I know if I had the ideal seat, say dead center, 20 rows back, the sound probably would have been much better, and I knew it was the room especially after reading the post about sitting in different locations. And I like my man or girl who said, I'm jealous of SOME of your story, esp. the Limelight show....I know you're not jealous about alot of the rest of it, huh?? Thanks, that made me laugh...I was really sad about the dryer finally eating my long sleeve World Jam '92 with Pearl Jam written on the sleeve that I bought at that show...man I miss that shirt. But the real point of that story was no matter what the situation, every song started and when I heard those opening notes, I got a huge smile and chills, I'm getting 'em right now recalling it. THAT"S what this music has been doing for me for the last 14 years. I first heard 'em when my brother brought home the 3 song demo from college before TEN was out yet and I can't thank these guys enough. Getting sober you become very reflective about your life, you finally begin to own it, and thats what Eddie's been singing about, right? Owning as much of your life as you possibly can, so this was an important experience for me... The whole time I kept thinking to myself..., "...Man, I owe him a huge Thank You, that man right there doesn't even KNOW how many times he's saved my life..." That's what that show was about for me, much more so than the sound or the lights.
First off, great name, secondly some of those pics are really nice, my personal fave is the one of 'em on stage during RITFW with the house lights on. It took me right back to the moment, 'cause of watching everybody bounce along, thanks for that.
does anyone else get chills when they listen to the boot- during Alive when Ed says 'this is OUR moment! this is US! we're all still ALIVE'!!!!
Absolutely.
Glad to know other folks (apparently) still have the boot in constant rotation -- I've been listening to it over and over. So much so that the gf has sworn to kick me out of the house if it's blasting again tonight.
So like any good lil' fan I tossed it on the iPod and bounce around the house without bugging anyone.

But, that said, I felt like it was a good show. I liked that it was a lot of obscure stuff. Unfortunately the two girls I went with weren't as appreciative as they're more casual fans. It was nice too that I was at Reading, hearing Bleed for Me again (and now have from the concert download in a non-muffled version), I was one of the few that recognized it.
Someone at the beginning of the thread mentioned philly not having gotten paid it's dues. Regardless of the Camden show comments (that is JERSEY!), what about April 28th, 2003? That was Philly over in the Spectrum and I think one of the best shows I've seen as well.
Here's the problem with this show (which is why you have to take my opinion with a grain of salt), I was way up in the second tier. I would have likely had more fun at the show if I wasn't sitting next to all the state and community college kids that were there just to get f'd up. The party is down below in the bowl and definitely on stage. I could easily imagine if I was rocking out in a hardcore fan section, it would have easily been the best show. I could see the people dancing in the aisle for Rocking in the Free World and I wished I could have gotten down there for it (it was the best version of RitFW that I can remember).
Of 7 shows, it's definitely not the best, definitely not the worst. The Gorge killed any chance of seeing a better show, now I have to go and just expect a good time. The nice thing is that this show had a lot that WASNT in the Gorge show. Not only did I get to hear them close with RitFW which they didn't do there, but I also got to hear Leaving Here live finally.
Oh, and this was a complete show... it had Do the Evolution which has been played 7 out of 7 shows for me. Good thing I like the song
Sorry for the randomized thoughts... just wanted to get them out there.
I know im a bit late in posting my review of the show, but it's been a crazy ass week. OK...three words....OH MY GOD....and four more words....THANK YOU PEARL JAM!!!! What was supposed to be a spectacular experience in a luxury box, soon turned into me trying to find another ticket because i got shut out by my friends companies box because of the bosses kid, who decided at the last minute to go, who isnt even a fan (sorry i dont want to get angry about this again....I had sold my single ticket because my buddy could get me into his companies luxury box)
.....anyway my friend was cool enough to give me back the extra money i gave him from the box to get another ticket, i eventually found one for face value through another friend and wound up sitting in section 210A. I didnt care at this point i was just glad i was there, and really the seats werent THAT bad. I had a good set of binoculars with me and i rocked out with this memorable show. I've read a couple people saying that Wachovia Center isnt a good place to see a concert. It's not a good place to see Pearl Jam concert as far as sound is concerned. I dont know, maybe it was just where i was sitting, but i could hardly understand what Eddie was saying in bewteen songs. Couldn't wait to download the show just to see what he was saying. I have seen (and heard) some excellent shows at the "Wacko",so I dont agree that it totally sucks for every band. The Spectrum is Pearl Jam's house IMO.
The set list was such a treat for me. Faithful...Brain Of J....Not For You...Nothingman...Crown Of Thorns....some of my favorite PJ songs were played, and i (we) couldn't of asked for a better show. Thanks for my section being really cool, mellow, shorter people :-) I am short myself and it sucks when ya have to be behind some Andre The Giant. All in all, I had a blast hanging out with 2 (18,000) of my friends at a Pearl Jam show and that's what it's all about.
Glad to know other folks (apparently) still have the boot in constant rotation -- I've been listening to it over and over. alex
In constant rotation? Are you kidding me??? With Crazy Mary and Alive back to back, this cd is the only one in my car at the moment and those tracks are getting the most play!!!
Good stuff.
The thing I love about Alive is the fact that Ed obviously thought it was a moment to remember, as well. The fact that we all shared it....even better.
WASH, HARD TO IMAGINE, CROWN OF THORNS!!!!!
I've seen eight concerts and this Phialdelphia show blew
all previous away. If I could have only heard OTHER SIDE
this would have been my dream set list. AWESOME to say
the very least gotta get the boot. Cannot wait till the new
album comes out and a 2006 tour. YEA YEA YEA!

