    i have to admit--when PJ played the fixer the other night here in Toronto, I totally thought of you. And as much as you hate that song, it will always make me think of you :lol: . Canada has been great--just one more show and I'll be headed home, but its been an amazing September. The boys are on a roll--by the time they get to Vancouver, you are going to be knocked on your ass (hopefully softly ;) )

    the doc told me I look "great." well, duh ;)

    he removed half of the 15 stitches in my butt. the rest will wait until after vancouver. he says it looks great back there...I'll take his word for it :lol: . I'm still on no driving, no lifting restriction. he said a heavy lift could literally cause my colon to exit thru my ass :shock: . he also said I am now at a 20% increased chance of colon cancer, down the road. next year's colonoscopy will be telling. I won't worry about that, right now. I think my oct-dec chemo could be shitty (literally). I will also not worry about that until it happens.

    ONE oxycodone doesn't seem like much to me....especially if I remember college! ;)

    Sounds like a pretty good Dr visit.

    Hope the dinner menu starts getting better and better each passing day! We will have to make plans to go out in the next month or so.

    I know what you mean- and the choice is difficult, basically pain vs getting hooked... which is why I can't (and won't) ever take benzodiazapines again without being immediately re-addicted. Maybe better to follow his advice in case you ever need the meds again (hopefully not!) It really does sound like you have a good doc- even when he does seem like a bully! ;)

    Sounds like a fabulous Dr visit. It sounds like you have a pretty great one. :mrgreen:

    Take it easy on the foods getting re-introduced. Something you would think would be easy for you....are actually the toughest ones. :?

    Here's a thought for the oxy's....cut that 5mg in half one day and see how taking half a dose may help. After my brain surgery last year that is what I had to do. Slowly cut them out and go from there. You'd be surprised what a mind over matter effect it can be. I believe the dr has your best interest at hand here. As sucky as it may sound.

    You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you buddy. :D

    I substituted 5 Guiness for 5mg of oxycodone. Happy? :lol:

    Hey Rob! Sitting at the Toronto airport with Kelly after getting a ride from Dave from the hotel to the airport. Meet Shimmymommy and a bunch of other peeps and had a great time! Nice to read you're doing well and that you're able to bust into the cashews and Guiness. Happy indeed! :D

    Just to let you know, we rocked our asses off at the shows. You do the same in Vancouver, oh yea, you don't have an ass to rock off! :shock: Careful, if you rock your dick off you'll be adrogynus :o The boys are bringing it and seem to be in a real rare form. You can tell they're having a ton of fun on stage.

    When do you leave for Vancouver and where are you staying? It's a week from Sunday! 8-)8-)8-)

    A few of us have put together a little surprise for you in honor of your attending the Vancouver show but it is definitely Pearl Jam in Vancouver related. We had hoped to get it to you prior to your going to Vancouver but it looks like we'll be cutting it close (When do you leave for Vancouver?). Would you mind PMing me the name and address of the hotel you're staying in just in case I need to send it there? Seriously, it would be very helpful.

    Don't worry, the package won't be wrapped like the last one I sent you nor will it explode as the Unibomber I am not! You'll just have to trust us on this but I guarantee you'll love it!

    Give it time, give it time. Frustrating for sure but try to remain focused on what you have accomplished thus far in dealing and coping. Easier said than done I know but man, Rob, give yourself some credit. You're kicking ass and will continue to kick ass. Right on through Vancouver and beyond. You'll still have your moments but don't we all anyway?

    Enjoy the football with your friend, have a few beers and don't worry about the sleep. Its overrated and it'll come to you. Just not during Pearl Jam in Vancouver! :o

    just read this in my quest for coping:

    This surgery has given millions another shot at a better life than what was felt and experienced during their illness. It has given us the opportunity to return to society and become productive, loving and active members. Ostomy surgery has answered the prayers of so many. Again, where is there any stigma, shame, disgrace, negativity or embarrassment in that? And just why should anyone whose life has been rescued or “saved” by ostomy surgery feel anything but euphoria and offer thanks and relief and appreciation to the medical profession for their skills in resurrecting our existence so that we might freely continue on, unhampered by the dreadful, outrageous illness that took so much away from us, but that ostomy surgery has thankfully given us back!
