So nice to have another good option on FM radio in Chicago. This is nice to go along with XRT and The Drive.0

I'm loving the new station. I gave up on q101 years ago. I got tired of hearing the same top 10 90s songs over and over again. I'm glad they finally started playing decent new stuff. I need new music and q101 wasn't doing that.0

This happened a few weeks back, but apparently possibly the last indie/alt. radio station was sold. :(

I dunno, I don't really trust Merlin Media after they turned 101.1 into a news station. I haven't tried 87.7 yet.
You can still listen to Q101 online, there's just no DJs:

I also think they're broadcasting Q101 on 1530 AM, but I haven't tried listening to that yet.Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -

Really liking 87.7. Don't get it on the old ass radio in my old ass car, but it comes in in my fiance's car. Heard "Say Hello 2 Heaven" the other day....that was a very nice surprise.0 -

Yeah, but they play stuff that's really out there, not exactly "alternative"...I think I heard a Jamaican song on there the other day... :?Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -

As far as I know, Jamaican music isn't exactly mainstream..
There are exceptions where alternative artists cross over to a mainstream audience, but in general, alternative music has no real genre and is about the art rather than style.0 -
OK, first off, to anyone who has issues with XRT playing Steve Earle (at least I'm assuming that's what "copper head road" is referring to): they've been playing shit like that since forever.
Anyway, here's the reason I'm posting this. the #4 preset in one of our cars used to be Q101. It was switched over to 87.7, but sometimes when you press it, it still flips to 101.1. It's like the radio is haunted by the ghost of Q101.0 -
Well that talk radio experiment on 101.1 FM didn't last long....

Read that yesterday and was so angry I wanted to punch something...they should have just left Q101 alone...Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160
