PJ 20 Book - Where's Abbruzzese?

Back in the day, Dave was prolly my favorite member (stupid things we do when we are young, we pick our favorite band member..LOL) I really liked the fact that he was the only one who had a PJ tatoo, and loved him even more when he played drums at MTV Unplugged wearing his RATS sweatpants. I remember I simply loved the message he was sending, like, we are doing TV but we are not sold out...He loved being in the band this I am sure ....BUT.................................................
I think it's just crazy. There is no reason for the book/movie to cover thorougly why Dave A (Krusen or Matt Chamberlain) was fired. There might be many reasons, but the LEGAL ones, to me, they are already enough. They wouldn't be able to say anything about it without having to give Dave A the right to tell HIS side of the story. IMHO, totally lame if they did, would totally ruin the pj20 celebration spirit. Also, we all know what happened, what's so important to hear that from one of the members mouth. He was fired, he and Ed didn't get alone very well. Stone was chosen to give him the bad news, was not easy for anyone. Period.
Regarding MIke's battle against drugs. We already know the most important...HE'S WON!
People are missing out way too much if they think just because these "details" are not mentioned they have no reason whatsoever to read the book or watch PJ20. Their loss!0 -
ok you're both right:
from the all knowing wikipedia: "Glorified G" is an anti-gun song with lyrics mocking gun enthusiasts. The song was inspired by an incident in which drummer Dave Abbruzzese told the band he had just bought two guns which sparked a conversation about guns within the band. Vocalist Eddie Vedder about "Glorified G":
I didn't actually write that song...I was at a band rehearsal and just started writing down these things the guys were talking about. The band were having this conversation and I just took down the dialogue. One of the band members had just bought a gun. It was the drummer, actually. Ask him about it.[5]
Abbruzzese about "Glorified G":
I told our manager that I just bought a coupla guns and he told Jeff, and at rehearsal Jeff kinda blurted it out. And Eddie went, 'Whaaaat, you bought a GUN?' And I said, 'In fact, I bought two,' which ended up as the opening line of the song. I think it's fair to say Eddie was pretty outraged.[5]

Trying to give Dave writing credits for a song in which a quote he said was used in? Talk about a stretch...
Here's three for you...   check your facts next time. He didn't write shit, he got quoted and then clowned... and then he got fired. Get over it. Actually maybe you can start the Dave A. fan club... you can be the president.0 -

Krusen speaks about his departure in the book, dont know about Chamberlain, i think he was just filling in as a temp regardless. Like I said before I would bet that Dave sued Pearl Jam and got a settlement which included an NDA, so we will never know the details of what really truly happened...0 -

I agree with wishing there was more with Dave at that time period in the movie/book. Wether or not he was anyones favorite drummer or not, he was there so it should they should have included him. He was there for a time period and omitting most of it or not including it is like on telling a partial story. If you are telling a historical account then it should include him for that part of it. Hopefully the extras in the BluRay include that.
Kind of like saying that hansel and grettle were eaten thats it! No crumbs, no candy house, no fattening up just a witch ate them.
Again noone will know if there is a NDA or not just wishing there was more of Dave
And yes I am happy we have Matt now no other drummer would fit right atmSpringfield MA 94, Hartford CT 960 -

Wow.
The only thing amazing here is you clinging onto a fired band member like he is responsible for the success of the band. I mention MOST, MOST of the first two albums were already written before Dave came along, then you quote the line of the song sarcastically giving credit to Krusen. Implying he didnt write it, Dave did. Comments about reading comprehension will be ignored since his example had nothing to do with my point. Why bring it up to begin with when I just said MOST, not ALL... wait, I know the answer... swinging... back and forth.
Good luck with the fan club.0 -

Enough with the talk of non disclosure agreements. He talks about plenty of stuff in the book five against one. Dave is gonna say anything anymore probably in hopes of somehow plAying with the band again someday.
Ps. Solarworld, you get to worked up about this nonsense, way to defensive. You come of as a pearl jam apologist. I don't care what you say, Dave was very important to this band. So was jack and so is Matt. To say he isn't is to say the other drummers were faceless employees as well.0 -

I knew it wouldn't happen, but I was day-dreaming about seeing EVERY PJ drummer do a song at PJ20.
I think the story of Pearl Jam Drummers would make a great book on it's own.
Matt Cam is great, and as he was on the original demos, I basically accept him as THE definitive PJ drummer.
I like Dave A., and forgive him for his stupid mistakes and hard-headed approach. He wasn't "wrong" at the time, but it was clear that he was on a different wave-length than the rest of the band as a whole. I think that the post Dave A albums are spectacular and wouldn't have happend with him. Just my opinion.
I thought that it was a low blow for him to list his MTV Moonman award on ebay during the PJ20 weekend. That was pretty low class.Michael James McCabe

coco butter wrote:What's the story behind this special guitar to Ed that he broke? I've been following the band for almost 20 years and never heard this one. Please indulge...
Here we go, I typed it for you
Page 148 of PJ20 book...
Brendan O'Brien: I remember the very last day I saw Dave. He was at the studio in Atlanta, and we were taking a break from Vitalogy. Eddie was having a hard time figuring out how to get his guitar sound going. I knew he was a big Pete Townshend fan so I went and found him a beautiful gold-top '69 Les Paul. He came to the studio on one of the last nights we were there, and I said, "Hey, I got you something." He didn't know what to say. He really was about to cry. He and I at that time did not have a great relationship, but this was a really nice moment between us.
The next day, I see engineer Nick DiDia shaking his head. He goes, "Dude, you have to figure something out." Dave was running around because he had to leave early to do something. He says to me, "I knocked this guitar over. I'll pay to have it fixed." He'd knocked the headstock off. It was a complete and total accident. I remember saying "Maybe you should hang around and talk to Eddie about it." But he's like "I've gotta go." Eddie came later, and I showed him the guitar. The look on his face was one of such contempt. I'll never forget it. I felt so bad. Right after that, Kurt died. We were supposed to get back together and finish, but we took a long break. They didn't tour. Everyone was thrown for a loop. During that time, Dave was fired. I don't know that Eddie can ever really look at that guitar the same way. I had it repaired for him beautifully, but it was sort of a metaphor for their relationship. And that was not lost on Nick and I.PJ: Sydney, 11th February 2003 ♥ Sydney, 26th January 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 20th March 2011 ♥ EV: Perth, 7th February 2014 ♥ EV: Perth, 8th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 11th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 12th February 2014 ♥ EV: Sydney, 13th February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 22nd February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 23rd February 2014 ♥ EV: Brisbane, 25th February 2014 ♥
