Yeah they were going to play at the Cumberland county fair grounds back in 96, but they town voted now because they didn't like the titles for the tracks on Vitaolgy. I remember the news did a story about it.
Oh, them old farts should just stick to their bingo games and let the youngsters have some fun. I think that Maine folks have loosened up a bit over the last decade and a half - first giving rights to homosexuals and now legalizing marijuana in Portland. Times they are a changin'

As well as York, Cumberland & other counties in the southern section of the state. We need to hear from the great white north!

I live near the NH border now, but I was born in Bangor & lived in E. Millinocket when I was young… so, can I place a vote for Penobscot county as well?

I believe there are a few people from up north that have posted on this thread. Mainers can drive anywhere in any condition so whether its north or south we will all be there.

You got that right about Maine drivers! But when we drive in Massachusetts, do those people intentionally try to run us off the road when they see our ME plates?!

I think ME vs. MA people are like squabbling siblings who piss each other off, but also always have each other’s back in times of need.

Ayuh, I know Millonowhere all to well. My folks live there & my 74 year old dad had to be rescued by helicopter off Katahdin a couple of months ago. He’s fine, just foolish – typical Mainer.

Katahdin teaches you to show some respect. That's for damn sure. No way I'd even try it at 74.

Just hiked it in July, been there many times, its less elevation than Mt. Washington, but like us locals say, "you don't see people selling t-shirts at the summit." 8-)

Hard to imagine climbing Katahdin at 74. A group of us tried to do knifes edge this year for the first time. We were really close to the tree line when this crazy storm came through, pouring rain and a 20 degree temperature drop in all of a minute. We all huddled under one of the last trees on one of the steepest parts of the trail. After a few minutes, the trail turned into a stream and we decided it was time to turn around. It was pretty sketchy for a while.

I climbed the mountain back when I was in my early 20’s, but I couldn't get very far up these days… I stick to the foot trails where you run across an occasional moose or deer, but you don’t have to stumble over loose boulders.

My dad still insists that he will climb the mountain one more time before he dies. He was lucky that he made it to a campsite with lean-to’s before dark, he ended up spending a very cold night in an outhouse listening for bears. He’s Vietnam vet, pretty tough for an old guy.
