I take great offense to that and how can you defend that?

maybe he's mentally ill? maybe we shouldn't judge him too harshly without knowing all the facts.

    1) Not really your business and entirely off topic making this thread about me... why again :?
the poster quoted me ...clearly said "you" to me and admitted his words were mean spirited.

    2) You are directing posts to me about my conduct.... this gets threads locked

    3) please do not read my posts in the future if this is a possibility cause it is not fair to others who want to discuss

    4) stay on topic please

    1) not my business? you opened the door by bringing them up. I was merely asking how gay people you know would feel about your stance. I'm sorry, is that offensive?

    2) I didn't make it about YOU. YOU MAKE IT ABOUT YOU, which is exactly what I stated before. I asked a follow up question based on a statement you made. if you don't want to answer it, that's fine, but bringing something and then refusing to elaborate is a childish game. (remember the "I have a secret but I can't tell you" from 4th grade? that's what that is)

    3) gimme a break. if you don't want people to read your posts, don't post them.

    4) I haven't strayed from the topic once. look at the last page. who's not on topic?

preaching can be a wonderful thing when you open your heart to the words

I don't go to church but have listened to some wonderful preachers

they can grab your heart and give you hope

rile you up and set you down gently... it's an art really

I love it but then I love words all tangled up and beautiful :D

    stay on topic.

    stay on topic.

    Me-- Busted!

    Back to topic:

Ok, so we can't agree on what to do with this guy (like anyone outside PJ forum cares what we say anyway) but I'd at least like to think the arguments in favor of this...um... guy... are more about it being ok or not ok to say this or that. In any case, surely there are no true homophobics here, right? Right?????

not that anyone is admitting. the ones pro this guy are standing behind a free speech argument. which, as pointed out before, in the opinion of many, has no merit.

In that case, all I can hope for is that closet homophobics examine their own thoughts and words.

I don't get the feeling that anyone defending this guy is actually a homophobe or agree with any of the content of his rant. I think it's purely to them about his rights.

    Bringing what up? :?

Its not your business because I was talking to another poster who clearly was rude to me

I really don't care what you think about that because we were not talking to you

I didn't see a question I didn't answer.. if it is on topic then I will answer

I don't want people to read my posts if they are going to reply in a mean spirited manner
I've said this before... ignore me please... that is what the mods suggest and I will gladly do the same.
I will attempt to take the high road... it works well but I see many are not interested in keeping peace
even when the mods have asked it of them.

This is off topic right now and unfriendly

a fellow poster provided a fun video for me to watch... sorry that is off topic

I didn't think anyone here in our conversation hates gays...maybe I missed something :?

for me this is about the
right to voice one's opinion and changing the rules that keep others from being able to do
that for fear of losing their job
    I feel that is wrong

The teacher could have been someone who hates women... as an example was made....
    and ranting about women

I would still defend his right to speak

yes but misses my point entirely

my employee was not mentally ill either

health issues can cause out of character actions

I don't feel that would be a logical reason in this case of interaction
    that you are suggesting though

I do feel IF this is out of character for the teacher
who has been honored admired and loved for 22 years

it could be a very logical reason for a sudden hate
and rant even though it would jeopardize his future standing
amongst the community and at the school. . . also his livelihood.

it was ... it was about religion... a related issue to the teacher and his rant
