Keep clinging to the past America. Meanwhile the rest of the world will bypass you. It really is the bible thumpers and Republicans that hold America back. It's such a beautiful country. It's really too bad.

Edit: And doesn't the constitution have a bunch of amendments? If it was so great, why all the need for amendments?
    where are you?

The world is bypassing you for a bunch of reasons. Not just because you cling to your guns and freedoms. Not just because of your interventionist foreign policy. Not just because of your deregulation and corporate welfare. It's a combination of a lot of things. But I'd say mostly because of your crazy spending on needless wars overseas that only benefit corporations like Halliburton.

But keep going down the road you are...I love that when i go to PJ20 in september that for every 100 dollars I bring, I'll get an extra 5 bucks ;)

I said in an earlier post that we have our own gun problems. Just not nearly to the extent the U.S. does. We have way more regulation. And I'm pretty sure we have far fewer assault weapons. I'm also pretty sure it is illegal here to own those types of weapons. Either way, I know very few people who own guns here.

    Wrong again Gimme...

It doesn't change "as the people in our gov't see fit."

It changes as the PEOPLE see fit. Why do see our gov't as something separate from the people?

    We the people...

Government of the people, for the people, and by the people.

If you feel like Im picking at you, I'm not- but I'd like to get to the heart of your post that I quoted earlier in this thread regarding "Who gets to decide when people as a whole are ready to have guns"...

don't flame me.... it is a serious question...

if we don't ask serious questions, then there will be no contemplating the very root of the issues...

Your first sentence is why people like you are so dangerous. You don't understand your own rights, or history.
And you will consistently vote to undermine your own Constitution, and ultimately your own freedom- and probably don't even know you're doing it.

WHO THE FUCK GETS TO DECIDE WHEN "PEOPLE AS A WHOLE ARE READY" FOR ANYTHING?

The Constitution gives THE PEOPLE/ US the power, and to keep that power out of the hands of those you are suggesting we just hand it over to!!

    Think man!!

This is what I would like you to explain.

Good point. Those republicans and Bible thumpers really got us into this debt crisis and the illegal Libyan war. Things would be so great if not for them.

i am not getting into anything deep with you, except to say that you are wrong. the people can not make an amendment, it can only occur in the ways in the link i posted. through the government. and you are also wrong about the "government of the people...." quote. that was not in any founding document, it was one man's vision. abraham lincoln wrote those words in the gettysburg address, which took place 87 years after the declaration of independance...

and the question you are asking me is a rhetorical one. there is no definite answer right or wrong. but i suppose if you really want to settle it, have the people decide it in an election. those in government will never change anything because the gun lobby is too strong. i do believe that clearly, as a whole, human beings have not proven that they can handle the awesome power of possessing and operating firearms. in the scheme of things, guns do one thing. destroy things. whether it is a target, a clay pigeon, a real pigeon, or a human being. far too many people have died as a result of being on the wrong end of the barrel.

Lincoln still didn't take all guns away. he still wanted southern folk to have guns even after the war ended. America has guns, don't like it, leave. is that what it is coming down to?

i think most people are scared of guns because of tv, movies, and the inability to pick one up and figure out how to shoot the thing.

So what is the obsession with the constitution? You never answered that. Why focus on something form so long ago? My grandparents can barely work a remote control or figure out how to use a debit machine, let alone a cell phone. Why would I want to let people from so far back dictate what is right or wrong in todays society? Why are you so stuck clinging to the past?

it's common sense to protect yourself and loved ones, as well as others. guns are a tool used in this fashion.
most guns in this country sit in closets collecting dust.

  • So we need to penalize EVERYONE for their irresponsible actions? Why can't people be responsible?

that's the definition of law making, my friend. they are there to protect the responsible from the irreponsible.

see, there are laws against, say, driving too fast. why? because EVERYONE would drive too fast? nope, most people would drive a responsible speed. it's because we need to be protected from those that do.

typical response from you or blockhead. you can't handle someone who is respectfully disagreeing with you and actually presenting arguments and facts, so you have to resort to condesension and name calling. does it make you feel big?

how about you can this garbage and actually try to have a meaningful discussion.
