Not to mention some of those draftees might play for the Flyers at some point, and they'll have the sound of those boo birds in the back of their heads while giving the obligatory "we have the best fans" line every player gives in interviews.

Super cool of the fans.... super depressing over all, because he's dying. :( Many fond memories of watching Gino play. Everyone loved him. This sucks. X_X I teared up when he released that letter. Fuck.

On another note, Canucks grab Ryan Miller, UFA.... $18 million for 3 years?? Wow. He better get a good streak going immediately and never lose it.

  • ^^ remember when you had 2 good goalies and were not sure what to do? How quickly it goes from there to Eddie Lack between the pipes and overpaying for a guy whose prime is behind him. I like Miller as a player/person and hope he does well. (I loathe the Sedins though so am going to have to continue to root against the Canucks until those 2 devils are gone.)

Miller sucks ass. He lets in softees and body language show up his teammates. He is also uncoachable because he thinks he knows it all.
His positioning is decent which earns him the reputation. Athletically and mentally he is well below average.

There is a reason nobody came to his aid when Lucic railroaded him.

Vancouver fans/media will eat him alive.

Sabres had a good day for the rebuild. Got Gorges and Gionta out of Montreal to be a good influence in the lockerroom. Got Moulson back for 5 years. Signed Mezaros for a year so they can keep Zadorov and Ristolainen developing in the minors this year. Also re-upped Foligno for 2 years as a bridge deal.

Whats going on with the redwings ... they used to be the place many free agents wanted to go, instead they were rejected 4 times yesterday ... yikes ... and forcing them to overpay for Quincey, imo.

I have wondered that as well. How depressing on resigning Quincey

Is it the city? Is it the perceived youth movement? Is it Babcock?

The Flyers thread had the same report and I posted there that we all know these guys are not winning any awards for intellectual capacity....but sometimes you just have to shake your head and laugh.

I wonder if it's Babcock's contract situation ... it looks like he'll coach the final year without and extension. So I wonder if free agents don't want to sign with that uncertainty. Personally I'm not so sure Babcock will be back after this season ... he is a unique coach having a degree from McGill, you have to wonder if he will be looking for more challenges, maybe management somewhere, maybe even University. I just find it odd that if he was planning on staying the contract would have be done before free agency ... oh us sports fans its fun to speculate.

The Canucks fell apart so badly when that idiot Gillis fired Vigneault and our two great goalies were given away. So pissed off.

The only way Seattle should get a team is if a franchise is failing and needs to be moved ... but Quebec city deserves a franchise long before they put a team in Seattle. That being said I think they'll expand by 2 teams in the west to balance the conferences ... which could leave Quebec waiting a while. All adding more teams will do is water the NHL down that much more.

What do you mean by "deserves"? There are already enough teams over there. I think the northwest really needs one.

Well yeah, of course. But that is a LOT of money to be spending on a goalie unless he's a superstar.

I guess it depends ... if they think they can win with just a little tinkering to the lineup, then this was a signing that makes sense. If they don't think they can win and he's a stop gap during the rebuild then probably a bad signing.

Because even after the novelty wears off Quebec fans will continue to support their team. They didn't lose their 1st team from lack of support ... they lost the team due to NHL economics out of wack. Will Seattle support their team once the novelty wears off? Probably doesn't matter, they'll likely get one at some point.
