And the people that move over to an empty seat or stand in the aisle? That's not so cool
I like how at the shows I've been to (all 2 of them) there seems to be someone around that is super into the music and knows all the words and then high fives everyone when a particularly awesome song comes on!

I was a bit underwhelmed after the first night, there was nothing WRONG with MSG II but the energy from the first night seemed stronger. And there was a lot of the same songs (not entirely) as well. Ace Frehley (sp?) was a nice surprise but well, I didnt need to go both nights I now feel.

And I'm pissed about how they handled posters and that the person I sold my 10C ticket to (at face) didnt even use the seat but hung out with some of his friends and did not pass the ticket to anyone who could have used it. I think he sat in the nosebleeds and my extra seat in section 78 was empty. Lame. Very Lame.
sorry i disagree. . .i thought tonight was WAY better, better set list, and the energy was better. . .not saying last night wasn't great

  • ok, not much of a fanview...i'm exhausted and have to go to work tomorrow. but i sat behind the nicest couple with two young children. i was talking to the mom a bit and the son was about 10 and the daughter was about 8. it was just adorable...so nice to see a family rockin out together. i told the kids on the way out that they have very cool parents and to remember that in about five years. they so were so cute; they just smiled like they knew and just had their minds blown by pj. was absolutely precious...put a bigger smile on face after that amazing show!

It was AMAZING to see Matt and Mike sing...truly a highlight. However, overall MSG 1 was a hard act to follow. On it's own this show kicked ass. Compared to the first night (which is inevitable) there was a certain something missing...can't put my finger on it. With that said I mean, come on...it's Pearl Jam! Have you ever really seen them suck?! It's funny how hyper critical we've become. My friend and I have a theory about tonight. I suspect that about 70% of MSG 2 was there at MSG 1...and Tuesday night was a serious balls to the walls marathon ROCK AND ROLL show. We were exhausted today...I suspect many people were after that first night! Then after a full day of work to top it off...I was so excited yet so wiped out. I used every last ounce of energy I could muster up, but I don't think I was on par with night one (which was insane). I could be totally wrong with this...but maybe we were all just a little tired from the night before. I mean, I'm not 17 anymore!!! With that said though, they kicked ass as always. thank you to everyone sitting around us...you tried as hard as we did!!! A good time was had by all. Bravo New York!!! Until next time...

We released, we raged, we danced, we wandered into a garden of stone to find a marker in the sand.

We were open, we wished and wished and wished:
"I wish I was vice president.
    And Obama was president.
    End all future war.
That's what a president is for."

We loved and trusted, flowed, rocked, flew, and fucking *went* when he told us to fucking *go*.

We ran into the rain, won the lottery by being born, made the building sway, and saw things clearer.

We promised, we asked, we jumped up and down like freaks, and then we celebrated because we're still alive.

    We're still alive.

And as 22,000 of us plus boomstoneedmattjeffmike sang that together as one, I turned in a slow circle there on the floor and saw all of us, all of us with our hands raised.

    We're still alive.

I hope to see you all back at the garden next time.

    Peace. Peace. Peace.
I'm stuck in Florida but I have turned that same circle and I am taken with your post. Hope to glimpse your smiling visage next time around. I will go to New York

To everyone who attended and shared their view with us unfortunates stuck at home beholden to bosses or kids or ungrateful pets (I love my dog); Thank you. To the girl with the bruised knee, well I really did drink to it...but it's Pearl Jam...I'd smile with a broken leg. "This too shall pass."
And for the assholes who didn't go for the music but only to bitch about no Jeremy or piss where you shouldn't or threaten someone smaller than you... I hope to meet you someday and know you for who you are. It would be an early christmas gift for me.
