I was planning on getting married this year, but if this happens, along with the cash I've already forked over for PJ20, and the subsequent beer money I will be consuming that weekend, I think I need to ask the future wifey to push the wedding into 2012. Wonder how that will go over...
I doubt they do a Canadian show, then come back and do one in the States.
I love how quickly some people can be so quick to dismiss things on here based on nothing other than what they think.
If Pearl Jam has taught us anything over the years it is that, for a band who goes so far out of their way to offset their carbon footprint, their touring logistics often leave you scratching your head.
That said, I had actually heard this rumour with this exact date about a week ago, so I am inclined to think that this will happen.
1996: Toronto
1998: Barrie

How dare I? It's fun to look at for 5 seconds and then you realize what it actually is. I don't care how old it is or how tall the wall is in left field. Its a garbage dump that would have horrible sound.
Not really, not anymore. It absolutely was in the 80's and 90's but since the Henry group bought the team they have poured tons of money into the park. Fenway has never looked better than it does today.
I am a Yankee fan but I would still go to Fenway to see PJ! I hope Theo can pull this off. I would much rather see them at Yankee Stadium, but I don't see that happening. It would kill their relationship with Theo.

Maybe some year they will play both and then we can spend the next decade arguing about who had the better shows!
It's comments like this that make it a bad idea for folks to wear a 10c-handle name tag to PJ20.
It is what it is. I would rather a show be anywhere else in Boston other then there.
I saw Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at Fenway Park in September 2003, and while the sound at Gillette Stadium a month earlier was better, the sound at Fenway surpassed my pessimistic expectations. And there are 10 members of the E Street Band!
Plus, bathroom access was easy -- way easier than The Spectrum, which, out of respect, I would never call a dump -- and with Yawkey Way open, there is a lot of open space to chill out between acts.
Don't know if Pearl Jam will play there but it's an honor that on July 5th it's Nova Scotia Day @ Fenway Park! I don't follow baseball & really don't have a favorite team. Year's back I used to like the Seattle Mariners cause of Ken Griffey Jr. But also liked Roger Clemens.
Was 100% convinced this was just a rumor two weeks ago.
Now I'm only 99% convinced.
I do find it interesting that this comes on the heels of PJ20 being announced for Venice. Did TIFF fall though? Was there suddenly an open gap on the band's schedule?
Still won't believe it till it happens but it is fun to speculate.
I suppose it's entirely possible. I would hate on it like a bastard if it did, though. Dave's played there twice in the past, what? 5 or 6 years? I'm a DMB fan, but enough is enough with those guys at Fenway.

No confirmation as to who it is (not official confirmation anyway, but I'm a believer)