When I saw the setlist for this show, it was an instant buy for me in terms of the bootleg.
The only thing that kind of seemed off was Sleater Kinney backing the band on "Harvest Moon". Was it me, or did the girls sound off-key on their background "oooohs"? I kept cringing everytime they came in. It kind of threw off what was a great cover of a great Neil Young song (one of my favorites in fact).
Don't get me wrong...I love Sleater Kinney...in fact I've seen them 4 times live and their music is extremely strong on their own and Corin's voice suits them perfect. However, when they duet with Pearl Jam, it doesn't really mesh really well in my opinion. (though opening is perfectly fine).

“Hard to Imagine”
A true show for the faithful. Pearl Jam stopped in Philadelphia last Monday night to conclude their 2005 mini-tour of North America. With no new record to promote, the tour was an instrument for the band to show off and ultimately cement their legacy as the best rock band in the world right now.
When we heard rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard crunch into the opening of “Wash,” we knew we’d be in for a ride. But I don’t think anyone anticipated the unrelenting barrage of B-sides, rarities and covers that ensued. As lead guitarist Mike McCready strummed his way through the introduction to “Faithfull,” singer Ed Vedder asked: “we’re playing some songs we don’t play every night, we’re just wondering if that’s what you want to hear.” The crowd reverently sang back the chorus: “we all believe, we all believe it,” though at this point, I really didn’t.
What absolutely blew us away came during the first encore as the band launched into one of the most beautiful songs in their catalog, “Hard to Imagine.” Incredulousness was rampant, since previous to this tour, the song hadn’t been played since 1998. After picking my jaw up off the floor, Vedder introduced the next song as one “we play on special occasions.” “Crown of Thorns” then leveled everyone with Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament taking charge. Drummer Matt Cameron was exceptional throughout, making himself known on “Even Flow” and “Leaving Here” especially.
The group finished off the first encore with “Crazy Mary” and the old hit “Alive,” McCready shining on both. After a short break, Pearl Jam returned and finished off a stellar set with everything from Elvis’ “Little Sister” to Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” to their own immortal closer, “Yellow Ledbetter.” After thirty-two songs, everyone left with sore throats and big smiles.
Pearl Jam certainly holds a lofty perch in the music world, and after the show in Philly, it’s no surprise why. I can’t think of any other band that would tour without the backing of a new album, playing simply for the sake of their fans. The casual fan may not have enjoyed this show so much, as the set was centered on songs dusted off and retrieved from the archives. With a catalog so massive, the live shows are exceptional; the fans never know exactly what they’re going to get. The Philadelphia gig displayed Pearl Jam as a band still growing and testing their limits. It’s shows like this that make us come back for more year after year, album after album, tour after tour.
I was sitting in class the next morning, staring at my watch, when I realized the date was wrong. It was still the third. Usually I fix it, but I laughed to myself, looked around, pretended it was a cough, and let it stay, wishing it were only that easy to go back and have that day again. It was a dream come true.
I want to share my experience.
I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I get the ticket in August and i went to Philadelphia only to see the concert (first show ever). I took two free days at work, and travelled only to see the show. After the show, went back. Too tired, little crazy, but happy !!!
Now, i'm waiting for the SouthAmerica tour. Two days in Boca Juniors's stadium in Argentina. You will have to see the crowd !! There is no seat at the field. Will be shocking. I promised.

I have to agree with you, but I think it was the sound at the Wachovia. I listen to their records, so I had an idea of the lyrics. In a venue like that, I don't think you can afford to be a stickler without sacrificing just having a good time.

I just have to say that I think it's very cool that this thread is still going. I think it might just indicate that we were participants in a great show ... one that the general public might just benefit from.

hi, this is my first post on this board but i've been a fan for like 12 or 13 years now.
i was at the wachovia center show and am curious if anyone knows the story behind the girl from hershey, pa and her "mosquito bites"? before the 2nd encore ed was talking about that night feeling like the last night of the tour, and playing philly and said something like '...and it was all on the strength of this one little girl from hershey, pa. i just had to play this state so that she could show us her mosquito bites one more time..." or something like that.
the reason i ask, is because when they played the spectrum in 2003, they mentioned one of their fans named pete that i later read was a little boy that had cerebral palsey.
i just wondered what the deal was with this little girl. they are so great to their fans, and these kind of things warm my heart.
i really think he must not have said "mosquito bites" because that makes no sense...but that's what i got from it. i am totally not trying to be nosey, but i guess i am. if it's in bad form to post a response here, maybe you could message me? thanks in advance.
i'm sorry. i just finished reading the entire thread (it is long!). so, apparently the mosquito bite girl isn't a sob story...just a girl with mosquito bite boobs? well, i'm glad she's not sick anyway.
i wasn't at state college, but if anyone feels like re-telling that story, it'd be cool.

If not could someone give me a site where I can get it. This show was pretty magical. I'd like to have it forever.
