Yeah, I would imagine it's probably a watch. Wait, something was poorly written on Philly.com? Shocking.

That is absurd then. We are 48 hours away and the thing hasn't even made landfall yet. It could go in so many different directions.

but it's so wide that even if it heads to 50 miles out to sea it's going to impact as far as the city of philadelphia. it's just a massive storm.

Oh no doubt, it's a huge storm and is going to be destructive no matter what, I just think it is very early to issue a warning in this area. We'll see though. There will definitely be flooding, especially with the rain the past week or so.

I hear you. It's going to be bad, no need to argue it. My amateur meterologist skills tell me we will not get hit with hurricane force winds though.

What's funny is that we're listening to so called "experts" who couldn't predict accurate snow fall amounts last year. People should prepare but the media is causing people to freak out over this. (at least from what I saw at stop and shop thi morning)

i think the meteorologists are in on it. its a ploy to boost the economy. scare the shit outta people and they'll go buy a bunch of shit they probably dont need.

but there is always that slim chance that they may possibly be right, and then your totally screwed if you have no food or other absolutely necessary items.

My little coastal town usually gets a battering in any kind of storm involving wind and tide surges.

    *sigh*

Mr. Unlost is in "the bunker" with the state emergency management agency people.

I went to the grocery store this morning. As part of hurricane preparedness I bought the following:

    6 cage-free organic eggs
1 container reduced sugar orange juicelike beverage
    4 pears
    4 peaches
    2 packages blueberries
    1 package turkey hot dogs
1 package chicken sausages (apple flavor)
    1 package hotdog buns
1 package whole grain English muffins

I briefly considered a box of cinnamon Pop Tarts, but decided that would be buying into hysteria.

Then I walked into the adjacent Target, where people were buying propane bottles, cold packs and batteries. I walked past a display of flashlights, and thought, "Nawww." And instead I bought a teddy bear.

When I got home, I had overlooked the single most important thing, which prompted a panicked text to Mr. Unlost: "Please pick up beer on the way home"

That's absolutely correct, if he doesn't pick up the right kind of beer.

    raspberry poptarts
    Schneider cheddar pretzels
    gummy bears
    raisinetts
    bread
    PB&J
gold fish (the economy size in case we really do get it that bad, that should last at least 3 days)

    Vitamin Waters

I'll be stopping for beer and liquor on the way home. The herb has been stocked.

Philly, New York, Boston are not towns used to or ready for a major hurricane. with the winds and amount of major water ways surrounding these areas the water surge could have disasterous results. i live about 70 miles from the coast and my area has been issued a hurricane warning. they are talking one of the 3 biggest and most damaging storms EVER in the eastern United States. We are looking at days and possibly weeks without power and communications should this hit as bad as they are saying. over 55 MILLION people are going to be affected by this storm. 55 MILLION. think about that number.

    be safe and smart everyone.
