actually i think it was cause he did the same thing earlier...beat the shit out of his girlfriend. he did it in like '04 and got kicked out for it6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -
I dont understand slot of people were praising Dave Grohl on another thread for singling someone out of the crowd. But because Josh does it it's wrong. Makes no sense. I'm sorry I think this Is part of the problem in today's society. People need to grow some skin and not let words get under it. It's not s perfect world and never will be (unfortunately). Ther Is always going to be some a-hole who says the wrong thing. Just remember sticks and stones may break my bones but WORDS will never hurt me. I don't know maybe I'm just old school. Sorry if I offended anyone.
And yes QOTSA will be the second best show you will see that weekend (IMO) and I can't wait. To see my two favorite bands on the same stage.0 -
Oh and Josh kicked Nick out in '04 for domestic abuse. He must not be that bad of a guy. To stand up for what he believes in.0
-
you guys have it all wrong. They kicked him out for the reasons stated and so that's a good thing..right? I've seen QOTSA 4 or 5 times and the band has been nothing but kind to the audience and really puts their back into their shows so you realllly don't need to worry about any "incidents." if you're respectful the band will be, plain and simple.0

Um...pretty far from something serious. I just threw this post out there for some people to see. I formed my opnion and that's all I can do you know? I won't be joing the audience in watching this band. Everyone has the right to do what they want.0 -
ok, so i read the article and watched all the videos the OP linked. the article has nothing to do with qotsa as previously mentioned, since nick has been out of the band for years.
the videos of josh homme, while profanity laced and over the top, i think he was mainly justified. if people are throwing stuff at him while on stage i think he is right in calling them out and this may not come out right, but i don't think he is using that language in a derogatory way about the peoples sexuality, he was just using them like a-hole or m-f-er because their actions were f'd up. make sense? if he meant to disparage the sexuality of people that he doesn't know at all then he's wrong, i just don't think that was the case and i have no issue with them being at PJ20. don't throw stuff at the band, i'd be pissed too.Randall's Island 9/29/96, Continental Arena 9/8/98, MSG 9/10/98, Jones Beach 8/23/00, 8/24/00, 8/25/00, Nassau Coliseum 4/30/03, MSG 7/8/03, 7/9/03, Continental Arena 6/1/06, 6/3/06, MSG 6/24/08, 6/25/08, Spectrum 10/30/09, 10/31/09, MSG 5/20/10, 5/21/10, PJ20 9/3/11, 9/4/11, Charlottesville 10/29/13, Charlotte 10/30/13, Global Citizen 9/26/15, Raleigh 4/20/16 :( Baltimore 3/28/20 :( Austin 9/18/23, 9/19/23, Forum 5/21/24, Baltimore 9/12/24, Fenway 9/17/24, Nashville 5/6/25, 5/8/250 -

Words can be more damaging than punches sometimes. And to march that kid down the aisle in front of thousands of people while berating him is pretty shitty.0 -

I'm hoping they get them! I found this today. This fucker below can charge 2000 devices at once!0 -
That video is unfortunate. I'm guessing the fans at PJ20 will not be giving Josh a hard time with insults or tossed items. Therefore, I do not expect any issues. Hell, he may be upset with the crowd for not being into it, as I'm guessing everybody will be ready for PJ to hit the stage.
I don't know if Ed has ever had a moment quite like the one Josh Homme had here. Was it '03 when Ed mentioned the "mosquito bites" of the girl flashing the band? I know he's gotten after security a little bit on occasion, but I've never seen him lose it as violently as Homme does here. I don't expect artists to put up with having shit thrown at them, but Homme's reaction is pretty unfortunate.1998: 6/26, 6/27, 6/29

Agree with this point.
Whether he was calling him "homo", "fag", or whatever is kinda beside the point. I don't think he was saying those things in a sexual context or to offend the kid from a sexual perspective. Kind of the same thing as people using the "N" word when they see someone acting a certain way, regardless of the person's race. I don't condone any of those words or defend Josh's particular actions, but I think he was just trying to act tough and show how pissed he was more than anything. Could've been handled MUCH BETTER - he could have just pointed him out to security, and had him escorted out...or simply had security zone in on that area and have them nab anyone throwing stuff. Berating the kid for a couple of minutes and bringing that much attention to him definitely could have ended up with someone else in the crowd with even more built up anger and testosterone beating the crap out of the kid, whether Josh was really going to or not.
That said, I like QOTSA. Haven't seen them live, and wouldn't mind, but can't see 'em in Vegas this time around, 'cause Soundgarden is playing another venue on the same night! Besides that, Them Crooked Vultures is way better than QOTSA...Osaka, Japan (2/21/95), San Diego (7/10/98), Las Vegas (10/22/00), San Diego (10/25/00), Las Vegas (6/6/03), Las Vegas (7/6/06), Los Angeles (7/9/06), VH1 Rock Honors (7/12/08), Ed Solo (7/8/11), Ed Solo (11/1/12), Los Angeles (11/23/13)0 -

Why do I have the feeling that the OP is actually the black haired kid from the first video!0

Josh's rant was ridiculous. Hope it made him feel tough. Then again, we all have bad moments, and he was obviously feeling like shit and maybe not thinking entirely clear.
Doesn't matter to me though, since I already think they are way overrated and will probably not catch their full set if any at all.hippiemom = goodness0 -
Because they're awesome.
And to re-re-re-re-iterate, Nick was kicked out of the band specifically for that sort of behavior. Stating "birds of a feather" isn't "just putting info out there." You're making baseless insinuations that are more offensive than impolite words that make you sad.0
