Wow. I think that was a pretty damn good finale after the 2 ridiculous episodes that came before it. I'm so happy it didn't turn into Carrie and Brody on the run. Looks like Nazir had a master plan all along. Crazy.
well i think they redeemed themselves as best they could after about a month of sub par and unrealistic episodes.
also glad they didn't go with brody and carrie on the run for next season.
at first i thought saul was speaking in muslim at the end but it was hebrew like he did in a previous episode. he'll probably side with carrie that brody was not involved with the bomb.
i was growing impatient for the for the first half hour. thinking about writing this show off and then the bomb went off.......interesting ending. didn't see it coming. gotta respect that.
my fios guide said it was supposed to be a 130 minute episode--my brother texted me right around 11 and asked if it was really 2 hours. i said yes, 2 seconds later the show ended. :x

Mine too, I watched the first 45 minutes after the Patriots game and started falling asleep, so I re-watched and thought it was going to be two hours. What Saul was saying at the end is the Kaddish, which is the Jewish prayer for the dead.
I was thinking when that bomb went off, what if Nazir really didn't die and he just had a body double get killed? I guess that's possible given some of the other things we've seen so far.

I've seen that body double thing mentioned a couple places. I'm sure the CIA did plenty of tests to confirm that the body was really Nazir's. They're not going to assume it is Nazir just based on the dude's face.

That's true, though if they can show the VP not having any security when brody kills him, perhaps they can write something in that allows Nazir to skirt the testing and fool the CIA. Also what's the deal with Carrie with calling him Brody? To me, the fact that his wife and girlfriend never use his first name is bizarre.

True....keeping it realistic hasn't been a strength of the show this season. ALthough I do think that really was Nazir. He was willing to sacrifice himself for the bigger attack to go down. With Nazir dead, it seemed like the CIA kinda let its guard down for an awful attack like that to happen.
I always thought it was weird that everyone called him by his last name. I think the only person who used his first name was Nazir. He always called him 'Nicholas'. I think the VP called him Nick too. Other than that, everyone called him Brody.

That's an interesting contrast, one guy is the guy he's torn about and the other is someone he hates and winds up killing even if it was for saving Carrie.

Same here. I was getting a little antsy watching the clock and wondering what the hell was going to happen. Great 2nd half of that episode.
The one thing I did wonder is how Carrie and Brody got out of the building with no one seeing them?
probably the same way he was allowed to stand in the VP's office and yell a terrorists name without anyone noticing.
I wonder if quinn is the terrorist responsible for the bombing. Maybe he didn't kill brody because he needed him alive so that he could frame him. Theory makes a lot of sense.
also, why does everyone call brody by his last name? even his wife and kids. not sure if that means anything in regards to the story, but it's weird to me.
The VP wife also called him Nick in the last episode isntead of Brody.
Perhaps it is almost a nickname that his close family and friends use?
I enjoyed season 2. It seems a lot of folks compalining about it. I guess i just have lower expetations for the show. It entertained i just had to turn off my "that is not how it would really happen" and enjoy the drama. I love the little moments between Brody and his Daughter, Brody and his Wife, Saul and Carrie, Carrie and Brody. To me those are the ones that make the show great not necesarily the why was the VP without security.

i remember reading that it is a marine thing....but then mike is a marine too and they call him mike. so i don't know.
kind of agree with your 2nd point too. the acting is pretty fucking good even if the plot twists were hard to swallow at times. but i had high expecations only because season 1 was incredible. my expectations will be a little lower next year after the 2nd half of this season...even with the finale. entertaining as hell though.
My gripe about the finale is this. So they snuck out of the building and went on the run to Canada (correct me if I'm wrong, if so my whole theory is crap). That's got to be at least an 8 hour drive from DC (to Toronto at least), so 16+ hours Carrie is on the road, not to mention stopping to get the passports and all of that done. How in the hell is she going to explain where she has been for that entire time when 10 minutes before the bomb went off, she was in the room for the ceremony?

Saul wanted brody alive and it looks like he will be stepping into estes head role...so I think she will come clean to him and it will be swept under the rug
I was cracking up when he called her the smartest and dumbest person he has ever known
season 1 was better, but this is still a great show.

