Should had been a 3-2 series lead for the Rangers. Refs gave the Kings life twice.

    Nice call Dr!
Kings earned this. Any team that wins 3 game 7s and three finals games in OT is deserving.
Props to rangers that was a couple of opportunistic saves or goals from being a Stanley Cup.

If Quick had to face the Kings offense it would had been a 4 game sweep all regulation wins.

Long season is over, congrats to the kings. And a nice FUCK U to the refs. I hope you guys seriously lose your jobs for the way you guys called these games. It shouldn't be about the refs but they sure made it about them.

    congrats to the kings.

three OT loses for the rangers, brutal and numbing. you can spend hours playing the what if game but that will only drive a sane ranger fan insane.

man what another great playoff run. playoff hockey is fucking awesome. and playoff hockey puts the notion that you need tough guys and fighting in the sport. Congrats to the Kings. incredible what they did to win the Cup. down 3-0, 3 game 7s and 3 overtime games in the Finals. crazy. just goes to show you how difficult wining a title is.

Yup, flyers west beat the team that beat your "real" flyers. Hell of a series.

Kings made a sick run. Hate to say it but huge for the nhl. I think the game got like a 10.2 rating in la which is unheard of for hockey there. If most of those people kept At it for both overtimes they had to have enjoyed it

The Kings run was one of the most enjoyable, memorable ones for me since '93 and Montreal's incredible 10 overtime wins. The Kings winning 3 games 7's on the road, open the finals and fall behind 2-0 both at home and 3 overtime wins in the final ... just a great run. And this team has taken on the work ethic of their head coach. They deserve this championship and I can see them dominating the west for while ... more than Chicago. They seem built for the playoffs.

Was glad the Kings finished it off in game 5. Any longer and this Celtics fan would have had to acknowledge it was Laker fans in those seats!

LA and NY are tough towns to choose between, rivalry wise. But Quick is a fellow UMass alumni so that made it easier.

Already miss playoff hockey! It really is the best.

  • I have been pleased to hear from many occasional hockey watchers how much they enjoyed the playoffs this year. Hopefully this was a step in the right direction for the league as far as regaining some footing in the US popular spotlight. The sports scene used to be 'The Big 4' and it really had become 'The Big 3' the last 10 years.

This ocassional hockey watcher agrees. The product has been very entertaining these last few years. The playoffs are close to perfect, far more riveting than anything MLB has presented in years. The Olympic tournaments have been great fun. I know many disagree but I do enjoy Doc Emerick and the presentation on NBC. That it is both the same for the Olympics and the league gives a continuity that the NBA and Olympic basketball lacks.

I still the NFL playoffs are the best but hockey is steadily climbing the ladder.

  • Hey Quick this isn't the bronze medal game where you and your sucky US team don't want to turn up and play. Maybe you should rethink that theory next time as it seems to have a lasting effect on people like you and those two bums who play on Toronto.

I am very sorry for throwing Mr. Quick under the bus so early in the playoffs. Man did he show up to play game four of the first series and all the games after that. Shame on me. Even had the Kings in the playoff pool and couldn't guess the right Eastern team.

  • I wonder how Danny Bylsma feels right now after taking a giant shit on his Alternate Captain Dustin Brown during the Olys...stick it Danny! :)

When they went back to the league DB got fired and Captain Brown raised the Cup for the 2nd time in 3 years.

(Yes I realize Brown is hated by most of the league and that perhaps DB was justified in sitting him...this is me being a Kings fan and telling one of our ex players to go and take a shit in his hat. He who laughs last laughs best!)

Sounds like Kesler is going to Anaheim. Was hoping he'd somehow end up with the Hawks. Should be a lot of trade action with the draft tonight. Also read that the cap is only supposed to be $68M which will cause problems for a lot of teams.

Sabres at #2. Most people want/expect FLA to take Ekblad and Reinhart to Buffalo.

Im thinking Vancouver trades to #1, takes Reinhart, Buffalo takes Ekblad, then tries to flip Myers or Pysyk + #31 to Edmonton for #3.

If the cap is only $68 million, that is bad news for the Hawks. They'd have to shed salary. Could mean Sharp, Seabrook, and/or Oduya could be gone.

I love the Buffalo draft of Reinhart, Lemieux, and Cornel. Dunno anything about the Czech fella.

Also bought out Ehrhoff, which is big down the road. If they traded him and he retired early they would be on the hook for a giant recapture penalty against the cap.

I thought the fans in Philly were dumb and unfunny booing everything. It got really old during Bettman's address, but the silver lining is they wont ever get a draft again.

Bettman will need to move the draft to LA if he doesn't want to get booed. I still remember his look of astonishment when he heard cheers the first time he walked the cup out in LA.

He will get booed, but the continuous for the entire address was dumb. Then the booing of everything the rest of the night was classless and stupid, but I wasn't really surprised. Would have been nice to see Gino Odjick get an ovation as well, but nobody in the crowd probably had any clue who he is. It was how annoying Jets fans are at the NFL draft x100

Why even attend a draft if you just boo everything but the Flyers? Did those people even care about the 1st round or the excitement around a lot of the players/prospects outside of the little corner of SE PA? I guess thats the difference between Philly and a real hockey city.

It's Philly, what would you expect from an organization loved by our own 81!?!? =))
