I live near the NH border now, but I was born in Bangor & lived in E. Millinocket when I was young… so, can I place a vote for Penobscot county as well?
I believe there are a few people from up north that have posted on this thread. Mainers can drive anywhere in any condition so whether its north or south we will all be there."If Hope Could Grow From Dirt Like Me, It Can Be Done."0 -

I think ME vs. MA people are like squabbling siblings who piss each other off, but also always have each other’s back in times of need.Aug. 05, 2016 - Fenway Park, Boston

Katahdin teaches you to show some respect. That's for damn sure. No way I'd even try it at 74.I SAW PEARL JAM0 -

Just hiked it in July, been there many times, its less elevation than Mt. Washington, but like us locals say, "you don't see people selling t-shirts at the summit."

Hard to imagine climbing Katahdin at 74. A group of us tried to do knifes edge this year for the first time. We were really close to the tree line when this crazy storm came through, pouring rain and a 20 degree temperature drop in all of a minute. We all huddled under one of the last trees on one of the steepest parts of the trail. After a few minutes, the trail turned into a stream and we decided it was time to turn around. It was pretty sketchy for a while.9/13/1998 - 9/15/1998 - 8/29/2000 - 7/2/2003 - 7/3/2003 - 7/11/2003 - 9/28/2004 - 9/28/2005 - 5/13/2006 - 5/27/2006 - 6/1/2006 - 6/28/2008 - 6/30/2008 - 5/17/2010 - 10/25/20130 -

My dad still insists that he will climb the mountain one more time before he dies. He was lucky that he made it to a campsite with lean-to’s before dark, he ended up spending a very cold night in an outhouse listening for bears. He’s Vietnam vet, pretty tough for an old guy.Aug. 05, 2016 - Fenway Park, Boston
