  • The concert at Wachovia arena was my first REAL concert....I only saw a couple bands play at a small venue before this....and I have got to say I was literally blown away. It was everything I could have ever wanted, really what dreams are made of. I promised myself that my first concert would have to be Pearl Jam, and nothing less.

I was hoping that they would open with wash or release, and I got my wish....yellow ledbetter is one of my favorites that brings back alot of memories, so it was a great choice for closing. It has been a longtime wish of mine to see Pearl Jam live, and I now feel fufilled. It was beautiful. I get emotional just thinking about it.

Ed looked gorgeous as ever, glad to see him with his hair longer like it used to be....unfortunately I was in club box 10, would have loved to have been closer to the stage, but I met some really great people from South Jersey, one of which had a Who hankerchief signed by Ed before the show (so lucky!)...and sung along to every song that I knew the words to. Many moments of "chills up the spine". Couldn't ask for anything more....we paid $5 for binoculars and I am glad we did....almost felt as if I was right there in front of them, even though I know I wasn't. I am now addicted for sure, nothing compares to seeing them LIVE!!!Can't wait to see them again!!! THANK U PEARL JAM!!!!!

well, the vibe of the band feeds off the energy of the crowd. they Go hand in hand. IMO

understood and agreed. however, the band was in a very festive mood and it showed. the crowd was either stunned by what was being played or oblivious b/c they were waiting for Daughter but listening to a song that probably sounded like 'A Crowd of Whores' …

I tend to think the crowd was stunned by what they were hearing.

this setlist was legendary. nothing even comes close. heck, I even had the perfect beer break opportunity when they decided to play, yet again my fav (not), Even Flow.

U SAT WITH MY LOVELY FRIEND!!!!! I WAS SO HAPPY SHE GOT HER WHO BANDANA SIGNED...AND IT LOOKED SWEET! LOVE U, M.
I died. I died and you just stood there. I died and you watched. I died and you walked by and said no. I'm dead.
  • Im posting a little late but i have to say this concert goes into my top 3 of all time pj shows. The energy was amazing, more so than Borgata i believe.
I had 7th row on mike's side {thanks 10 club} and it seemed to me like the band and all the people around me where up for a great show getting behind every song. I was also fortunate enough earlier in the day to win the xmas single autographed by the band for the Katrina relief benefit which almost made me shit. lol The only thing that could have made the night better would have been to get Ed;s harmonica or tamborine, but im not complaining. Just a great experience all around!!

Let me first say that the band was awesome and it was a great set-list. The crowd on the other hand left A LOT to be desired. Many "fans" in my section and in the sections around us were totally dead for most of the night other than for the hits. Most of the fans in our section were more interested in Eagles and Flyers chants than they were in the show. I hate to say it but the lack of energy from the crowd did take something away from this show. I saw the band in Toronto 2 weeks ago and this set list was much better than Toronto but the energy in the crowd made all the difference in the world. Another thing was the sound at the Wachovia Center wasn't too great. This show should have been at MSG.
huh? what show were u at ...i was at the philly show. the place was insane.
    7/1/03- DC, 7/12/03- Hershey, 9/28/04- Boston, 10/1/04- Reading, 10/3/05- Philly, 5/27/06- Camden I, 5/28/06- Camden II, 5/30/06- DC, *7/22/06- Gorge I, 7/23/06- Gorge II*, 6/20/08- Camden II, 6/22/08- DC, *6/24/08- MSG I, 6/25/08- MSG II*
  • I was also at the Philly show. I've seen the band 4 times and this one topped them all. My seats were behind the stage but this was the closest I've ever been. How awesome of them to come to the back of the stage and play for us. That was a great moment. And so cool to finally see them up close.
    Ed looked gorgeous as ever

I have to agree with this. :)

I was amazed at how much Mike McCready was jumping around. They have a lot of energy. 3 hours for 48 bucks. Well you can't find that anywhere else.

It was truly a great night. I'm still on a high from it. And I'm now listeing to WYSP here in Philly playing the show back.

I gather that Eddie likes to play the Spectrum. That's also my favorite venue here.

Everyone keeps pointing out random sections that seemed kind of lackluster, but from towards the back of the arena, it looked like that place was going insane.

The place was going insane. There were a couple covers they played that some didn't seem to know. I admit there were 3 songs I think were covers I haven't heard before but I pretended to know them. :D

My 19th show and this one ranks Number One! Possible because I drove 15 hours to Boston III by myself and sat in the cold and mist for a few hours before the show started, all the while knowing something was wrong with my car (turns out the transmission was busted, no Hershey show because of that).

Anyway, my 4th show in Philly (Spectrum, 2 Camden '03). There's just something about Philadelphia that makes me want to come back every time Pearl Jam plays there. Also love the history in that city. Can't get enough of it.

