Since I am of a certain age, I found myself drawn to the Slate article on Harry Nilsson: http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/cult ... ennon.html

And I am listening to "Jump Into the Fire" on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QghwNqlCRE

My parents had Nilsson Schmilsson; it is one of my earliest aural memories. I am posting this in the Glen Hansard thread because I think Glen Hansard just might be the person who could cover a Harry Nilsson song and really do it justice.

I think he has sometime previously?
    Did he write dolphins?
I'm not in any way familiar with Nilson.
I'll ask him later and find out.

The big deal is glen is supporting uncle Bruce this Saturday in ireland
Someone said its the first time in a long time Bruce has had any support act
    It's gonna be special:)

He actually had Jamie N Commons open for him about a month ago in Holland. A great artist btw, with an amazing voice.

Awesome gig. The frames then Bruce. I don't know where he gets the energy from. But getting to see glen up there with him was a surreal but brilliant experience. So happy for him :)

Songs are great but with this band your better having them in context.
Get these albums in this order(this is also a reverse chronology)
Setlist- their live record and also serves as a frames 'greatest hits'. This record effing rocks
For the birds-the frames masterpiece for many
Dance the devil-a ton of great rock songs and beautiful quiet ones
    Fitzcarraldo-a balls out rock record

The other swell season/glen solo stuff, you can kind of get into in any order. Rhythm and repose and Strict joy are essential. The self titled swell season record is good but the two I've just mentioned are better for my ears.

You'll end up getting them all if you just get setlist and for the birds:)

Enjoy and let us know about your progress.

Thanks for this - I will try and check out Setlist asap 8-)

What city/town were you in? Was it an announced show, or just a cool last minute thing?