Yeah Saul is not stupid he is going to know right away. That conversation i assume happens episode one of season 3

Loved the scene with Quinn & Estes ("I kill the bad guys"), but now Quinn knows Brody is Muslim. Carrie doesn't know this, correct? When they were at the cabin, and he told her she already knows everything about him? Not to mention the Walden thing...
And I thought Dana was gonna ask to go to the memorial with Brody, when they were speaking while he was getting dressed. Also, this chick speaks like her jaw's been wired shut.
The scene of the shrouding/burial of Nazir...is that respect in death for people like him typical? And actually worthy of saying the Kaddish? Perhaps that's simply protocol, but it struck me as odd (and in another odd way, kind of...humane).
So anyone think Carrie came back to tell Saul she wants back in with the CIA, or that she's going to go off into the wild blue yonder with the guy that most everyone refuses to call by his first name?
I really enjoyed the finale, and I have enjoyed the whole season. The strength of the acting, direction, cinematography, etc has far outweighed any "plausibility" issues for me. The characters on the show have been well and thoughtfully developed, and as long as the characters stay in character, I don't have any issue suspending disbelief to enjoy the ride.
Quinn's scenes were really good, and set him up for a bigger role next season (yay!). I loved his sitting out in the cold by himself eating whatever cold food out of a can, juxtaposed with Brody and Carrie's warm intimacy in the firelight in the cabin. Beautifully done. And finally his decision to spare Brody, mostly for Carrie's sake, but also to honor their end of the deal with Brody, shows him to be honorable and thoughtful. It will be interesting to see if he believes Brody responsible for the attack and therefore feels extreme guilt, or if he will be open minded and work with Carrie to find out the truth. Quinn's scene with Estes was priceless and I'm sure won Rupert Friend more than a few new fans.
Carrie knew that Brody is Muslim - he told her the first weekend at the cabin. I think she didn't tell the rest of the CIA, though.
Saul said the Kaddish at the bomb scene. I think it was a Muslim prayer that the imam said at the sea burial of Nazir.
I think Carrie came back to work with Saul, because he will need the help rebuilding/running the CIA, and to clear Brody and catch those responsible for the bombing and the resulting destruction of her beloved and her hopes of a relationship with him. Lots of possibilities for next season. Carrie will be keeping a lot of secrets. How will that affect their relationship? Whose side will Quinn take? Will Dar Adal be back?

Hmm, so if you call him by his first name you wind up dead, eh.

you might have a point about them knowing if he's muslim or not. i guess i kind of assuemd carrie knew but he left out the part where him and nazir prayed a few episodes back.
we did the same burial at sea for bin laden.
she's telling him she's staying the cia. i think she will tell him the truth about what happened and they will both work to find the people responsible (i still think its al queda) and, as a result, clear brody's name...of this at least.
IQuinn's scene with Estes was priceless and I'm sure won Rupert Friend more than a few new fans.
i think it's one of the best scense of the entire series so far. i love the way they shot it too with the wide angle and quin's sort of in the shadows. not zooming in for a close up enhanced the creepiness.
quinn's character is a lot more interesting to me after watching the finale.

Oh yeah it was masterfully done - the closer shot only came at the end, making it much more powerful when Quinn stood up, Estes noticed the gun, and Quinn threatened him.

I'm pretty sure Carrie knows that Brody is muslim. The episode from last year what they were at the cabin and he let her interrogate him, she asked him what he is always doing in his garage and he told her that he was praying. I'm pretty sure he then admitted he was muslim.
Saul will definitely put it together that Carrie helped Brody disappear. WIth a big part of the CIA wiped out by the attack, Saul and Carrie will pretty much be running the show at the CIA by the time next season starts. Can't wait.

I doubt it. The first 2 seasons both started around September/October. They'd have to start filming soon if it were to be spring. Pretty sure Claire Danes is pregnant right now too.

also, why does everyone call brody by his last name? even his wife and kids. not sure if that means anything in regards to the story, but it's weird to me.

Other than that, I did enjoy the finale.

Couple things:
Hmm, so if you call him by his first name you wind up dead, eh.
you might have a point about them knowing if he's muslim or not. i guess i kind of assuemd carrie knew but he left out the part where him and nazir prayed a few episodes back.
we did the same burial at sea for bin laden.
she's telling him she's staying the cia. i think she will tell him the truth about what happened and they will both work to find the people responsible (i still think its al queda) and, as a result, clear brody's name...of this at least.
i think it's one of the best scense of the entire series so far. i love the way they shot it too with the wide angle and quin's sort of in the shadows. not zooming in for a close up enhanced the creepiness.
quinn's character is a lot more interesting to me after watching the finale.

Yeah i've been looking and i've only seen it on that one site and i'm calling bullshit