I said last week on this board that Philly deserved their "Classic" show, like MSG I '03 and Boston III. Well, Pearl Jam delivered big time. Fans were amazing! Awesome Betterman sing-a-long. You could tell the band really loved it. Awesome setlist. Heard a ton of songs I'll probably never hear again. 11th row seats were great. Thanks Ten Club!

    There is one upside...

At least we know there is good stuff on the horizon... its not like the usual post tour blues where it could be a long time before they come around again...

I'm extremely sad and have been talking to everyone I know about the show last night and the last couple nights. Totally reliving the moment now listening to the show on WYSP.

Joe! I barely got to talk to ya but good seeing you again as always.

I want to write up a huge fanview, but it's late and I'm not up to doing it properly. Maybe I'll get a case of Natty this weekend, chill at home, and do a posthumous drunken review of Philly '05.

I couldn't get 10c seats, but was very happy with my section 107 seats! My section was mixed with stoners, hard-core fans, and happy to hear the hits fans.
I just got home late last night, I can't wait to hear my download. The sound was muffled - didn't expect that since every PJ show I've been to was outside. I think I prefer the outdoor shows, but for next year's tour I'm going to try the earplugs for the arena shows.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to the dude sitting behind me who called my cell phone during the show! I don't remember your name, but that was VERY COOL! And I want to say hey to Sam and John from NYC. They met Boom before the show and had awesome pics! thanks for sharing!

I was so impressed with the diversity of the crowd. This was totally a multi generational show. And did anyone else notice that there were a lot of very cool parents bringing their kids to the show? I had 2 in my section, and met a single mom in line to enter with her teenage son. Way to go parents!

The set list was phenomenal, THANK YOU PEARL JAM! I can't wait for the new cd and tour next year!!!!!!

and saving money, lots of saving money.:)

It's a bit easier saving money for PJ ticketwise since they are so reasonable. They must pick their pricing from the bottom of the ticketmaster chart. Which is cool.

Can anyone help me get a bootleg of the Philly show?

Oh I'm so glad you posted, because although I asked you, I couldn't specifically remember your user name. I really enjoyed sitting next to you during the show. It was nice to see someone as pumped as I was right next to me.

I was on a total high knowing Ed had signed my Who bandana so I was rocking out. And the set list, to me, was incredible. I've been to many a PJ show, but this one takes the cake and the ice cream and whatever else you want to throw out there.

    Best ever.

and to all my friends that I was lucky to catch up with again, Aunt Cheryl :) you made my year woman!!

uconndave, lab & purple and PJammin' - I had the BEST time. I wish we could do it every night of the week. You guys ROCK!

Cats, I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to chat, but it was nice seeing you again - in the ladies room everytime! :)
  • What an amazing show... I hadn't originally planned on going... I didn't know I'd be in NYC this week.

It was 4pm and I was in Manhattan... had an awful day and a 5:30 meeting canceled. I was 5 blocks from Penn Station, so I jumped on a train to Philly. Didn't have a ticket... just knew I needed a PJ show and was gonna do my best to get in.

I got to Philly, made my way to the subway where I found myself staring at the most confusing map ever, trying to figure out where I was going. This guy in a suit turns to ask me something and I said "don't ask me, I'm from NYC". He said "Me too... I'm just trying to figure out how to get to the PJ show".

Turns out, this new friend of mine (Matt) was going to meet a friend who had an extra ticket (Mich!) Great seats... Went from a really bad day to a really good day just like that!

Amazing show... Hard To Imagine was incredible!!!

  • if that isn't one of the best set lists i ever seen pearljam play i dont know what is. I was in the very last row up top in row 15 but that didnt matter at all. The show was just amazing.... i dont know what it is about being indoors either ? is it me or does the sound seem way better than it did at the tweeter center back in 2003.

i hope everyone in the great city of philadelphia had a great time. I sure as hell did.

    Peace
  • understood and agreed. however, the band was in a very festive mood and it showed. the crowd was either stunned by what was being played or oblivious b/c they were waiting for Daughter but listening to a song that probably sounded like 'A Crowd of Whores' …

I tend to think the crowd was stunned by what they were hearing.

this setlist was legendary. nothing even comes close. heck, I even had the perfect beer break opportunity when they decided to play, yet again my fav (not), Even Flow.

True, even flow is kinda played - but, like some other "HITS", hearing it live is usually pretty cool with different solos and stuff. And the Evenflow played on Monday featured a pretty sick little Drum Solo at the end...as always PJ knows how to keep things interesting.

Beer breaks at PJ shows are tough...I think I chose to go during Green Disease and Blood
